    I bought the sheet music of this beautiful album today. I love these pieces so much ! Some of them have that medieval atmosphere to them that goes so well with the lyre. I haven't received my lyre yet, but have started practicing playing the pieces on my harp today. Beautiful beautiful ! ❤

    Will you still compose for the 16 string lyre,although you now have a 19 string one? I love your music. Mine is a deerhead 16 string lyre. I'd like to build a good repertoire for her but I'm scared of being limited by so few strings. I hope you will keep composing for the 16 string lyre ❤

    Hi Catherine, very much enjoyed this, I love your singing and it was great to read the words from scripture on the screen as you sang them. I even joined in a couple of times. There was one piece about following other God's and I was wondering what you thought. I know a few Muslims and Hindus, I even visited their mosques and temples and they are very nice and often very religious. Do you think God turns against such people. Often people are in a particular religion because their parents were that religion or that that was the religion main religion in that country. God wants a relationship with everyone. Can we blame people like this for being a difficult religion. Live to see what you think. Secondly my son in law claims to be a christian but his church doesn't celebrate Christmas or Easter and won't use crosses. ( they say if it were a gun he died by would you put that in a church. Do you think he is a christian? I love crosses because they remind me of what jesus did for us. Also I really like the catholic crucifix. Geoff

      @enfoldedheartmusic 4 дня назад

      Sure thing (: I'm glad it was helpful. In the videos up right now, I used a lyre by Ashthorpe which I bought through their online store. However they don't sell them anymore.... It really isn't anything particularly special though as far as I can tell compared to others in the price range ($75-$100). It's the only lyre of this quality level that I have ever played so my knowledge is unfortunately rather limited. However, I recently decided to upgrade to a higher quality instrument and am now playing a 19-string lyre crafted by Brandon John (a luthier who makes them in Pennsylvania.). I have two videos that touch on some questions and suggestions about which lyre to buy in two different videos. I say more there than I can say via typing here so it may help you out a bit more (: The strings are just the steel strings that came with the instrument. -1- This one is about the old, less expensive one. Start about 5:45 for info about that lyre ruclips.net/video/re7ArZx9dqY/видео.html -2- This one is about both the old and new. Has some thoughts about different structures of lyres as well. Start this one at about 13:10 ruclips.net/video/lST2rGU32iA/видео.html You may also want to check out the channel @learningthelyreharp since I know questions of this nature are addressed there quite well. Hi Catherine what a great treat it was for me to listen this music and when listened in conjunction with the words it was very powerful. I particularly liked the simple things because it reminded me of something. (My brother wanting to sell a painting to a relative and me wanting to give it to them for free.) Also the unusual psalm of threats on the shadows. I must read that psalm. I'm beginning to see why Catholicism is popular being from the time if jesus and full of truth while other traditions are more opinion and younger. I'd like to ask about salvation is baptism necessary and how to people get to be saved. Wouldn't it be sad if you were saved and a loved relative wasn't. Also I'd like to ask your opinion on near death experiences. Have you watched any on RUclips. Thank you Catherine. I know I always ask a lot but your so talented and your music makes me feel closer to God and the love of jesus.

      I'm glad you enjoyed it and appreciated the (perhaps) more prayerful presentation. I find it nice to have longer videos with visual and intellectual content that's more explicitly directed towards prayer, so I'm glad it was fruitful for you too (: Again, you have raised some excellent questions, so I will do my best to answer as I'm able though of course very limited given the medium of communication. Before doing so, however, you may find it quite helpful to have access to the Catechism of the Catholic Church since it answers many foundational questions in a quite full and beautiful way, and includes lots of scriptural citations and such. Perhaps you have already looked here but, just in case, here is a link if you would like to take a look www.usccb.org/sites/default/files/flipbooks/catechism/ (USCCB stands for United States College of Catholic Bishops, but it's the same catechism that's used by the Catholic Church universally). Regarding your first question - is baptism necessary for salvation? The shortest answer is to say that baptism is the "normal" means by which someone is saved. This is primarily based on Jesus' explicit command to the disciples to go and baptize in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. However, the Church also holds that God himself is not limited by the sacrament of baptism though he gave it to us as a gift. Two particular circumstances are outlined by the Church as exceptions to typical baptism. 1) If someone dies for the faith, this is usually called a baptism by blood and is recognized as a non-typical but efficacious form of baptism. 2) If someone truly desires baptism but is unable to receive for whatever reason before they die. This is usually called a baptism of desire and again is non-typical but efficacious. If you're interested in learning a bit more in depth, I'd look at the catechism starting on page 312 (or paragraph number 1213). For the second question - How to people get saved? This is an excellent question because it is so foundational to the "why?" and "how?" of the faith. This makes it also one that is worth more exploration than I'm going to be able to give here. The shortest answer, one is saved by Jesus Christ, is the foundational belief that makes a person a Christian. But what does that actually mean...? Perhaps it is most succinct to say that Christ's incarnation - his taking and uniting to himself a human nature - and Death and Resurrection, opens up for us the possibility of literally sharing his divine life with him. God himself as Trinity is an eternal exchange of love. That is who he is, what he is, and what he does for all eternity. Because God is the very foundation of all creation's existence (the fact that we 'are' rather than 'are not'), God as love is also the very essence of life. Sin, at its core, is our choice to live outside of or apart from this source of life. That is the very reason it leads to death, as God says in the garden of Eden. Death is not the punishment for sin but the natural consequence of separating ourselves from life itself. In Jesus' Incarnation, Death, and Resurrection, this chasm between God and humanity is bridged over, you could say, because all of creation is taken up into the divine life of Jesus and brought back into this communion of the Trinity's perfect love. Again, if you'd like to understand this in far more depth and from additional aspects maybe take a look at sections starting on pages 146, 164 , 97 of the catechism. One additional thing to note about these questions particularly in response to your comment about a relative not being saved. There is a tension here since God desires that all be saved yet he does not offer salvation by forcing it upon us. In order for salvation to truly be a gift and an act of love, our acceptance of it must be free and therefore not violate the free will God has given us. That is to say that God does not close the doors to heaven to anyone yet there are some who do not desire and do not choose to enter the door that as open. Now, judgments regarding who is saved and who is not while on earth, Jesus explicitly tells us we are not to judge that for only God sees with absolute clarity and truth, the heart of each one of us. Page 431 might be a nice spot to look at in the catechism. Regarding near death experiences, I haven't watch but one or two on RUclips. I find them fascinating but for myself I find it also a good practice to not take them as absolute truth claims. My primary reason for this is simply because each of us interprets our own experiences and while there is typically at least some truth in our interpretations, there's also going to be limitations to our interpretations. I recognize also that these near death experiences are going to be quite personal and so for me to take them as a universal truth seems like a bad idea. I hope this helps a bit Geoffrey! Again, these are great questions so they deserve much more than I'm able to speak to here, but I will continue to pray for you and hope this helps a little on your journey. God bless!

      Thank you so much for your answer and the catechism Web site it is so interesting so il be looking into it a lot. I was also thinking of buying a catholic bible as I think I'd like to read some of the things not in the anglican bible. In church this week the sermon was about the narrow path and the wide path. Let's pray I'm on the narrow path. Once again thank you. Your explanations really do make me look at things in a different way. Your music and your knowledge I value very much. Prayers to you that you'll continue to be such an influence on other Christians.

      I might be misunderstanding your question (: but I don't actually play on both of them anymore, it's just that some videos were recorded before I received the larger lyre. Soon, the videos will just be with the upgraded one. At least that's my plan as of now.

    Hi Catherine this was great you sing and play so beautifully. Read psalm 131 and its fantastic, it's got to be a favourite. I found it very encouraging and very calming. How nice it is not to bother with big things that don't really concern us and instead live simply appreciating our heavenly father. Read also about Catholicism to try and understand more about it. It was nice but a couple of things I found troublesome. Firstly gay and trans people I think are born that way and I think god loves them too. I had a gay man say to me once that God wouldn't want him. Secondly priests and nuns sometimes have a bad reputation. But I'm sure that's been too general. Live to hear what you think. Loved every second of this video. Geoff

      Geoff, Psalm 131 is certainly one of my favorites! I could not agree more with your comments on it. Living simply with trust and fidelity like a child to our heavenly Father. What gift this is! I appreciate your questions and concerns about Catholicism and though I will inevitably fall short of a full answer due to the medium, I hope to give the best answer I'm able (: First, without question I am in full agreement with you regarding God's love for gay and trans persons. Without exception (and this is aligned with the teachings of Catholicism), each person is uniquely and absolutely loved and desired by God for their own sake. Just as it says in the very beginnings of scripture in Genesis, God made man and "saw that it was very good." Though a simple statement on the surface, this is of absolute importance and I truly grieve at the hurt many Christians have caused their fellow brothers and sisters by not authentically loving persons who identify as gay or trans. I am so sorry to hear of the gay man you spoke of....how can a person live the life of true joy that they were created for when they believe that the very one who created them does not desire them...? I appreciate what Pope Francis has said and written in this realm because (it seems to me) he has made it very clear that those within the LGTB community are not to be treated as anything except the persons and children of God that they are. Our point of disagreement is then in your belief that God has created some persons with sexual orientations towards other persons of the same sex as well as some persons who are actually the opposite sex of their given body. Unfortunately, I am going to fall short here due to what is appropriate for this online space. However, it seems clear to me based on truths revealed in scripture and the natural order of creation that sexual relationships were designed by God in his ordering of creation to unite a single man and a single woman for the purposes of uniting them in a special bond which is oriented towards the possibility of new life. Because of this, I find the teaching of the Catholic church to be the safeguarding of this truth and can't give my agreement with the idea that God created certain persons with a desire that is fundamentally in contradiction with the designs of creation. This does not mean that persons don't have the desire (obviously many authentically do) but rather that this desire is not one given by God but a disordered expression of a deeper and more fundamental desire for love and communion. If God were to create in such a contradictory, this seems to me to be something that would be cruel. Similarly, because God creates every person and because each person is a unity of body and spirit, for God to create a person with a body and a spirit in conflict seems to me to require the belief that God made a mistake, which is in contradiction with the nature of God himself. However...none of what I have said means that persons who have these experiences don't really feel these attractions or don't really feel that they are in the wrong body. This seems to me to be a rather insulting position and the Church does not hold that these desires are sinful, but that they are pointing to a different, deeper, truth and desire and should not be lived out in ways that are contradictory to nature and therefore ultimately harmful to the person. Nor does it mean that the relationship between persons in a same sex couple is wrong in every way - no, there are frequently many very beautiful things about this relationship (genuine friendship, care for the other, a desire to know another deeply, etc.). I need leave it for now due to length, but I must say once again that the persons must never be forgotten. Every one of us struggles with sins, with sinful inclinations, with desires that are immature or disordered and we must relate to each other from a place of profound humility, compassion and a genuine desire to know the other as we walk together and are transformed more and more into the children of God that we were created to be.... Regarding your second point, I suppose all I can really say is that you are unfortunately correct... there are many priests and nuns who not only have a bad reputation (that is more something that considers the one holding the opinion), but have sinned and hurt others in profoundly deep ways. The two points I come to when considering this is that 1) all Christian communities are full of sinners since of course we are all sinners.... even sins of sexual abuse (perhaps the most abhorrent of all) is not a distinctively Catholic problem though it's often portrayed that way. This is absolutely by no means to push it to the side. I wish only for quite the opposite; that such activities are immediately brought into the light and cease. 2) the wrongful acts of priests and nuns are not condoned by the Church so the distinction between the sinful people of the Church and the Church as founded by Christ himself (since this is the claim Catholicism makes), should be distinguished and then secondary questions perhaps can come up at that point. I'm not quite sure what else to say on this point simply because it's a bit broad but there's at least a taste of a response. Ah, I hope this isn't ridiculously overboard...! (: The lengthiness is only because I find your questions and concerns important and worthy of at least a decently full response. I hope this helps you in some way, Geoff and appreciate your thoughts. God bless you!

      Hi Carrissa, Thanks for your question and I hope you've enjoyed the channel! Happy to have you. In the videos up right now, I used a lyre by Ashthorpe, however they don't sell them anymore.... It really isn't anything particularly special though as far as I can tell compared to others in the price range ($75-$100). However, I recently decided to upgrade to a higher quality instrument and am now playing a 19-string lyre crafted by Brandon John (a luthier who makes them in Pennsylvania.). I have two little videos that touch on some questions and suggestions about which lyre to buy in two different videos. I say more there than I can say via typing here so it may help you out a bit more (: -1- This one is about the old, less expensive one. Start about 5:45 for info about that lyre ruclips.net/video/re7ArZx9dqY/видео.html -2- This one is about both the old and new. Has some thoughts about different structures of lyres as well. Start this one at about 13:10 ruclips.net/video/lST2rGU32iA/видео.html Feel free to reach out via email (enfoldedheartmusic@gmail.com) or comments if I can do anything else to be of help. Hi Catherine beautiful as usual. Love the jesus I trust in you picture. Your music not only allows us to dwell and think about jesus but inspires us to read the scripture your singing about. I sometimes wonder why gods love is so strong when I sometimes I wonder if I'm worthy of it. I have a Catholic priory near me which I love to visit even though I'm Anglican. Love the little chapels with the candles burning. St jude is my favourite. Thanks again you always make me feel very blessed. Geoff

      Geoff, Thank you for your beautiful comment. I am heartened to hear all that you've said about the picture and the psalm songs - it all applies to myself as well! I find the picture to be an anchor point and do my best to write and record the music from this place of trust in Jesus (though this is a continued journey as I imagine it is with us all). I suppose that's why it seems right to keep it in the background. And I hope to continue singing and writing songs with scripture for the very reason you have mentioned; it's an invitation for me to spend time with and to pray with the text in a deeper and more prolonged way. How great God's love is...how tender, powerful, and merciful.... How could we ever be worthy of it....? I suppose it is perhaps because we know we never could be worthy of it, that we can come to understand how it really is a pure and genuine gift - a gift of love and a gift from love. It is lovely to hear about the priory and your visits there. St. Jude is the patron of the church I grew up in so he has always been one of my favorites too (: I find it heartening that as an Anglican, you visit the Catholic priory. It is such a loss to have the many lines of division within the Christian community and I pray for greater unity as we gaze upon Christ and look to him as the way, the truth, and the life. God bless you, Geoff

Id love to know how youve been able to mast so many instruments. Also id love to know if youve always been a christian or whether you found christianity. Your certainly my type of christian. Hi Geoff, Thank you so much... I am tremendously grateful to hear that the music helps you to be a better Christian. What a beautiful way for God to use this little bit of music.! In short, there are several instruments that I have tried and just didn't 'click' with, so you are only seeing the ones where grace has allowed the music to be given :) But my background in piano helps me to understand music composition broadly speaking which I am able to apply to any instrument. I have also always had a little fascination with the way instruments work and there is a sense in which with some instruments I gain a more intuitive sense of how they cooperate with my bodily movements (breath / air, the pull of my fingers, etc.). This is a beautiful and very wonder-filled adventure for me and with these instruments there develops a kind of natural connection between my movements and the musical sound each instrument creates. Though, as I mentioned, with many instruments this didn't quite happen or I wasn't as drawn by the beauty to discover them more deeply so this didn't develop. To answer your second question, yes, I was raised as a Catholic Christian and have remained so throughout my life. Of course, as with any relationship, my relationship with Christ has deepened, matured, and become much more substantial as I have grown, but my parents did grant 'me the tremendous gift of raising me in the faith. It seems to me, however, also accurate to say that I "found Christianity," in the sense that there were many moments of conversion that were (and still are) necessary for me to be drawn more and more deeply into the life of the Trinity. I certainly hope this conversion continues throughout my journey! (:
