I’ve used this saw for two days, I’ve been fitting a flat roof, cutting 47x170 timbres all day. No battery change. The best part is how buttery smooth the cuts are. Almost feels weird how smooth it is. I actually want to marry it.

That was pretty damn impressive for a first cut out of the box. I’m just getting into the XGT line slowly 😂. I’ve had the 7 1/4 rear handle forever and just recently got another 10 1/4 rear handle. I had one before but my generosity made me part with it and had to get another. Picked up the XGT impact driver and hammer drill kit a couple weeks ago so it’s a start. Definitely was looking into this chopsaw for the jobsite. My dad scares the hell out of me with a circular saw. Almost cut his fingers off twice so I’m wanting to get him a miter where he can just lay the lumber and drop the saw in the cut. He’s getting older and careless about safety😂. Been a huge fan of the channel for quite a while brother. Thank you for buying all these tools at your own expense to make these videos for us to enjoy and learn from. Makita is a solid brand and the XGT line is amazing. Take care my friend

Looking forward to additional feedback on accuracy for trim work. These small saws should (in theory) be great for the occasional trim repair, but for larger trim they rely on both the bevel and slide functions. Both if those (bevel and slide can introduce additional accuracy challenges (i.e. non-parallel blades affect the slide and bevel cuts are more susceptible to blade deflection, etc.). In short, a much cheaper saw can cut 2X material "good enough" so, for me, the real question is "can it handle big trim beveled on the flat and produce tight joints ?"

It will be interesting to see if folks are willing to jump to the Makita 40V instead of the "one battery" that works on everything with Milwaukee (high amp batts) and Dewalt (Flexvolts fir on regular 20v max tools). Makita seems to try to compete on the features and quality of their tools (like this one)...not sure it will be enough.

I purchased makitas first battery miter saw years ago it had a 7 inch blade. Great little saw for shoe molding etc. But did not have enough power and RPMS. Looking to get this one, wanted the Milwaukee miter saw but to many complaints.

The only thing that's bugging me and keeping me from getting it is I'm 99.9% already on flexvolt and 20v max dewalt line. So unless there's some sort of a gizmo adapter that I can
    1. Plug it into a socket like the flexvolt miter saw
    2. Adapter from makita to dewalt battery... Kinda like I have the Milwaukee nail guns with dewalt batteries.
Unfortunately I can't get with having multiple chargers and multiple battery platforms. There's just no sense in it.
Also in my opinion. Makita 40v battery line is too large for any of the other tools. It's just too bulky. Kinda like runing flexvolt battery on impact... It's just 2 big.
Best solution is to have some adapter that makes it a corded or cordless unit

Trying to order one here in the US. Sadly it’s not available. I have the Makita 10” saw but after back fusion and two knee surgeries… I’ve got to cut weight of of my tools. I wish Mikita would make this same saw with a 10” blade, keep the same size frame, rails etc. Just go to the larger blade and adjust the head to accommodate.
I’m a big fan of the shadow light. I have it on a couple of other saws we have, a Dewalt and Milwaukee. The Milwaukee will work in all but direct sunlight. I’ve found all I have to do is put the saw in the shade.
    Thanks for the great review.

I was looking on the Mikita web site. It says 48.52 shipping lbs. my 10” Makita is 57.9 lbs.
I’m going to guess. If the 48.52 shipping lbs is correct then the box, packaging add up to about 5 lbs. So the unit with batteries is probably 45 lbs. but all this is a guess.
If your correct on weight. Then it’s heavier than the larger 10”.

At first sight, I said WOW. Under your lighting, it looked like gunmetal, not the normal raw metal look. Great review. The bevel cuts on 12x2 timber was a taxing on the 2.5Ah, I didn't hear you say that with the 4Ah. Also, it seemed you were comparing the size of a 12 inch miter, with an 8.5 inch. Of course the 8.5 is going to be smaller. Great video, and I am in the market for a Makita miter saw, but I was leaning towards the plug in type.... Not sure if I'll be moving it much.

I just got mine, and ... The Right Bevil unlock sticks. You pull it out, and you bevil... then try to get it back to zero and you have to get a hammer and a pin to tap it back home so the saw can lock back to zero. I also had to spray penetrating oil on it. I now have it sitting at an angle with 3-in-1 oil hopefully seeping down inside the miter joint to grease whatever it is that was painted after the fit. I think we can now say why it is Makita doesn't make the 1 handed all in 1 adjustment mechanism for the newer 40v cordless Miter saws they have released in America. This setup seems to be the weakpoint and the strongpoint of the saw at the same time. Am I the only one that is having this problem?

    • @Myyra-games
      @Myyra-games 3 года назад +4

If i understood correctly, your issue is that the wood you are trying to cut has slight bend in it.
When you are cutting, you are creating relief cut.
Since you push the blade, the wood wants to "fold" towards the blade gripping it to a halt.
The wider the material is, the bigger issues you have.
