We differentiate between what a primary and secondary headache is, as well as defining the three types of primary headaches. The primary headaches include migraines, cluster, and tension type headaches. We discuss the clinical features that can help to distinguish between these types of headaches and how these headaches are diagnosed and treated. As a longtime medical educator, I should come clean that I discovered your channel when reviewing for my board recertification boards (every 10 years), and was so impressed with your teaching style that I now consider you a mentor. When working on a presentation on a new topic I now look to see if you have done the topic and watch for ideas. You are so organized, knowledgeable and clear. We docs are not taught how to do the teaching that we are expected to do, and Love watching a master in the craft!
This is one of the most self aware and honest statements I've heard from a medical educator! Thank you for your honesty and your desire to teach well! That means more to us students than most other things!
So often the lectures in medical school fell short, most medical students in my class didn't even bother watch the recorded lectures but come straight to outside resources. Lecturers who use this style have always been a favorite for students.
The more I watch you videos the more I am amazed of your gifted mind/skills. You make the topics look easy to learn and your humor and enthusiasm invites to learning. Please keep teaching the community like this. We need doctors like you to make medicine career enjoyable. Thank you for your effort and enthusiasm!!!
I Bow for you sir 🙌🙌..my degree belongs to you sir..
Lol
I used to avoid your videos because they were so long but I needed more detail on a subject and it is incredibly in depth. Think I found my favorite new A&P tutorials
Doc Ninja! I’m so glad you do these! Your work has saved me so many times now I just go right to your site when I start studying. I’ll put a caveat on my degree for you!
non-medical student here to learn more about my own migraines- you rock! thanks for making this fun and digestible! I love all the drawings!!
If I have strong headache and migraine the only medication I do is. Fresh he genger like 1/4kg and boil it like half of 1.5 Litter of water. If you target a strong taste of genger, I swear in 5 minutes you will feel how you can feel better. Not only headache I can used it to whole my body pain no need any medicine.😊 the more spicy taste the more better
Monoclonal antibody treatment for migraines had changed my life. Seriously. After having 11 and more migraines per month to having one per two months - I can live again. And yes, nothing else worked.
Every time I think Zach couldn’t get any better he proves me wrong...
Thank you!
Aww! I really wanted you to do this topic. It's simple, but you make everything easier to recall. Thank you so much.
You always knows what your viewers/students needs, in advance!!! thanks for all the sessions especially on Neuroscience. Your time and efforts greatly appreciated.
Ninja Nerd Videos are the best! You are an amazing teacher and if it wasn't for your extraordinary ability to explain topics with such ease and passion- I would have lost interest in my physical therapy training. Keep doing what you do because it helps inspire and motivate!
Brilliant first time I understood headaches. Have attended many headache conferences none makes it simple to understand . They make is too complex and actually the whole pathophysiology now I get it . Will be more informative to my patients
As usual- you saved the day! Have always dreaded the migraine HA lecture, but you have made it so easy! Thanks!

Thank you for making this clearer then the textbook. You and your teams save me.
you helped me understand migraine pathophysiology better in the first 10 seconds than the whole week I've studied it. thank you!
Headache presentations are often confusing and difficult to recall. Your presentation is simple and easier to memorize. Thanks, you are a gifted teacher and very much appreciated.
Great drawing of snoop dizzle. I like how you look at different approaches, never thought about secondary causes, just the primary.
I watch all the ads till the end so I can help you back in a way. You deserve the best, keep going!
- Love from Lebanon
My lecture at Uni was just on headaches, I can’t wait to watch this video!
your way of prsentation made it easily comprehensible, thank you so much.
Dear Zach
I'm a practicing physician and a medical scientist. I rip through medical literature for bread and butter. I find your presentation succinct, accurate, attractive and super useful for bedside approach. Thank you and keep up the good teaching! Cheers 🥂
Bored out of mind in this Lock down with online classes

Have recommended this to my students as we are busy with neuro! Great job
Thanks for this video as a registered and a sufferer of Sporadic Hemiplegic Migraine this is a fantastic understanding of anatomy physiology. 👏
I have learned so much from you in several of your videos. Thank you so much!
Thanks so much, very helpful and easy to understand!
I'm watching this video for my personal education, but your neuro videos are giving me chance to pass Neuro. The service you are providing is invaluable. I feel like it's too common that professor's who are most likely very intelligent, just don't know how to teach. You do, the information actually stays in my head when I listen to you.
You're so passionate!! You are the only one who can make neurology so interesting for me! Thank youuuuu!
You are very good and well organized. Im a NP student and I follow you to get a better, clear understanding of subject matter. I really appreciate all the work you put into this and it shows. Thank you
I love they way you teach, making medicine look like a fun and too easy to learn new information.. thank you really please do more videos about other diseases that we can’t find videos about.🌸🌸🌸
You are the best professor in the whole world to me you are always good in conyeing grief of the subject
I can't find the best word to say "Thank you!" Dr Zach. Your teaching pattern is something that the field of medicine needs for now and the future. Thank you!
I only wish you were around when I was in medical school many years ago! God bless you Zach!
Great lecture... Doc... much appreciated ur outstanding efforts... keep up the great work...!!! ❤❤❤
Awesome and fun video as usual Ninja Nerds!
you explained everythings I need to know and more literaly thank you (best of the best) 👏👏
Just stumbled on your video. Yep, you guessed it, I'm interested in the source of my own migraines. I feel better prepared. I'm about to get an MRI, but more importantly I'm better prepared to talk with my neurologist.
I am better when I get up, rarely get relieved by laying down, and I either get up and medicate (immitrex mainly), if it doesn't go away. If I stay in bed, it will absolutely get worse.
I have no idea where I stand given all those topics, symptoms, etc. But I'm grateful to learn about these red flags. I do get auras, always with out the headache. Even days later. I'm female, 68, obese, and lately hypertensive. I am getting stressed, taking care of my mom, a dementia patient, and work full time. No doubt the cause is somewhere in these symptoms known or unknown.
Great job you did on this lecture. I am a training manager with about 25 years, and you are a fantastic trainer/educator. Thank you!!!
Great lecture as always, Ninja Nerd!
I'd like to make a little correction, though: The optic chiasm is located directly above the pituitary gland and so pituitary adenomas, which grow upward from the pituitary stalk, compress the optic nerve from below.
As a person with chronic daily cluster headache, thunderclap headaches and trigeminal neuralgia, I truly appreciate this video.
Thank you for raising awareness!
You poor thing . I also have these . Hope you feel

Thanks a lot for a comprehensive lecture
Thanks! Excellent explanation
One of the most helpful videos I ever did see
Very useful video and I learned a lot, really nice flow to it. Just had a question about the clinical diagnosis of tension headaches, you mentioned they shouldn't have photo and phono- phobia but then the third point you said they have increased sensitivity to light and sound. How are these different?
The fobias are quite extreme, sensitivity is not that bad.
You are a Godsend! Thanks for doing this.
incredible video, just thank you from France !
Amazing as always 🤩❣️
Dude, that sleeve is way nice. Hell of a teacher too. Keep it up!
