This is so beautiful ❤ I come from the harp and piano, and want to learn to play the lyre. I bought a 16 string lyre yesterday and I can't wait to get started.
Your music and your playing are beautiful and enchanting ❤

    Simply beautiful
    God is so wonderful
    The healer of the sick
    And redeemer of my soul
    He is like the Sun
    Who can outshine him?
    In his presence
    Darkness shall not come
    Praise him oh ye nations!
Lift up your eyes to the heavens
Give thanks unto him for his wonders
May he be worshipped by thousands

Hello! I just stumbled upon this video. This was breathtaking! I have been interested in playing the lyre for a while. I was wondering, do you teach online? If so, i would be more than interested. I would love to be able to play beautiful melodies this this one.

Thank you for your lovely comment and I am delighted that you enjoyed this piece so much! I don't teach online but I have made just a few tutorials for the lyre under the playlist title "Lyre Tutorials." If it's of interest to you, I have a complete walkthrough of this particular song that goes slowly through each note for folks wanting to learn the song. Though I don't teach, I know that you can find all sorts of great information and guidance from Sharon on her station - @learningthelyreharp . I'm sure there are others as well, I am just most familiar with her work.
You are welcome to email me (enfoldedheartmusic@gmail.com) if I can be of aid to you in that way! All the best to you and your journey.

Regarding tutorials, are you thinking tutorials for specific songs or something more general? I'm open to doing some more instructional videos but want to see what would be most helpful for folks. Let me know what you think :)

Lovely composition and lyre playing and visually you make a perfect pre Raphaelite image... has anyone ever said you look a lot like Jane morris? -Here's a picture of her complete with lyre .. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jane_Morris . You have a beautiful singing voice as well ! 🙂❤️

Thank you for your lovely and encouraging message :) I'm delighted that you have enjoyed the music. Regarding Jane Morris, you are the first who has mentioned this ! I did have a good chuckle when I viewed the image that you shared - it's a bit uncanny to see some of yourself reflected back to you by the image of someone else ! A sincere thanks for your words and I hope the music continues to be a gift to you 😊

That’s lovely. What make of lyre are you using here? It’s just thr sound I’m looking for.

    • @enfoldedheartmusic
      @enfoldedheartmusic  Месяц назад

Thank you so much. The lyre I am using is one made by Ashthorpe, but unfortunately it appears that they don't make them anymore... However, the lyre I am playing in this video isn't anything particularly special or high end (cost was within the $70-$90 range) so perhaps others in that ballpark would sound similar? I wish I could say more but unfortunately this is the only one of this kind that I've played. Here is a link to the Ashthorpe website (ashthorpe.com/collections/lyre-harps) and one to the Amazon product if that's helpful for you (www.amazon.com/Ashthorpe-String-Mahogany-Strings-Accessories/dp/B099P2S68S).
Let me know if I can be of help in any other way.

@@enfoldedheartmusic thank you very much. There are quite a few in that price range with RUclips videos. Yours sounded particularly good! I’ll do some more research.

Catherine, your music is so peaceful, lovely, and enchanting, truly God glorifying. I play a small double strung lever harp, but I would love to have a little lyre like this because it is so portable. Could you recommend a good one? Thank you, and may the Lord richly bless you! Janet

Janet, thank you so much for your lovely message. I am genuinely touched and humbled by your words and am grateful that the music is speaking a little 'word' of God and glorifying him through it. This is my deepest desire in sharing!
Regarding the lyre, unfortunately there's not too much I'm able to say since this is the only lyre I've ever played, so I'm not able to speak about comparisons to others, etc. What I can say (and hopefully this is of some help to you) is that this particular one is nothing extra special, but has worked well for my purposes. It was in the $80-90 range which, as far as I can tell, is where most of them sit before you go to professional grade which is a different ballpark. It has a nice sound to it and has done well with lots of play-time, though I will say it doesn't hold the tuning well between sessions (temp fluctuation is part of this but I don't know how much).
The company I bought it from doesn't sell them anymore but here's a link to their homepage and then a link to the Amazon item where you can see details.

I'm sorry I'm not able to offer more than this...! Hoping your harp experience will be of aid to you as well and I hope you thoroughly enjoy the lyre. It's a lovely little instrument. Feel free to reach out via email (enfoldedheartmusic@gmail.com) if I can be of additional help.
May God bless you and may the peace of Christ abide in you and your loved ones always!
      Catherine

WHERE DID YOU GET THE iYRE? WHERE IS A GOOD PLACE TO GET ONE. AMAZON CAN HAVE AWFULL STUFF.

    • @enfoldedheartmusic
      @enfoldedheartmusic  10 дней назад

In the videos up right now, I used a lyre by Ashthorpe which I bought through their online store. However they don't sell them anymore.... It really isn't anything particularly special though as far as I can tell compared to others in the price range ($75-$100). It's the only lyre of this quality level that I have ever played so my knowledge is unfortunately rather limited.
However, I recently decided to upgrade to a higher quality instrument and am now playing a 19-string lyre crafted by Brandon John (a luthier who makes them in Pennsylvania.). I have two videos that touch on some questions and suggestions about which lyre to buy in two different videos. I say more there than I can say via typing here so it may help you out a bit more (:
-1- This one is about the old, less expensive one. Start about 5:45 for info about that lyre
      ruclips.net/video/re7ArZx9dqY/видео.html
-2- This one is about both the old and new. Has some thoughts about different structures of lyres as well. Start this one at about 13:10 ruclips.net/video/lST2rGU32iA/видео.html
You may also want to check out the channel @learningthelyreharp since I know questions of this nature are addressed there quite well. Feel free to reach out via email (enfoldedheartmusic@gmail.com) or comments if I can do anything else to be of help. All the best to you!
