If your having a sliding door, presumably the top rail will be fixed to the hall wall so was that the purpose of the 60mm overhang on the threshold at the bottom so you can fix a runner ?

Yes your correct the top has a metal runner, the bottom has a grove in the door that a locator pin sits in to stop the door swinging, hope that makes sense
