Who else has experienced Delhi Belly? 🤒 How did you handle it?
Karl Rock Take care Brother 👍👍
Hi, Karl if possible do visit a good Gastroenterologist, I think it will definitely help.
I'm better now 🙏 Thank you all 🙏
All visitors from western countries should think about vaccinating for hepatitis A and also Rota viruses. These are usually spread through unhygienic foods.
And also there are other causes where you need to see good doctor or hospital.
I had Delhi Belly for a day. It went away when I took strong over the counter painkillers.
Get well soon mate. And remember a little drink of desi daru every day keeps the doctor away! Jai bhole ki!
Bankrupt you here?
Panacea - Desi Daru 💯
bald and bankrupt I just watched your video where you say Karl Rock 1,000 times. Brilliant. Absolutely Brilliant.

@Jamie Lang happened to me in mexico. turned my week vacation into 3 days.
Don’t eat street food, ever. Drink bottled water.
Street food = unhygienic, you don't know what the vendor was doing with his hands also any flies contaminating foods
I learned it the hard way last time I went to Vietnam. First thing I did was having a cold drink. Next thing I know, I was bedridden for two weeks with intense diarrhea.
I love Street Food but I would never touch it in India because the risk of getting sick from it (with myself at least) is very high. I would limit the places to eat and just pretty much eat only from the hotel (I usually stay in 4 or 5 Star Hotels there)
Its probably due to toxicity....of youtube comment section

I just commented this lol when I travel to India my husband only let's me drink water bottle and NO STREET FOOD!
Whenever I visit India, I drink water that is filtered through a Life Straw. It’s kind of inconvenient and it looks odd, but I rarely have any waterborne bacterial stomach infections.
I think Indians probably have strongest immune system in the world .
Bullshit- Many Indians carry the entamoeba histollitica in their internal systems and are relatively unhealthy.

Don't just take pain meds. Go to a doc and make sure they do a proper work up to make sure its not something serious like enterotoxigenic E.coli. And make sure you stay hydrated and replenish your electrolytes. Quite often its the dehydration and electrolyte imbalance that kills people. Take care man!.
That bacteria almost put me into the death bed 10 years ago. It required 60 dose of penicillin to cure it after 20 days in Hospital.
I came back to London from India and doctor told me I had a stomach bug/virus, I will never go back to india, not Delhi anyway
Jesus! It's enough to scare me off going!
Or just don’t go to India for any reason. Stay in first world nations.
I agree with Pfsif. Delhi belly is basically food poisoning, which is a rather charming English name for what it really is. I studied medicine in college for 8 semesters before changing careers. Delhi belly is caused by ingesting contaminated food, which can be due to two factors only; either bad hygiene from the cook (and we all know what that means) or bacteria attached to the food from dust or anything coming from the proximity to the street. This is plain fact. Only solution to this apart from NOT eating street food and only drinking bottled water, is to have a series of antibiotic injections (they must be injections, otherwise you'll just keep vomiting the pills when the reflex comes). This type of infection doesn't just go away in three days, it can be lethal if untreated if your immune system isn't used to dealing with it. You also need to keep hydrating yourself daily during the process (ideally with an oral hydrating solution) because loss of electrolytes during the following days (caused by diarrhea) is a very serious matter that most people don't really think about. Pain killers are only for the symptoms (the pain), but the fix for the root of the problem is Antibiotic, so you usually need to take them together.
Never experienced a Delhi belly Karl, but as you describe it must be painful, go to see a doctor as soon as possible. They understand English in India, even you explain it in Hindi. Take some motilium in the mean time if you can have or buy it. Anyway, take care Karl .
Thanks Marie-Elisabeth. I'm all better now 🙏
Karl Rock happy you feel better Karl, keep it that way!
Motilium is banned in USA as it interact with allergy meds and stops heart rthym.
I am from Maharashtra and I just visited Delhi in Diwali vacation...I had the same situation, sudden pain after 15-20 minutes which lasted for some time and it was horrible...I knew about this before but I didn't knew it happens to Indians too... but I got recovered in 1 day without medications
Your description of when you went to the hospital is pretty much exactly how I feel when I have endometriosis flare ups. I've called an ambulance before I got prescription pain killers. It was crazy how similar your description was.
Karl thanks for video. I with my wife visited India last autumn for two weeks and hopefully none of has had Delhi belly. I'm happy for us and I hope all you guys who got this will be fine
You are a lot tougher than I am dude. If my stomach is slightly upset I get nervous. The way you talk about Delhi belly is like I would talk about a runny nose during allergy season. Kudos to you.

From the last 4 or 3 videos i got the feelings that you well get sick i love you and hope you well return to your homeland saftey
I’ve had this 2 out of the 3 times I visited Pakistan. It’s no joke. The first time I had it for 4 days and on the fourth day I was literally passing clear water. At that point I went to the hospital and got glucose and medication. The second time I was a bit older and it went away after about 7 or 8 days. I took Imodium which didn’t really help and just drank a lot of fluids. The pain is seriously bad. It’s like having a very sharp cramp in the middle of your stomach, and a constant burning feeling generalized through your whole abdomen. The second time I was super careful for my entire trip and slipped up at the end by eating a roadside naan, so it is possible to avoid it. And like Karl said, if you go to the hospital it goes away much faster. Be very careful not to get dehydrated, I was going to the toilet literally every 5 minutes and it was nothing but water. What kept me safe for most of my trip was just eating very hot and fresh food, so all the bad stuff was killed off, and avoiding anything sketchy that might have tap water in it like roadside smoothies.
Get well soon. God bless you
Get well soon and take care
Wishing you a speedy recovery!!
hey karl, you should come over to Kerala to experience India as much . I think compared to dehi you will love Kerala .
And most of the doctors dont over prescribe
all the medicines have their own indication.
eg in times of stomach infection / food poisoning the doctors usually prescribe a capsule which contains the normal bacterial flora of our stomach which has to be taken for three times daily for a period of 3 to 4 days along with 2 course of antibiotics and if there is fever associated with it they usually prescribe a paracetamol also ORS for replenishing the electrolyte loss . These are the usual course of medicines they prescribe. If your condition is much worse or something its better u get admitted.
You are hard worker dude and sometimes shit happens
Your videos just keep getting better and better
Get Well Soon Karl ji.
I was so sick in Calcutta in 2008.......it took a month to recover. Since then I dont eat meat in Asia, it worked out well. So far so good. Never got sick that bad anymore!
Hey, hope you get better soon. Love your videos 🙏
Experiencing Delhi Belly for the first time only after two days in India. I thought because I lived in Mexico I was going to sleep it off but it ended up killing three days of my work/holiday trip. So sad I'm losing these days, but luckily I had a phone consultation with a doctor and I'm now on painkillers. This video made me feel less anxious, thank you! 🙏
You are cute lol

avoiding non-veg street food is good for novice travelers in india ;-)

@@DarkForce852 advice is not just for him
Avoid hotels with chicken or mutton especially in some shit hole place like old Delhi.
I agree. I would be wary of non-vegetarian food in India.
When I see other countries, I want to travel. But when I watch videos of all the bad sicknesses people get in these kind of countries, I am glad I am here in Canada.
It's the street food that causes it!
@@dmqn3135 But you'll find tons of people claiming they were poisoned from clean looking restaurants too. All it takes it them forgetting to wash their hands after using the bathroom then touching your food.

I experienced a stomach infection when I travelled to Mumbai from the states...I ate a street vada pao and the infection was with me for about a week and ruined my whole Mumbai trip...watched this video and learned a lot!
Get well soon, bhai.
India has been taken off my list of countries to visit
Had severe gastro enteritis issues a couple of times in Delhi and once in the Maldives while on mission. Got admitted to a nursing home in Delhi for a few days, put on a drip and generally cleared out the infection from the stomach with the help of the usual eg antibiotics, oral rehydration powder, pain killers, rest from work etc the. Maldives case was really bad and survived with Imodium which just suppresses the outpourings...my advice : be very careful what you eat and make sure you heat up the food really well, drink “real” mineral water ( although this can reduce the ability of the system to handle infected food), ideally don’t drink alcohol, as this can be spurious, even when purchased from 5 star hotel...on the whole it ain’t easy , especially if your stomach is slightly weak...get well soon Karl!
Hope you feel better soon! You never stated what the meds where that worked for you with this Delhi Belly? Might you tell us so we may be prepared just in case.
This is sooo true. Visited India for 10 days. on the 5th day i was in delhi and that was when my diarhoea of 1.5 months began. Even returning to Singapore and getting medications didint help. But india is really a country worth visiting especially manali :D!

Even we Indians have this problem in Delhi... I had this problem when I 1st visited delhi 10 years ago... After that I avoid so many things in delhi... This is the best practice 😁😁
Not every Indian lives in Delhi
Don’t understand why the Indian government doesn’t enforce food safety handling
You’re actually so cute 😂😍
Why do you live in a congested and polluted area like Delhi? If you can you can move to a nicer area like dharmashala or sikkim. I always get health problems in Delhi but not in hill stations.
Oh Sikkim is magnificent

drink a lot of water and eat simple food,
I think you should take aloe vera juice(Patanjali) with water, this is very healthy for digestion and for stomach pain and problems
love you bro😃😃
Yes had it...two different things...had to go to doctor when i got back to the usa. It would not go away as you said. Im going back to india if it happens again will get it treated there.
Damn I didn't know it was this severe. My cousin returned from abroad and got Delhi belly and I thought he was just overacting with some digestive issues/ upset stomach. I feel quite bad now.
Just keep Omeprazole and Norflox TZ. No matter what problem you have with stomach, it will cure it within an hour. You never have to contact a doctor again.
You know what? I have just about the same kind of severe pain now and then...more so about 5 years back.
It is good that you do a thorough check-up if you are staying long in India.
Now, I always make sure I eat lots of *dahi* (curd) after my meal (add sugar if it seems too bitter for you) and especially more so when I take spicy food. It does help, I tell you.
Get well soon. I have lived all my life in India and had moved to US 6 years ago. But let me tell you I still fall sick and get delly belly every time I visit India. It is not just because of contaminated food. I literally had one meal from a very luxurious restaurant in mumbai and that was enough to fall sick. Basically my gut can no longer take the spice level anymore or needs some time to adjust again. A friend of mine who ate the same food from UK had no issues. But fell sick when he had something else. It totally depends on each person’s body.
Get well soon.
In Hindi sharp pain is called "maroda " maroda inside stomach..... Just eat some hazmola tablet
Seems all that food you had in the previous video caught up with you....
Haha, na this was filmed before that video was. Bahadurgarh food was clean
Oh sad! I feel sorry for your situation! Get well soon!! You should eat yoghurt it'll benefit you.
According to Google Bizarre history of Delhi belly:
"The term first appeared in the summer of 1857,” claims RV Smith, author of several books on the city. “The Indian mutineers had taken over the capital and the British were encamped on the Ridge where many of them were incapacitated due to upset tummies. It was they who coined the term Delhi Belly.”
So when i get food poisoning in England/NZ what shall i call it Irish/Scottish/Maori Belly ? LOL
Breathing in Delhi air equivalent to smoking 44 cigarettes a day...
😱
😂😂😂😂
My husband never let's me eat street food in India lol when I travel to india our trip always get expensive due to food, because we have to get good restaurants only lol
I did get a little tummy ache though and we went straight to Apollo to get antibiotics for stomach infections just incase lol
I hope you're better!
Man just got back from Delhi, I've never been so sick!!
Are you safe if you eat curries that have been cooked at the boiling point? The heat should destroy the bacteria...but then you have the issue of dirty cutlery, plates, possibly contaminated water/ice. Are you safe at a restaurant?
Get well soon😥😥😥😥
To find a reliable doctor, if a US or UK citizen ask your embassy or consulate. They usually have people they use or recommend. Its usually Western trained MDs.

So what medication do you get prescribed and which ones do you need to reject?
When even us indians telling you not to eat just any street food, that has a lot of sense in that. If you ignore and do whatever you think is right for you, all i can say is good luck.
Due to unhygenic and pollution, bacteria develops rapidly especially in open food and July to November is the worst season just after monsoon.
Stay hydrated while drinking water just mix the electrolyte powder like ORS...To overcome fatigue.
It happens with me every time I visit Delhi!

It is a good idea to keep oregano oil or mastic gum extract or monolaurin at hand when traveling, they are all natural antibacterial supplements.
But Anyone knows the science behind the Delhi belly ? What bacteria is it? H pylori?
I usually travel with immodium. It seems that would not be enough. What would be the average cost for medical treatment of this problem....medicine and Dr/hospital visit? Thank you for sharing...I hope that you feel better soon.
Hey Jim, around $7 US to see a good doctor at a hospital and $3 for the medicine.
Feeling much better now 🙏🏻
Karl Rock thank you.
Get well soon! The majority of cases seem to be ecoli or salmonella from tap water and food. A lot of holiday guides suggest to avoid tap water and iced drinks, to insist that restaurant staff open new bottles in front of you or that you open them yourself, not to eat salad that may have been washed in tap water, and to try and only eat hot food from very popular busy markets. Avoiding certain seafood and meat may be overly cautious, but I suppose better to be safe than sorry. Upon searching I've noticed a video this year went viral in May of India Railways staff making and selling tea, but let's just say the water came out of no tap, lol (google). It's something to at least to be aware of. As for movies, there seems to be an Imran Khan comedy movie also called Delhi Belly (2011) :)
when you sleep face towards left(your body should be on left) it might make you feel more pain but that is fine it will go away soon
get well soon bhaiya
So, my husband and I are going to Jaipur in the fall. Can we avoid this by just eating in better restaurants? We're not on a terribly tight budget. We tend to do a mix of luxury and more local/low key things when we travel. I'm thinking the more street food-ish things may not be a good idea, and we should stick to better sit-down restaurants?
yeah. go to eat an indian buffet .. you will have some sort of protective barrier.
I mean, does your immune system fight off the infection and all you can do is take pain killers to make the pain go away?
Poor lad! At least you can continue You Tubing. I feel your pain here in Poland, Dude. I'm not a fan of pharmaceuticals (painkillers). Have you found any traditional (Indian) remedies, or Chinese perhaps?
Karl you can try some antacids like Eno for mild pain and for strong pain eat pepfiz by ranbaxy......or try gasofast by GSK i think....
U can also take gelosil or digiene liquid....
Guess that "Food Tour NOT in Delhi".... should NOT have been done in the first place :-D
