      At a guess I'd say you have the audio you don't want separated out to a different track in the output file and RUclips is mashing them together. If you play the file locally does it have multiple audio track options with the audio that overlaps here? Like I said, just a guess but I'd be happy if I can help you avoid it in future!

    Nice! I would say it's not tabless because Makita would be advertising that everywhere. But It's Makita, they could have an existing model with nuclear launch capabilities and they would simply release it with an N on the end of it, charge $10 more and no one would know why.

    • @riba2233
      @riba2233 10 месяцев назад +5

      They are most likely tabless, there is no alternative for this kind of power increase, and we saw what tabless cells look like on new Milwaukee mx fuel packs. Same 4ah dark green cells with high power, this must be it :) they have basically double the continuous power, in the same volume and capacity, that kind of jump would be impossible with the old tech.
      And makita rarely brags about the details of the new tech, they just advertise increased power that that's it :)

    I really like that Makita is sticking to a professional nomenclature. That thing is called whatever it is called, we know what it does, that's why we buy it. We don't need a silly name for everything. Also, I suspect that they will simply renew the entire lineup over time, just as we got the B-Series with LXT. Makita never made a big fuzz about that either. They were just better with that gauge on them and hence they slowly introduced them and phased out the old ones over time.

    • @richiejames928

    If it is tablets fairplay to Makita for keeping up to the latest technology. I really hope that they release a pouch cell battery that is flatter than the 2.5 to go with a new impact driver like the 18 volt one with the fancy lights🙏. I heard that once tablets batteries get into mass production they will be cheaper as they are more simple to produce and like you said in your demonstration welding on a tab is a weak point in battery construction and in some cases can lead to failure. So we could be getting cheaper more robust batteries.

    nice to see this. and for the explanation about these 'tabless' cells. Much appreciated.
    But even other than such tabless... Elsewhere Honor have recently released a new foldable smartphone in China. And it's supposed to have new Silicon-Carbon anodes. But what is actually surprising is the fact that it's supposed to be some mass produced consumer product. And so getting something to market in itself is a good indicator that such things are moving forwards. And to actually prove in the market - that you can buy it, and use it.
    However I'm not saying those other technology are necessarily suitable for power tools. It's just seems to be some general uptick now. To wider market.

    I'm sad, my original XLT battery just stopped charging. 2005. Makita does add things to the battery and name them. I still run lots of 3ah none star 18 volt. When they switched I looked and had a hard time finding a battery that was not a star. If it has a star then the tool and battery talk. When they first change the battery looked very similar to the current 40 v batteries. When the new battery is all that is available they will say something about it quietly.
    When Makita changes something like the logo then they changed something it the tool. I think that I have 3 different 18 v 3ah batteries that are all the same model number. None star, star, and fuel gauge. They all have different logos on them. And have different run times when new.
    Personally I like that Makita doesn't put things like star on the side of my battery. Or high out put. It makes no sense to. The older battery is on longer sold and only the new one is. So in a year when d&m don't make the old battery. What will make the battery that I buy high output? It's all they sail and now make. Personally I will stay with Makita tools.

    29:28 are you sure they're copper plated? Copper corrodes fairly easily. These pins are usually nickel plated copper. The central pins are for comms and very low current. Could be gold plated to help get a good connection, but I don't know how well that would hold up on a tool battery.

    • @riba2233
      @riba2233 10 месяцев назад +3

      doesn't look like gold. There are some copper alloys that are more resistant to corrosion, I found them on nissan leaf battery buss bars and in general on some high power connectors. But yeah, these are low power. So, what do you say about the new 21700's by murata? pretty crazy stuff! Makes ouch cells obsolete for most cases :)

    I have to say, as a big Makita fan, I have been, and still am, perplexed at Makita’s approach to their battery lineup. This video further enhances that feeling. Their ‘arrogant’ approach to the limiting of the LXT lineup, is still a sore point with me. Great tools that could benefit from better batteries. I am not implying the current LXT batteries are bad, but I have to wonder how much better a planer, or saw, or an angle grinder would run, using 21700 based batteries? Not to mention at higher capacities than 6.0 Ah!
    I know there would be fitment issues on some tools, but that has not stopped Milwaukee, DeWalt, etc.?

      Tabless cells will probably become standard my guess is makita will just end up using tabless cells in all batteries within a year or 2. I don't know why they would continue to use old technology when manufacturing the old stuff is just takeing up space in the factory every battery manufacturing company will adopt this over time and tabed cells will be a thing of the past. Makitas plan will be to sell off all the old stuff and slowly replace it with better so will every other tool manufacturer

    Not sure if youll see this Tools, but you got me onto the 40v platform a couple years back when they came to the UK.
    I've ran all my circ saws and mitre saw on 2.5ah, but when ripping wet studs the other day the batteries drained right down after just one or two passes.
    I was looking at getting a 5ah for extra longevity, and for the 305mm mitre saw. The 4ah high output is basically the same price, £10 less.

    I am confused why the 4Ah battery should have same energy like the 5 Ah battery. Below battery, it is written 144Wh. Same on the old 4Ah battery. And this is right, because 36V x 4 Ah = 144 Wh.
    Another interesting fact: F version has an IP 64 protection according to datasheet. Old version not. Or it is not written in datasheet.

    • @aaronoconnor606
      @aaronoconnor606 10 месяцев назад +2

      He explained why a tabless cell is around 40% more efficient they don't have spots that get to hot. And is uses the stored energy way more effectively the old tabbed cells have a bottle neck and don't use all the energy stored in the battery. That's why a 4Ah battery can make more power and last just as long because it's used 90% of the stored energy.
      the old tabbed cell would probably only use 70% with less output and worse heat management
