Roald Dahl - Fighter Pilot to Spy to Author
Roald Dahl, renowned for his children's literature, had a notable aviation career. Born in 1916 in Wales, he joined the Royal Air Force (RAF) in 1939, training in Nairobi. Dahl became a fighter pilot during World War II, flying the Hawker Hurricane. He survived a crash in the Libyan Desert in 1940, suffering severe injuries. Despite these setbacks, Dahl continued to serve, engaging in combat missions in Greece and the Middle East. His experiences as a pilot greatly influenced his writing, particularly in his autobiographical work "Going Solo," where he vividly recounts his wartime adventures and challenges.

The Falcon of Malta's Incredible Story: The best Air to Air Kill of WWII
Просмотров 1,1 тыс.3 месяца назад
George Beurling, a Canadian fighter pilot, became one of World War II's top aces. Known as "Screwball" Beurling, he served primarily with the Royal Air Force in the defense of Malta. His exceptional skill and daring earned him the title "Falcon of Malta." Despite his nonconformist attitude, Beurling's precision and sharpshooting downed 31 enemy aircraft in just 14 days during 1942. His unorthod...

Nice how you're breaking it down..
700+ hours in the 1949 Bonanza A35 N8595A. I loved it. E225 upgrade and Hartzell oil constant speed. Plan ahead. I refused several vectors to final on non precision approaches to SAN back course, “Unable. I can’t get down from here”. Saddle tank. I loved this aircraft. It was honest, predictable.
Most airplanes are as safe as the pilot.
Love the da 40. Hadn't flown in 25+ years. Opted for the diamond @165/hr. Soloed after 12 hours...awesome plane, wish I could afford one.
An aircraft known as the U-2 seems to do perfectly fine on a mono wheel. And it pulls up on a single axle trailer and stores in your garage.
Stupid pilots wearing masks, really?

Great info provided in the vid, thanks a lot! You answered all the questions I had
1st time viewer. New subscriber.
Wonderful compilation of key info on the Pitts! Two side notes. My Dad and a college roommate held a ribbon cut by Betty Skelton (I have a photo somewhere of it). Also Dad stayed friends with Curtis (and Ma) over the years - until the end. Curtis was an amazing designer!
Anyone know where I might find footage of the 1972 U.S. national aerobatics championships? My Dad was in the advanced category. Looking for footage because we have only one grainy and out of focus footage of him doing stunts.
was the music really necessary!
My Air impact gun is less irritating to listen to than this guy
This plane was largely a redesigned of the zenith 601xl. They share the exact same wings and will bolt up interchangeably. The improvements that this has is better looks and a better canopy design. Otherwise it’s basically the same aircraft but for more money
There are a lot of aircraft you did not touch on. There are quite a few robocraft that fall in the category of ultra light or micro lite. As for fixed-wing there are quite a few different variations that are very cheap to obtain or build. I'm trying to find more of a breakdown on the far of those smaller craft as well as electric fuel hybrids like generator powered electric motors. There's nobody putting any information about this out on RUclips and it is almost impossible to find on Google. I have not purchased a current copy of America's Federal aviation regulations, I am American so those apply to me directly. I would like to see someone put out a more detailed video on the breakdown of the rules and laws for building and operating true ultralights. For instance, you did not touch on any of the ceiling differences between LSA and standard ultralight non-licensed pilots. I'd like to know if there's a difference between the UK and the US on ceilings. . . .
For anybody that's confused as to why the UK would make you have a license in America wouldn't just think about the size of the regions we can fly in. You're more likely to be flying over populated areas in the UK.
bro in the f18 he goes straight into the ground
oh hell no u cant even follow
I'm surprised he hasn't wanted to fly a Spitfire. Let alone own one
Just learned of a couple killed in the early 2000s next door to a place I wanted to buy in Nor Cal. Apparently he backed his plane into the hangar and got some rash. His fly by night mechanic put a new rudder vator on and I guess did it wrong. Well yeah that guy and his girl died when it ripped off. If anyone knows the accident it was in CA about 20-25 years ago. Would like to read more about it.
Tom Who?
I have over 2500 combat flying time.
A pleasure to watch his insight into flying movies. Too bad he belongs to a mind controlling cult.
I was enjoying this until Corden turned up.
Hello Mike, thanks for making the video. I'm looking to get into microlight flying, in in Cheshire, can you advise on flight training in my area. Jnc 18 off the M6 12 miles south west of Manchester Airport
Grouping US ultralights with UK flex wings is inappropriate. US ultralights are any plane that has a dry weight under 254 lbs and there are tons of options that utilize traditional stick and rudder controls. Heck, there’s even a few full metal birds that meet the weight limit like the Hummel ultra cruiser.
Mr. Cruise really knows how to properly spend his money and live life to the fullest since he performed in Top Gun at age 20 or so👍🏻
The windows aren’t a myth you lemer
Bro thought he could sneak some 707 pics 💀
Bruh 707 is not the Comet
And the concord was also very compact and not all that luxury
If the sr71 pilot cared at all about being in a small space than they would ever get hired to fly it
The windows are not a mith! The square corners of the window provide week points where they would break
90% of the pics where B707
I have seen a comet and it looks amazing. Just do your research as it's not a 707
Got to love a guy that has the money to do these things and than actually does them.
Dude fire your editor
Those “rectangular windows” shown were not the rectangular windows from the Comet. They have rounded edges and are still used on Boeing aircraft today.
That's the 707 not the comet
The 707 was the main subject yet it was completely irrelevant to the comet
Bro only showed the comet like once
But it has no practical uses.
Holy shit this video has so much wrong with it. For a channel that is supposed to be dedicated to aviation, you should do a lot more research before you put out a video like this. A, aside from the very first photo, the photos in this video are of the Boeing 707, not the comet. B, your whole explaination of the windows is blatantly wrong, the windows being their cause was not a myth, it is the exact reason. The square windows lead to cracks and fatigue around the corners of the window, which caused the mid air breakups. Seriously dude, do your research, or you'll just look stupid.
I know you're probably comment-baiting for engagement, but as multiple people pointed out you only showed the Comet in the very first photo - the rest are 707s.
That’s the wrong plane
This video is underrated so is the channel
Are you sure? Almost the entire video was incorrect
@@BNSF_6022 tf are you talking about
@@Graner-1807 did you even watch the video
@@BNSF_6022 yes ofc
@@Graner-1807 yeah a lot of the information is incorrect same with the photos used in the video
You kept showing photos of the 707 (different aircraft)
