Watched several of your videos today and I could write another comment on how amazing your dioramas look and what a pleasure it is to watch you build them, but others have already done that many times. I just wanted to say how happy I am that I found this channel.
Thank you, very kind…. Glad you enjoyed the builds - and although obviously pretty time consuming are a lot of fun to put together.. The aim of the channel originally was to just show a few people what I did, seems to have gone pretty well….😄👍 Thanks again!
@@Barbarossamodels You're most welcome. It's also a great inspiration. I got back into modelling a year ago after a hiatus of about 17 years and dioramas were always my favourite thing. So don't be mad if I steal a trick or two ;) Especially from your great WWI dio. Working on some british soldiers at the moment and planning on turning them into a small scene/vignette. Looking forward to more of your stuff. Greetings from germany.
Thank you Neil, appreciate the comment! Glad you enjoyed the video, that’s one thing we don’t have here is a good model shop….thank goodness for the internet 🙏🙏 Cheers!
😯That’s from the pro himself….have to try & keep up with the competition! 😁 Thanks mate, appreciate that…found you can never have too many mushrooms in a dio….🍄🍄😊👍
Cheers Alan, thanks for that! I did have a few rats knocking about, or even considered Miniart’s infamous pigeons…..but felt I’d done enough. Anyway there’s plants….that’s kinda wildlife 😄😄👍
Cheers, had the mushrooms for ages in the spares, and they were perfect for right at the front there. The Sherman took me. a-g-e-s…., but so pleased with the end result, the stowage really helped personalise it 🙂👍
First class Simon! Your presentation is second to none on RUclips, I believe you have the best format. You work extremely hard on all your dioramas and I always look forward to see your exquisite work, from your Fire Safety to the mushroom corner, inspirational. Stay safe.
Thanks as always Mark, very kind! Always like to put the effort into the videos, keep them rolling along😊 Details I find is what it’s all about, learnt that over the years, from the Verlinden books to the fantastic work on FB, Instagram etc… Mushrooms & Fire Safety I find are an essential ingredient in any good model diorama …😄🍄🔥👍👍
Thank you Michael, I’ve picked up a nice little collection of sample music, RUclips Studio have some excellent audio resources, the right music can really help things moving along…. Glad you enjoyed, thanks for commenting 🙂👍
@@Barbarossamodels Your welcome and Thank you very much for replying to my comment. I would love if you could take a quick look at my page and any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers Jason, tbh apart from painting the black & white bit on the sleeper, it wasn’t a patch on the railway wagon & Sherman 😄 Thanks for the comment 🙂👍
Absolutely outstanding, superb attention to detail Simon. Never surprised, always impressed. You make it seem so effortless. Looking forward to the Café diorama 👍🏾
Hi Martin, thanks bud, appreciated as always! How I wish it was effortless 😓😁, but really enjoy the videos almost as much as the models themselves. Have some nice ideas for the cafe, starting with that very soon. Thanks again👍
A wonderful diorama full of excellently executed details, all of which are perfectly coordinated and harmonize with one another. A very beautiful masterpiece! Congratulations, Simon. Greetings, Joachim
Thanks as always Joachim, very kind! Enjoy thinking of little touches like the wine bottle, fire bucket & of course mushrooms - always adds that little extra👌 Cheers for the feedback!🙂
Just wanted to say how incredible this diorama is. You are the best modeling and diorama building channel on RUclips in my opinion because you research and spend a lot more time on your dioramas. Love the Sherman and everything about it. Looking forward to future videos. Keep the great work up.
Thank you so much….. Have to admit there are much better modellers than me out there on RUclips, but I do like to put the presentation into the videos! Having a back story is important, & researching things a little first helps with that. Really pleased how this dio turned out, just how I’d hoped. The Sherman was a really nice build too, happy with that one!! Thanks for the comment, really appreciated - brand new project video will be up this weekend 🎬🙂👍
Lovely job as always ,the strawberry farm in st peters used to have a Sherman and an 88 anti aircraft gun I don't know what happened to them it was in the 80s
Wow, I wish they were still there now…😞 I grew up just down the road from there in the 80’s, unfortunately the Strawberry Farm has long gone, it’s all houses now! On the plus side, many of the bunkers & fortification sites have now been renovated & opened to the public, some incredible places now to visit….even got a couple of models on display in one of them which is great 🙂👍
@@Barbarossamodels the strawberry farm shut down and become the gold moths and crazy golf course when I was last over there ,I was playing and exploring them while they were all closed up ,I think I still have pictures of them I will see if I can find them and DM you on Instagram
@@rileykairc that would be nice to see Riley, as we slowly became less & less of a big tourist destination like we used to be in those days, many of the big attractions closed down & disappeared….real shame😞
What a great conclusion to a fantastic build Simon!! The tools came out great, and the feeling of dread on the German soldiers face is very real! Super nice job!! I've not done a building in any of my stuff, but looking at your dio's, I really need to try my hand at it!! Thanks for a great build again and I look forward to your next one!! (I also love the photo treatment on the last shot of the tank, neat effect and I like how it ends the video!!)
Hi Bill, thanks for that! Hornet heads are excellent to try to depict an expression to help with the story. The original head on the German was good enough, but I wanted a little more fear😨. But he could’ve been laughing, shouting, eating, singing (or sleeping?). Love hornet heads! I recommend giving a building a go too. The ones I’ve recently got from Gero Design are excellent, Miniart nice too, but require a lot of initial work. There’s Verlinden, or even give these a try - very nice too:-www.diodump.com/ With your expertise in scratch building interiors you can have a field day with the possibilities, as usually there’s no interior detail on the kits. First time I used that ‘cartoony’ effect as well on an image, thought it looked quite cool…😎 Thanks for the feedback mate!
Another masterful project finished....and beautifully done! Loved all episodes as the whole drama created the essence of life at the end of the war....raising the question....where are the workers? what happened to them? Excited to see your next project and how you capture US soldiers at rest.
Cheers Robbo, appreciate that! Really nice project to work on, even turned out how I’d hoped😁 I think the workmen are long gone once the Americans advanced through the town, at least they’ve a nice bottle of red for when they get back…..😄😄🍷
Hi, apart from a couple of older ones in the attic, they’re all in 2 display cabinets…., each dio purposely built to size to fit in the space that’s left. Actually have 2 going on permanent display somewhere soon, will post photos up on Instagram & share here on the channel on the next video…. Cheers 🙂👍
Again another awesome diorama!!! How would you go about making a tank look as if its wet from being out in heavy constant rain for days, i thought about gloss but dont want it to just look like a glossed tank...... thanks!!
Hi, usually for wet effects, normally on groundwork or walls, I do exactly that. In the past I’ve used AKs Glossy Varnish AK777, AK Wet Effects 079, or for mud even regular clear varnish is good. But for the tank, perhaps give the Wet Effects a go? If you’re putting it on a base/dio, & you obviously make the surrounding area wet & muddy, then the tank won’t look out of place looking a bit shiny?? Maybe try on an old model or part first to test the look? Think I did similar on a model with melting snow before & it looked ok?
@@Barbarossamodels brilliant, i will give that a try. It will be on a diorama on a wet muddy field with craters filled of water so should blend well hopefully, thanks!
I was with you , right up to the J- word! Five men wouldn't fit in a Jeep. A Dodge WC51 or WC52 however! They were built to carry an Eight man team. Though there did a lot of other jobs. Cable trucks for feild phone networks, medical vehicles from carrying stores to feild ambulances. Lightrepair trucks, . Plemty of scope.
Hi mate, ahhh you’re jumping the gun there😄😄 The jeep isn’t for those 5 guys, it belongs to someone else in the scene! Got the idea from some US film footage….(there’s a clue there😊🎥🤫)
Fantastic work, love the mushrooms and the little labels on the bottles, such detail on every square inch.
Thanks again Gary, enjoyed using those little mushrooms, & Miniart’s bottles are excellent accessories for a dio… Thanks for the comment🙂👍
Out standing diorama. Your attention to details is out of this world. Looking forward to your next build.
