It really doesn't matter does it? The alcohol is metabolized into the lungs where you breathe it out. As far as I'm aware it should still register the same
He already refused the test. Also experts say that drinking something doesn't effect the test it's bs that defense lawyers use. They also claim it makes the result higher not lower.

So I've heard of cops allowing someone to come and get the car for drunk drivers. The drinking water and no cuffs is definitely wrong.

I live in Texas now but I am from North Carolina and I heard him say Boone. I spent most of my life there and had a bad car accident in Blowing Rock and was in the hospital in Boone NC. Absolutely a beautiful place to camp and ski in the winter.

Body worn cameras are making great strides in fixing some of the long-term problems with law enforcement receiving special treatment. It's exposing how bad the problem had become. But even now, we saw an officer being allowed to drink water before a breathalyzer test, being un-cuffed while in custody in the back of a police vehicle, and being treated with courtesy well past the point of non-compliance which would have seen a common citizen slammed to the ground with additional criminal charges.

Just another deputy that got his position by kissing the proper asses and thinks he's not subject to the law because of his position. The trooper was way beyond patient with him and is to be commended for enforcing the law fairly and firmly. I know all Sheriff's are not like that but seems like an inordinate amount of them think they can politic their way around the laws that the rest of us have to follow. There are good and bad players in every profession....just boils down to character.
The trooper with the chief, in a lot of cases, the officer would have let the chief go and the cam footage would have been deleted or at least hidden.
First video, state trooper admitted that camera was there, he meant he could give a break to chief if camera wasn’t there 😅

My best friend back in 2014- 2017 was a police officer for a socal PD. Went to numerous house parties and get togethers. Let me tell you when cops drink they have no care in the world that they have to drive home. I’ve seen cops drive literally still drinking when leaving.

Yet another example of why people fckin hate cops. While it might be minor in comparison to his current situation but what did he need to run the wife's name for? Checking her for whatever was unnecessary as well as unlawful. She hasn't committed a crime. If he just wanted to get the name of the person he was releasing the vehicle to, fine, ask her name. But there was no need to run her name.

Here in Australia you get put straight on a breathalyzer the interaction takes all of 15 seconds.

The deputy chief sheriff knew that he was wrong for drinking alcohol and driving, he should have called a Lyft or his wife at the bar, it's a smart move
There is no good officers, in that first video I can’t count how many accommodations that drunk driver was given. Any other citizen would been on the floor in handcuffs, not given the opportunity to “see where your at, I still have discretion”, car towed, ass thrown in the back seat. Any officer and their position means nothing it’s a title you still have to abide by the law and as far as I am concerned as soon as an officer starts trying to bypass the law they are corrupt and require removing from the force the public want to have trust and that trust is gone as soon as any officer starts to try & bypass enforcement
At first I thought the 20 year old combative smoking pregnant woman was an idiot, but this is probably the smartest thing she's ever done. Hopefully she'll start making better life choices and get her other kid back from the state when she gets that lawsuit money!.. though the odds of that get to be on par with winning the lottery
Good job to all the officers on duty. I'm a former Texas police officer, and I know it was hard to have to arrest a fellow officer, but it was the right thing to do. It is really disappointing to see a fellow officer breaking the law,and thinking he should be treated differently than any other citizen. Those officers obviously don't have the integrity to be a police officer and should never be aloud to work in law enforcement ever again. When we take an oth to uphold the law, we must hold ourselves to a higher standard, and set an example for others to follow. If we can't do that, then we have no right to put on the badge.
