Thanks for the video, but this is incredibly confusing. You seem to be going back and forth between variants, and I'm not sure what you mean by da40NG "trainer." Also, you kept showing footage of different models than the one's you were talking about. The NG does not have a prop lever. Your cost figures are definitely off. At my club I pay $190-210/hour for 2000-2007 da40s. Our NG is running in the $325/hr ballpark.

The DA-20 is a 2 seat trainer that is VFR only, so for IFR training the DA40 is used. His calling it a trainer, indicating a different model, is wrong but these are good for student pilots. In USA there is no DA40D, there was the TDI and the NG. The Lycoming engined DA40 may have a variable "constant speed" prop which has a lever.

The Cirrus requires a parachute repack every ten years costing at least $25,000 US. Whether the parachute was used on not. More cost on the SR-22 and G1 planes need the airframes cut and patched and repainted in the chute area. Cirrus is now Chinese owned, and their customer service means you should order your repack kit a year in advance. Not repacking the chute can mean grounding the plane.
Why did Cirrus even do the chute? Spin recovery problems, only way to get it certified. Go Diamond.

This or the sling TSI….in 2030, when prices of todays used models begin to come down to a reasonable price

Your information seems inaccurate, cost is double what you claim

Seems like ALL channels are manipulating consumers to buy the diesel NG. My top priority is safety and reliability. NOTHING beats the Lycoming 360.

Absolutely. The old da40 is fantastic, plus -- in my opinion -- the fadec is stupid and boring.

We shall see. I dislike air cooled engines, they require more slop built in to work from desert to arctic climates. I would strongly recommend an oversized oil cooler as the oil does double duty with both lubrication and doing the cooling that the air surfaces cannot handle. The old 360 has been around for 50+ years, let's see what another ten years of water cooled turbo normalized jet-A burning diesel development will do to help General Aviation.
