I barely finished the A Court of Thorns and Roses book series and this reminds me so much of it. How Rhysand (Damon) was willing to give up his love for Feyre (Elena) to give her hope between her and Tamlin (Stephen). I know that they aren’t the same but this just gave me the same vibes.

They're happily married now....They've overcome this obstacle and in the end Elena did get her memories back.

I’m still coming back here 5 years later. I swear this scene broke me like no other scene in the show. It’s everything, the music, Nina’s acting, I haven’t been able to see this scene again because I can’t go 2 seconds without crying. I remember when I first watched this scene, I had just finished season 5 so I was pretty broken, but then I got to this part, and I lost it. I remember going to sleep balling my eyes out, I literally cried for hours. For me, it is the saddest scene in tvd.
the story was always about Damon and Elena from the jump. Even though the necklace was from Stefen this scene represented Damon and Elena’s relationship.
this episode was like letting go of the things /moments you love because without the presence of those moments you feel incomplete. i cant. the way damon also looked for necklace in the prison world, made my heart shatter for him. delena always and forever i am not getting over them. every time i see tvd/delena it hits home.
Damon was always the better brother. Stephen was cool but Damon was always willing to do the things that needed to be done to save everyone even if it made him look bad. Stephen was complex but Damon was selfless in alot of the things he did. And he always doubled down. Damon will always have respect from me.

You know what srsl bothers me? How Stefan was drowning over and over again all summer but never switched off his humanity and when Elena started to miss Damon she simply erases every good memory of them. Go on people tell me how she isn't a crybaby like at all.

Damon may have forgiven Elena for this moment, but I NEVER did. I basically hated Elena after this! All she had to do is deal with her shit. Sadness, grief, love, feel it all you have to that's what makes us human and also I don't understand how she could erase Damon, I'll never understand it. In season 4 Rebekah gave Stefan the option of erasing Elena and she looked so hurt like how could he ever just erase her and now here she is erasing the love of her life and I hated her for it.

CharlieFen If you watched season 7 and 8 Damon was miserable without Elena but he didn't go on killing sprees....He was trying to be a better man for her he had grown past the point of acting out when things didn't go the way he wanted them too.....Sybil screwed him up thus forcing him to turn off his humanity and kill people....He was fine before that and tried to take himself out of the equation yet to be pulled back in due to people he cared about needing his help even though they've spent two seasons yelling at him and telling him how much of a screw up he was simply because he wanted to dessicate alongside Elena.
Hazel Amarie she hadn’t died though and went into destructive mode when he thought she had, fighting, trying to kill himself etc. We didn’t see too much because it was only an episode or so he thought he had killed her. But this was after she had forgotten him and they had all grown by them, I bet had it been him instead of her it would have been far worse.
Hazel Amarie and he only wanted to desiccate beside her because he realised he wasn’t a good guy without her (his exact words) and did terrible things, I wasn’t even talking about the Sybil thing. I’m still 100% sure he would have turned him emotions off had he been the one left behind in season 6 instead of Elena and then gone on killing sprees. He did it after Rose died after all.
CharlieFen Damon has shown a ton of character growth as seen in seasons 6 and 7 so I don't need you to tell me what you thought he would have done....He was a totally different character in those seasons compared to his impulse in earlier seasons. And OF COURSE he would be destructive if he thought he killed the woman he loved with his entire being....The Phoneix sword screwed with his head before that he was doing just fine.....He decided to dessicate to take himself out of the equation for everyone....He was miserable without Elena but he didn't go on some big destructive cyle due to that....He was trying to be a better man for her as he said himself.....And it was working until Stefan got involved with Rayna/The Heretics etc....Damon was dragged into that mess.
By the end of S3, imho, Elena was in love with Damon. The sire bond only drew her towards him physically. And it also made Elena fight for how she felt inside. The sire bond didn't affect feelings, only actions. Vampirism is what heightened her feelings for Damon. The sire bond is what made Elena fight to prove to Damon that how she felt was real. How it always was real. If it was never real and yet she still ended up sired, then once she was no longer sired, she could've went back to Stefan and/or taken the cure. But she didn't. She chose to end things better with him, and she chose to give up that chance of being human again because she was finally ready to accept being immortal. As well as wanting to be with Damon. (Not to mention, the hunters were after the cure, and Elena didn't want it if it put her loved ones in danger.) The scene with the necklace was the moment where she loved him, but it was more like (imo) ..the beginning of when her feelings for him became more romantic. She wasn't instantly in love with him in that scene. I'm a huge delena shipper and even I think it took all that time spent with Damon for her to actually fall for him. However, I'm one who also thinks that it wasn't until Elena became a vampire that she started to truly admit to herself how she really felt about Damon. I personally think as a human she felt guilty for loving him, knowing the kind of person he was and what everyone thought of her being attracted to him. But as a vampire, she didn't hide the guilt or care about it anymore. Anyways, this moment was bittersweet for me. I didn't like seeing Elena grieve the way she did over losing Damon, but I also didn't like the ripple effect it was causing: (her on drugs, her feeding on innocents). So if this was the only way to take away the pain of losing him, then it's hard to be completely upset with the character in this scene. But that's what made their relationship true love. Compelled memories couldn't even keep them apart forever. Damon and Elena were ripped from each other many times (even if it was they themselves doing the ripping), and yet, they always found their way back to each other. That is why they're endgame for me. Realistically speaking, there were definitely some things about their relationship that would never slide or work in the real world, but as a fictional couple, they will always be meant to be. ❤

CHANNYTUBE It took me a minute to get used to delena too! =) But I do like them together! And I love Damon! But I think I am a bit more of a fan of Stefan! But I love the both for different reasons! I love Damon's badassary and I love how Elena brought out the good caring side in him. But Stefan is that person who is there when you need someone and will be there unconditionally and won't let you down! I love them both for those reasons!

So what this scene is telling me is that the main reason she fell in love with him was because of the significance of the act of him bringing back the necklace. What that means is that she would have fallen for him sooner if he didn’t compel her to forget the first time he brought it back for her which was the scene where he first told her he loved her. So long story short, Damon did this to himself 😭
Out of respect for Stefan, that’s why he compelled to forget. He also didn’t believe he was worthy of Elena’s love until S3. That’s why S3 is the best season of TVD

I've seen this scene tons of times because I rewatched this show so many times and I've always hated that Elena wanted to erased all her memories of Damon, as Damon said he rather be in pain for the rest of his life knowing the love of his life is dead but at least with that pain prevails the love he felt.. But now, I think I would've done the same, the pain of losing someone could be unbearable sometimes, everybody's grief is different, we cannot blame her, she had lost so many people, she couldn't stand it anymore and some people forget that Damon was her one true love and she wanted and eternity with him.

Different people deal with grief differently. Elena's choice here was to stop living in denial and grief, to stop becoming a monster. We also need to understand that she hasnt lived as a vampire for as long as damon. She's lived most of her life being human. Living with her memories and her grief, when she's lost all her loved ones time and time again and at such a young age wasnt something she was able to bear at that point in time.
All i can say "we dont care about them who really care about us " ,"Even we choose the person who is opposite of our ".... Stefan's love is pure no doubt he respect her choices as well ... stefans "heart is pure that was his curse " - Emily ... this is enough to say how much love he has for elena...
And still elena fell in love with Damon AGAIN. Proves how much Damon cared about Elena and loved Elena even after he knew that elena hates him. delena maybe toxic sometimes. But they had to overcome lot of difficulties. And still at the end they got the endgame. DELENA IS PURE NO MATTER WHAT

I’m still coming back here 5 years later. I swear this scene broke me like no other scene in the show. It’s everything, the music, Nina’s acting, I haven’t been able to see this scene again because I can’t go 2 seconds without crying. I remember when I first watched this scene, I had just finished season 5 so I was pretty broken, but then I got to this part, and I lost it. I remember going to sleep balling my eyes out, I literally cried for hours. For me, it is the saddest scene in tvd.
This moment is so beautiful and sad at the same time. I love when she realizes Katherine was right and she could and did love them both.
The key wasn't when she first realized that she loved him. The key was Jeremy. That moment that she hated him so much. Broke my heart.

the way damon also looked for necklace in the prison world, made my heart shatter for him. delena always and forever i am not getting over them. every time i see tvd/delena it hits home.
Damon was always the better brother. Stephen was cool but Damon was always willing to do the things that needed to be done to save everyone even if it made him look bad. Stephen was complex but Damon was selfless in alot of the things he did. And he always doubled down. Damon will always have respect from me.

You know what srsl bothers me? How Stefan was drowning over and over again all summer but never switched off his humanity and when Elena started to miss Damon she simply erases every good memory of them. Go on people tell me how she isn't a crybaby like at all.

Stefan is 170 years old, and all the time he knew everyone is safe and there was no point in switching off humanity . I don't think switching off humanity erases your pain ,
Damon may have forgiven Elena for this moment, but I NEVER did. I basically hated Elena after this! All she had to do is deal with her shit. Sadness, grief, love, feel it all you have to that's what makes us human and also I don't understand how she could erase Damon, I'll never understand it. In season 4 Rebekah gave Stefan the option of erasing Elena and she looked so hurt like how could he ever just erase her and now here she is erasing the love of her life and I hated her for it.
Really? I bet Damon would have turned his emotions off though if Elena had died and was struggling for months like Elena was here. That just results in hurting and killing people, so this is a very Elena thing to do and makes more sense for her. If anything this is the better choice than the one he would have made.
CharlieFen If you watched season 7 and 8 Damon was miserable without Elena but he didn't go on killing sprees....He was trying to be a better man for her he had grown past the point of acting out when things didn't go the way he wanted them too.....Sybil screwed him up thus forcing him to turn off his humanity and kill people....He was fine before that and tried to take himself out of the equation yet to be pulled back in due to people he cared about needing his help even though they've spent two seasons yelling at him and telling him how much of a screw up he was simply because he wanted to dessicate alongside Elena.
Hazel Amarie she hadn’t died though and went into destructive mode when he thought she had, fighting, trying to kill himself etc. We didn’t see too much because it was only an episode or so he thought he had killed her. But this was after she had forgotten him and they had all grown by them, I bet had it been him instead of her it would have been far worse.
Hazel Amarie and he only wanted to desiccate beside her because he realised he wasn’t a good guy without her (his exact words) and did terrible things, I wasn’t even talking about the Sybil thing. I’m still 100% sure he would have turned him emotions off had he been the one left behind in season 6 instead of Elena and then gone on killing sprees. He did it after Rose died after all.
CharlieFen Damon has shown a ton of character growth as seen in seasons 6 and 7 so I don't need you to tell me what you thought he would have done....He was a totally different character in those seasons compared to his impulse in earlier seasons.
And OF COURSE he would be destructive if he thought he killed the woman he loved with his entire being....The Phoneix sword screwed with his head before that he was doing just fine.....He decided to dessicate to take himself out of the equation for everyone....He was miserable without Elena but he didn't go on some big destructive cyle due to that....He was trying to be a better man for her as he said himself.....And it was working until Stefan got involved with Rayna/The Heretics etc....Damon was dragged into that mess.
She is such a good actress i feel her pain too and i think that is what makes a good actor

I watched this series 30 times 😩 and this still my favorite scene from season 6
a show has never made me cry so much, this scene broke my heart.
By the end of S3, imho, Elena was in love with Damon. The sire bond only drew her towards him physically. And it also made Elena fight for how she felt inside. The sire bond didn't affect feelings, only actions. Vampirism is what heightened her feelings for Damon. The sire bond is what made Elena fight to prove to Damon that how she felt was real. How it always was real.
If it was never real and yet she still ended up sired, then once she was no longer sired, she could've went back to Stefan and/or taken the cure. But she didn't. She chose to end things better with him, and she chose to give up that chance of being human again because she was finally ready to accept being immortal. As well as wanting to be with Damon. (Not to mention, the hunters were after the cure, and Elena didn't want it if it put her loved ones in danger.)
The scene with the necklace was the moment where she loved him, but it was more like (imo) ..the beginning of when her feelings for him became more romantic. She wasn't instantly in love with him in that scene. I'm a huge delena shipper and even I think it took all that time spent with Damon for her to actually fall for him. However, I'm one who also thinks that it wasn't until Elena became a vampire that she started to truly admit to herself how she really felt about Damon. I personally think as a human she felt guilty for loving him, knowing the kind of person he was and what everyone thought of her being attracted to him. But as a vampire, she didn't hide the guilt or care about it anymore.
Anyways, this moment was bittersweet for me. I didn't like seeing Elena grieve the way she did over losing Damon, but I also didn't like the ripple effect it was causing: (her on drugs, her feeding on innocents). So if this was the only way to take away the pain of losing him, then it's hard to be completely upset with the character in this scene.
But that's what made their relationship true love. Compelled memories couldn't even keep them apart forever.
Damon and Elena were ripped from each other many times (even if it was they themselves doing the ripping), and yet, they always found their way back to each other.
That is why they're endgame for me. Realistically speaking, there were definitely some things about their relationship that would never slide or work in the real world, but as a fictional couple, they will always be meant to be. ❤

CHANNYTUBE It took me a minute to get used to delena too! =) But I do like them together! And I love Damon! But I think I am a bit more of a fan of Stefan! But I love the both for different reasons! I love Damon's badassary and I love how Elena brought out the good caring side in him. But Stefan is that person who is there when you need someone and will be there unconditionally and won't let you down! I love them both for those reasons!

So what this scene is telling me is that the main reason she fell in love with him was because of the significance of the act of him bringing back the necklace. What that means is that she would have fallen for him sooner if he didn’t compel her to forget the first time he brought it back for her which was the scene where he first told her he loved her. So long story short, Damon did this to himself 😭
Out of respect for Stefan, that’s why he compelled to forget. He also didn’t believe he was worthy of Elena’s love until S3. That’s why S3 is the best season of TVD

I've seen this scene tons of times because I rewatched this show so many times and I've always hated that Elena wanted to erased all her memories of Damon, as Damon said he rather be in pain for the rest of his life knowing the love of his life is dead but at least with that pain prevails the love he felt.. But now, I think I would've done the same, the pain of losing someone could be unbearable sometimes, everybody's grief is different, we cannot blame her, she had lost so many people, she couldn't stand it anymore and some people forget that Damon was her one true love and she wanted and eternity with him.

This is something so sad it makes me cry and nostalgic for something that's happened so long time ago and it's irrelevant rn 😔
What makes me cry is even though Damon did all of these bad things she still was in love with him she didn't care about any of the bad things he did because she was in love with him and no matter what she always saw the good in him and if you love a person that much that every time you looked at a picture of them you broke in pieces that's how you know what they felt for each other was real.
Different people deal with grief differently. Elena's choice here was to stop living in denial and grief, to stop becoming a monster. We also need to understand that she hasnt lived as a vampire for as long as damon. She's lived most of her life being human. Living with her memories and her grief, when she's lost all her loved ones time and time again and at such a young age wasnt something she was able to bear at that point in time.
