- Vernon was a very underrated player. He will be remember for his altercations with fans and opposing players but he was actually very skilled. The nickname Mad Max is a perfect because he had a very short fuse.

The younger generation know nothing about this no holds barred style of basketball. The 1980’s & 90’s were extremely physical and NBA players back then actually defended and had genuine rivalries. Players weren’t all buddy, buddy like today’s players. When we say today’s basketball players are soft, this is a perfect example of what my generation is talking about. I love 1980’s and 90’s NBA basketball!!!
