ABOUT THIS CHANNEL:
Welcome to My Mum Makes! I’ve started this channel as a creative outlet to share my sewing projects online. I’ve loved to sew since my Mum taught me as a little girl and I find it relaxing, productive and fun. I love the chance to make things for my kids, myself and our home and I want you to feel motivated to give sewing a try and get creative. I think creativity is good for us especially as Mums. We can get so stuck in our everyday repetition, but spending some me-time creating something is a great way to unwind, prioritise our needs and use our brains in a different way to the everyday. Don’t forget to follow me on Instagram @mymummakes.marie to see more of what I’m up to.
GET TO KNOW US:

Hello. Love your channel. I’m a grandma of four with time on my hands and desperately learning new skills. I made bibs for my Grandaughter. When she was weaning.
I wanted a waterproof layer and had some waterproof mattress protector left from a picnic blanket project. A did a three layer sandwich. Towelling back waterproof middle and flannel top. I then made a template that was a rectangle the length from neck to waist.
I got a circular item to make a cut out for neck. Using kams for fastening I. The towelling side makes a great wipe up cloth after meal time. My daughter has had six for first year of eating and they have washed well.
They sound great! Very useful for sure - you can never have too many bibs
I’m hoping you get many subscribers to your videos. You don’t spend a lot of time talking in your introduction and just get to the project, which is so nice.
Thanks I appreciate that! You should see how much editing it takes though - sometimes I definitely do talk too much and it makes it harder to edit down!
Are you like me and any unused fabric item becomes a new sewing project?!
Hahahaha yes:)
Your little Alice is so cute. What an adorable little gal with her cute Mum’s bib!
She is such a sweetie for sure 😊 thanks for commenting
God I love and loathe this channel. Now I have waaaay to much on my list to make. 😍
Hahaha yes it's a problem I have too - a growing "to make" just and not enough time. I'm glad you're liking my channel though - thanks for the sweet comment
1Alice is adorable!

Yes she's such a sweetie. She's grown quite a bit since then which is so fun to look back at these videos and see how little she was.

Nice tutorial. Beautiful baby girl … those eyes!!!!! ❤️
Thanks!! Alice has lovely blue eyes like her older two siblings. Reuben, our youngest seems to be the only one without blue eyes.

Hi Alice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I always look forward to your videos Marie!!!:):) you’re such a light:) I am going to do that with my blankets too!!!
I mean baby blankets I need mine still 🤣❤️
Good I'm glad you feel inspired to make some too. Might as well use the blankets if they're just sitting around not being used I figure!
Wow, I see what you mean by dribble problem!
Sooooo much slobber
Thanks. From sri lanka
You're welcome! Wow how exciting this is being viewed in Sri Lanka!!
Hi Marie! I just landed here and loved it already ! You seem to do everything o want to do for my kids ❤️ but I’m only a beginner. What part of the world are you?
Lovely to meet you! I hope my videos are beginner friendly but I'm always happy to answer questions if you ever need.
I live in Adelaide, South Australia. How about you? How old are your kiddos?
So helpful! Thank you!!! I love that your pattern for the bib has multiple sizes!!!! I’m making things for a baby shower and if you don’t mind giving me your opinion. Should I just make the 0-6 month size or also make one size up? I don’t have kids so I don’t know what to do! 😂 love your videos! Your channel is the best that I’ve come across for baby projects!
Wow what a lovely comment to get!! Thank you so much. I'd probably just stick to the smaller size for a baby shower personally but it could work to make multiples.
@@MyMumMakes ❤️ thank you so very much!!! I’ll stick to the smaller size for now! Is there somewhere I can share the gifts I create from your tutorials?
@@jeniferalvarez2914 I'd love to see them! If you share them on Instagram or Facebook you can use #showmysew if you want me to show your projects in a future video of mine. Or you can tag me @mymummakes.marie on Instagram
I'm in Brisbane, and I can't imagine putting this bib with a fleece layer in the middle of hot summer day. I know it's small, but fleece is really hot (and it's synthetic). Do you have any other suggestions for the bottom layer?
Yes very true it would get hot. It being synthetic means it doesn't get as wet as natural fibers which is the point of the bib, to keep them dry. But you could use a natural fabric if you're worried about the heat (you could use flanellette unless that's too hot too) but it will just be less able to wick away the moisture.
How do I know if the pattern is printing out at the correct size?
I think this pattern didn't have a test square. I'm sorry about that - it wasn't my pattern, I was just using it. I would set your printer settings to 100% and it should be fine though
Hey, sorry i am really new at sewing. How should I print the pattern to get the right size?
1-Do I put it on a doc, then print it ?
2-Or should I right click the file, choose "print", untick "fit the image to the frame"?
It s several centimeters difference :(
Hi, I just press print from the webpage but you could put it into a document to resize it if it doesn't seem it would be a suitable size. Each printer would likely have different settings I guess. Sorry that that isn't heaps helpful though
@@MyMumMakes Thank you for the reply ! ill try both !
Hello Marie. I would love to hear how many cm your centerfold is. I'm quite sure I didn't get the format right... Thank you so much for your easy-tofollow videos! Love from Gran Susanne from Sweden
Hi! I had a look and it looks like about 17/18cm from the centrefold to the end of the strap part of the bib. Hopefully that helps!
@@MyMumMakes Hey, those 17/18cm are the distance from the center of the neck to the end of the bib?
@@sylvaine-r yep that's what I had on mind
What width seams did you use for the bib?
I use 1cm which is about 1/2 an inch but it doesn't matter too much. A smaller seam is better though because it'll be less bulky on the inside
Do you print the linked pattern to fit on an a4 page?
Yes I just printed on an A4 and cut on the fold. Hope it works out for you
@@MyMumMakes thank you 😊 I don’t have a baby to test sizing on and it looks a bit big to me so I was worried I hadn’t printed it properly. (Even though I know it will be smaller with Seam allowance and turning inside out etc)
Yes fair enough. It worked well for us so hopefully it will turn out to be a suitable size for you too
I like the vide but the music was too loud.
Thanks for the feedback Debra! Watching this back, I would agree with you for sure. This is an older video for me and my background music is quieter on my more recent videos.
Where’s the pattern for the dribble bib?
4:12
There is a pattern linked in the description box of this video or you can trace a bib of any size that you like.
I like your videos but can you please turn down the back ground music. It is distracting at that volume and hard to follow you, Thank you
Hi, thanks for the feedback. This was one of my earlier videos and I agree the background music was too loud. My apologies for that. Hopefully you'll find my recent videos have the volume at a better level.
