I having a really difficult time with this piece. I learned it in school and it was a jury piece but it was awful. This is my third time attempting the impromptu and I know 3 is a magic number in music so wish me luck y’all!! Yamaha Arius don’t let me down now
What makes you say this? Maybe they are trying to show off or maybe its a piano problem generally when you are familiar with a piece? What speed is the speed you would play it at and also what is the slowest it can be played at?
@@peterbalchin9274 I just think it's one of those pieces that is played so often, the way to show off your technique is by tearing through it as fast as possible. I forget the marking, but I've often heard it performed at silly speeds. As long as you achieve the smooth flowing line with the main melody, you don't need to rush things. Obviously it's too slow when individual beats are heard in the main line and it sounds like someone practicing their scales in 4s. For the record, I think almost all piano music gets played too fast. Hell, most music in general.
Hey Josh!! Really love your channel and find it very helpful, i played piano from 6 to 15 and then leave it, and now im recovering my skills! I remember my teacher giving me some advices you give. By the way i have a question, do you reccomend memorize pieces at the same time you are starting to learn them, or first try to play reading the whole thing correctly, then memorize, (or what i was used to do, i was terrible at learning and i just memorize the pieces by itself, by playing them a lot, and later i realized that was a problem if u are doing a performance and you forget some part...) Sorry for my bad english and keep it on, good job!
josh, i purchased the full length video and i’ve gotten a lot out of it but something that i’m struggling a bit with and that isn’t really covered in the video is the pedaling. it sounds like you’re not using much pedal if any during the A section. are you? if so how are you pedaling it? bars 3 and 4 sound muddled when i pedal them but some of the others sound too dry without it.
It is a major scale-don’t ever use the pedal when playing a scale. The left hand reach never reaches over an octave so it should all be practiced with finger legato. Only add the pedal for color
To make a point on what i said, dont think on easy pieces you dont even need to memorize, think onnlong mozart sonatas, chopin ballades or chopin polonaissen (which im currently learning)

Thank you so much for your teaching ❤️
You are indeed a very dedicated piano teacher
literally my fav teacher ever!
This has always reminded me of Sinding, Rustle of spring.
Very helpful! And covering a wide range of topics that cant be found in other videos. Many thanks!
haha i remember this beautiful piece, really was a joy to play xD
Very nice, this is my piece for my upcoming year at piano school.
Everyone plays this piece too fast.

true
I like Horowitz' performance. He uses the heavy touch that Josh Wright says not to use. It's fun!
@@Lebowski53 it is a fast piece, it is in allegro but also in triplets so it’s fast, but I do agree that some people take it a little too far
Josh your great 👍🏽 I just need your teaching 💋thank you🤗❤️
And I love you
Just teaching things
Hi, what's that mozart you showed while talking about touch and Maria Pirao?
Ya , I'm wondering what that is too. I'd like to learn it.
Neutral_Puma, it’s from one of Mozart’s piano concertos, I think.
Edit: Piano concerto no.9 III: Rondeau
thanks a lot, Lukas. It is the Mozart 9th concerto (3rd mov)! Also I realised he said Murray Perahia and not Maria Pirao!
Amado Roku Ali, you’re very welcome!
You are really good. Congrats!
Thanks for the help
Thank You!

Hey Josh do you think you could do a tutorial on Chopin's Étude Op 25 no 5?

I've got the same problem, I normally practice that piece without pedal and now I don't know how I can do it with pedal :)
I feather the piano: putting the pedal in halfway down and changing the pedal every quarter beat.
It is a major scale-don’t ever use the pedal when playing a scale. The left hand reach never reaches over an octave so it should all be practiced with finger legato. Only add the pedal for color
2:08 Which Chopin Etude was that?
DJ PREMO op.10 n.3
excellent.
Schubert died so young so sad he composed 1500 works in such a short life. If only he had lived longer there could be more impressions.
he was very prolific so that he could fulfill his God given mission in the short time he was given
