I'd like to say thank you to all of you that have found help with this video and also those that have clicked through the links to purchase items for this repair. It is very much appreciated by me!
Thanks for the video! I have a '05 Z71 LS. Just changed my second Water Pump & Thermostat yesterday. I was curious about the Coolant Temp Sensor as I've never changed it before. This definitely helps!
I really appreciate ur video man I was told that it would cost 650 bucks to get it replaced at a shop down the street and I can't afford that... thankyou for taking the time to help me and my family out!
I have a same or similar code issue with my 05 colorado 3.5l...says engine cold for too long. But only throws a code every few days when I erase it...I hate to replace the thermostat if I don't have to bc its not stuck or anything.
Thanks for the video, it really helps! Did you put any kind of form-a-gasket on the threads of the new sensor? I see it has an o-ring so that step might not be necessary.
@@toothmaker1216 thanks, after watching the video I went to remove the old temp sensor, unfortunately it snapped off. At that point I took it to a professional and they were able to remove the broken base. Once they put the new sensor in it still didn't clear the code, turns out it was my thermostat. On those 5 cylinder motors the thermostat housing has to be replaced too. $540 parts & labor later (not counting the temp sensor) my truck runs great and it passed the smog check.
Forget about the crow's foot and cut a channel in a 15mm deep socket and save yourself some misery! Thanks for the video I really needed the part about disconnecting the wire connector.
How did you get that sensor out I have a 2007 and I was gonna do it the other day but could not figure out for the life of me how to get my tools down in there
It was a little difficult to reach and I had to do it by feel mostly. Be sure to remove the air intake first so it’s not in the way. You will need to use an extension also.
I’m not a professional mechanic. I just work on my own vehicles. That being said, it is my assumption that the manufacturers use certain minimum quality parts to ensure the vehicles perform to a certain standard. Therefore whenever possible I try to get OEM parts as long as I can afford them!

@@DownInFlames85 glad it helps! Thanks for the comment!
Well, my new temperature sensor lasted four months and then it started doing the same thing so I guess I’ll try replacing it again

That’s great! Glad it was helpful!
If you get the po128 code. But the engine light off, could it not be the sensor ,instead it’s the thermostat?
Nice job. Doing a neighbors truck this weekend, the crowfoot tool is what I need. Thank you.
Awesome! Glad the video helped!
Thanks for helping me change my sensor. Much appreciated.
Glad to help. I appreciate the feedback!

I did not. Just the o-ring.

Was you having starting issues when engine was warmed up? I’m having issues with my 07 colorado
No, I wasn’t having a starting issue. Mine was mainly just a check engine code and a rough idle.
How important is it that these be OEM?
