    DESCRIPTION:
China's Kubuqi Renewables Base in the Kubuqi Desert exemplifies a significant shift towards renewable energy. Spanning an area as large as 20 Central Parks, it will generate 16 gigawatts of power, enough for over a million homes. This project is part of China's plan to build 225 renewable energy bases across its deserts, with a combined capacity of 455 gigawatts. The initiative leverages China's vast desert regions, abundant in sunshine and wind, and benefits from heavy investments in solar panel and wind turbine manufacturing.
China's commitment to renewable energy is reflected in international agreements like the UN Paris Agreement and its 2030 climate pledge, aiming for net-zero emissions by 2060. However, challenges include transporting energy from remote areas to cities, managing excess production, and minimizing environmental impacts. Despite these hurdles, China's efforts have global implications, influencing neighboring countries and promoting green energy through the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

China requires old coal power plants to be demolished for every new plant. The new plants are supercitical thermal plants that burn 40% less coal for every kwh electricity produced. The net result is that coal usage is dropping rapidly

It also makes them less dependent on petroleum from the Middle East. That makes their military position stronger. I think that’s more important to Xi than climate change

When the sun doesn't shine and the wind doesn't blow. How does the country provide electricity. Even though we want to pursue 100% green energy .
We must not forget the state's obligation to provide stable and affordable electricity. The government must build gas power plant (German) Or Coal (China) To prevent power outages when the grit fails Or the wind doesn't blow. And the sun doesn't shine.

An interesting video, BUT the irritating, repetitive background noise is way too loud.
