I have both of these (was actually able to order the Air prior to release). Yes very similar but I do feel the sound signature on the original OpenFit to be a fair amount better. That’s mainly due to the ability to create a custom EQ profile, which of course isn’t possible on the Air. Bottom line - if someone already has original OF, there’s really no reason to get the Air. But with that excellent price point on the Air, that makes sense for Shokz to bring out that model, to get more users at that excellent price.
Based on what you say, i should get the OF Original. I don't find in air earbuds to be comfortable, I want a portable on ear pair of earbuds which are portable but don't compromise on sound quality.
Am I crazy for preferring the banded version of bone conduction headphones? Peace of mind knowing I won’t lose one, easier to put on and take off, and are totally comfortable to just hang around the neck when not in use. I can’t be the only one seeing this right? Right?
I second this, one full charge lasts 8 hours which is enough for the whole day of work. I don't have to take it off and put in a case when I'm not using it I just drop it into my neck. One last thing in the pockets.
I am looking into new earbuds that might help with reducing tinnitus when worn because of transparency (often called ambient) mode and a feature now found in many earbuds across a variety of brands, each with its own take on the functionality. (note: the Apple Airpods Pro popularized it first and get a lot of great reviews for it, being again the gold standard on this feature/benefit too). I'd welcome any feedback from DHRME or their followers here re the usefulness of Shokz OF/OFA or other earbud recommendations for tinnitus?
I tired the OpenFit and have had many issues intermittent dropping during songs and sounding garbled robotic on phone calls. Have you experienced either of these issues on the OpenFit or OpenFit Air?
I owned a pair of Openfit and i could say. Aside from the fact that bass is useless in noise poluted country, none of the issues above had occurred to me
I bought the Open Fit Air. I was so impressed that I purchased the Open Fit. The best earbuds I have ever owned. For business phone and music, very satisfied. The noise cancellation and sound quality is better than the sub $100.00 earbuds.
Open fit sounds a tad better. Use them at home for music., The Open Fit Air a daily driver for phone use. Both are worthy and would buy again. Really enjoy this video.
Not sure why shokz give so few control options on these. Its not nice having to choose between track controls and volume control or media controls. They need to provide more control options in this day and age when the competition gives more control options.
You can actually control, for example, swiching to the next music on the right ear, and pause/play on the left one with double tap. And as for volume you can use long press on the left to turn down and long press on the right to turn up. That's what i use.
@@tactac1572 Yes but with respect to what the competition offers say the Tozo openbuds which is much lower in price the shokz don't seem to match up with what is given as control options.
I have both, but I got Open Fit for special price ($120) However, I think Air sound is slightly more natural, but both have similar problem on high volume: bass pop Air is a bit easier for me to put on without much adjustment. I just wish Open Fit supports LDAC and low latency. Open Fit is better for bass head while Air sound is more balanced (I just use normal on Air and I have bass tuned down a bit for Open Fit)
BUYER BEWARE: Shokz does not offer replacements components if they get lost. You will have to buy a whole new set if you lose an ear piece or charging case.
Since it is remotely related to ear hook design try Ifi Go Pod it is decent! my combo is CA Pathfinder and Blackstar source Sony nwzx707 and mkV yeah overkill 🙄 but when everything is put together a new reason to use old wired IEMs as wireless take it-anywhere factors let me know not many app fringes or ANC! Bloody it drives even my JH audio Jolene 😂 when you have a good ear seal you don't need ANC I use it in the gym!
I own both and even tho the freeclips have more clarity, they really lack in the volume department I can use the openfit in the subway perfectly fine , not the case with the free clips Unusable in the subway
@dariov5288 Hmm, haven't tested that but I believe it since the unit is so much larger. But I never use the FreeClip on max volume so for me that's not a problem. But the subway, you mean with all the noise there? Wouldn't an in-ear option make more sense for that environment?
The product I picked from HK in one of the store at Decathlon. 3 Months the product stopped working. It won't disconnect from the phone or Mac even after it's inside the charging box. The product is so bad that even though you manually disconnect its still goes and connect to the last known device. The battery drys off ... and left ear bud won't charge and right ear gets charged because some contact issue with magnetic. The product is failure ... and they sell at 60 // 70 or 80% discount. This company uses all 3rd grade chip and usb software made by some cheap company. Please avoid... and save your money.
Pop pop popsicle, Ice ice icycle, test test test...... Man i was so ready for you to say testicle 😂
Same ngl lol

7:56 I always thought it was testimonicals. Great video 🔥
Cheers James!
Great review. I had the original, which I gave to my son. I am now taking a shot with the Air due to the low price.
I love my Openfit originals, but since the price is so good on the Airs, I’ll buy some and try them out
Sticking with Openfit original. Your mic test convinced me to put my money back in my pocket. Noise control was better with original.
It IS the flagship!

Also the JBL soundgear sense pretty great I don't know why you haven't reviewed them yet
We do what we can! :D
@@DHRME they also got the open swim pro but 300 bucks
I was expecting tes tes tes ticle 😂 good job man
How many devices can each store, my qc35 can store 8 devices and connect to 2 simultaneously.
the specs say 5 connections can be stored within the earbud memory for pairing.

How do you think that earbuds can help with tinnitus? Or do you mean hearing loss?

The mic quality on both was unfortunately a deal breaker for me.

Wow. I love the new ones, but can't help feeling that this release kinda stinks for the ones who got the OG ones. :)
