my guess is that while in lab testing like using root access to set clockspeeds manually to test the chip itself, SD8 Elite might have a slight edge over D9400 on paper, but on in actual day to day use, it's still down to the phone maker's tuning. like after having used multiple devices from various brand over the years, i notice that OPPO and Xiaomi devices generally tend to be a bit more conservative on the whole when it comes to performance, and take more care about keeping the phone lower temp, while OnePlus devices tends to allow the phone to run a bit warmer in order to get better gaming performance. this sort of tracks with their "target audience" as well. while oppo and oneplus are under the same company and runs similar software, they do have different "tuning profile" in my experience (for the lack of a better term). so even with the same exact chip, they won't perform exactly the same. i remember noticing this on the Reno8 Pro vs the OnePlus Ace (both with D8100) in performance comparisons on bilibili, and in my own experience when comparing the global Reno8 Pro vs the OnePlus 12R which also had massive difference in terms of how they tune the chip for gaming performance. i also have the Poco X4 GT with D8100 as well and again that performs quite different compared to the other 2 when i play Genshin. I think it will be interesting to do this comparison again with D9400 and SD8 Elite phones that are geared more towards gaming performance in the future, like perhaps the upcoming iQOO Neo 10 Pro vs the iQOO 13 (or Redmi K80 Pro) to see if there are any differences there. A man from Ukraine ( or Russia maybe) had both Iqoo Neo 9 pro and Iqoo 12 and he said that Neo 9 pro performed better every time when he compared both the devices together. Although at first I thought he's lying but apparently he had given his antutu scores for both the devices.
@@sagnikchatterjee2946 hmm. that's interesting. i used the iQOO 12 for a while before changing the Neo9S Pro so got to experience SD8Gen3 and D9300+ side by side, and not sure about benchmarks since i didn't test that, but when playing the games that i usually do, Genshin, HSR, and ZZZ, i didn't notice any massive difference in smoothness. though Neo9S Pro did feel like it got warmer a bit easier, but it does have a plastic frame which isn't as good at dissipating heat as metal. so no idea if it's down to that, or perhaps it could be difference in firmware too since my iQOO 12 was global unit with Funtouch and Neo9S Pro was OriginOS. but still, difference isn't massive to me. but well, luckily i can somewhat understand chinese and there are some reviewers on bilibili that will test and compare a bunch of difference phones. just that it would be nice to have someone on youtube do that too in english. 😂

Mediatek has certainly done a great job with the 9400,as it offers great performance when it comes to GPU alongside a competent CPU all while running a little cooler, and since it will be notably cheaper to procure than 8 Elite, hopefully it will find a home in many of the "affordable flagships" coming in next year. All in all,its a very balanced SoC considering performance, features and price. As for Qualcomm's SD 8 Elite, its thermal issues were almost waiting to happen due to the sheer beefiness of all the cores and the fact that mainstream phones like OP 13 and Samsung upcoming S25 series will have relatively less beefy cooling solutions to keep the lid on temps.Having said that, the CPU performance headroom offered by this chip is huge,so more specialized devices like gaming phones with beefier cooling and larger form factor devices like tablets can offer the 8 Elite the opportunity to really stretch it's legs. Finally, while this is all good news for the Android world,I am really worried about Samsung's Exynos & Google's Tensor chips as they still seem content to stick with older approach when it comes to their chip designs.
Great test! I was especially interested in the battery test, and it looks like the Oppo Find X8 is more efficient, even with a slightly lower battery capacity.

Nicely explained man.
Great video!
Hi ash..hope all good..keep rockin 🔥
the performance is impressive, its literally 2x my oneplus 12 19 fps average vs 40 fps on op 13 on wildlife extreme.
It's in 22 degree ac. Lets see how well it performance outside
