PSA: If you loose or damage your charging case the earbuds are effectively bricked, they don't offer replacements. Apparently when asked about this they offered a 20% discount to buy a new set. Would not recommend
@@Patichu I'm sure other earbuds are the same, but brands like Bose do offer replacements as far as I can tell. I wouldn't recommend any brand where the charging case can't be replaced.
I’ve had Galaxy Buds Live for years and I wear glasses, they’re non sealed in ear buds. Battery is around 5 hours, case fits in a jeans watch pocket, and I’ve literally had conversations while vacuuming and people don’t know and can hear me fine, better than my iPhone’s built in mic. I keep the touch controls turned off because if you’re working out or moving a lot they will move some, but I sleep with them in so they stay in okay. ANC is pretty good for non sealed buds. App is the same for iOS and Android. Putting them in is weird at first but you’ll get used to it. I can heartily recommend the Live Buds.
I daily drive an older model of the OpenRun (from before their rebrand, AfterShokz Aeropex) and those hook over the ears as well. They go on over my glasses and I have never noticed any issues there.
I'm guessing since this is sponsored and they didn't showcase the mic quality, it must be trash. they said the battery life while on the phone decreases but nothing about the quality
I would have liked to see a more detailed noise leakage test for this type of earbuds - for example sitting next to each other with the distance you'd see on a bus. Also a comparison with the Sony LinkBuds would have been useful since they featured on this show before and have a similar concept at a similar pricepoint.
I’d have liked them to go into it but I can say from using them that it’s a very tinny sound can be heard in a very quiet place with a volume all the way up It’s extremely dependent on the noise environment since your brain is still taking in sounds through your ear holes
it is fine. I often take them off when someone sits down next to me in public transport to see if it is too loud. If it is not full power you cannot hear anything. The other way around is usually fine. You can hear other stuff around going on around you. Though that also means that when the subway kreeks again or breaks you cannot hear the sound anymore
A written review a while ago said there's definitely more sound leakage than the bone conduction ones. This is something to definitely be concerned about.
I have the none air version and i wear them for 8+ hours a day. Listening to audiobooks, taking teams calls, or jamming out to music. I would recommend for anyone in an office situation and out in public where you need to be aware of the sounds around you. I love shokz and have been using their products for years.
@jnextv what headphones with the same outside of your ear form factor are better for the same price? Inside my ear ones get uncomfortable fast unfortunately
as far as i'm aware, nothing like that exists. There are very very few low latency bluetooth buds, and i've never found any low latency bone conduction ones.
I have the openrun pro ones, and I love them. Really the only downside for me is that you can't lean your head on anything because of the wire behind your head.
There is a mini version which has smaller wire and after some getting used to to correct placement You can forget you have them on your head. Laying down, car seats, bean bags whatever You don't feel it. I have proper over ear headphones and those are more problematic than my shokz
I’ve had the open run pro for a few years and absolutely love them. Shokz has one of the best and easiest to use warranty’s around. They replaced a pair, even though it was obvious user error. That being said I bought the Openfit and hated them. They never fell off, but never felt secure either. My battery life was about 4 hours on them. Switched back to my old Openrun Pro and still love them.
Glad to see Shokz has made a cheaper version to their normal OpenFit. I have weird sensory things where if I can't hear my surrounds my brain kinda freaks out. Currently using Galaxy Buds Live but the battery on those has degraded a lot. Tried the Oladance OWS2 and Pro and those were ok, but the amp noise was nuts. Looking forward to trying these.
I tried the Oladance as well and couldn't deal with the amp buzz. My favourite open earbuds in terms of sound quality are the Sony Linkbuds, but they kept breaking on me, I had to RMA them 3 times in the year I had them (I tread my gear pretty nicely, I still have Sennheiser over head headphones from 2010ish that I haven't broke) and now that warranty was up I couldn't justify spending another $250CAD on something that I expect to break again. I've landed on the Shokz OpenFit, they're super comfy, sound better than the Oladance and have great battery life. Definitely recommend Shokz!
Bought these myself and I’m a bit surprised. I didn’t really expect there to be any body with these but even in standard they’re good. Of course they’re not audiophile grade, far from it, that’s the trade off with these tho. Most earbuds depend on the seal for good bass due to the tiny drivers, but these are not bad for an open air type buds.

Bought these immediately after watching this short. I was looking for good over-ears since they're so rare and I hadn't seen Shokz's OpenFit earbuds yet. Got them in today and after having used them for about half a day now I'm pleasantly surprised with how good these sound! I have really sensitive ears so I do feel a bit of pressure on the part where the speaker rests on the ear but honestly I'm just glad I can finally use earbuds because all in-ears were just too painful.
Glad to know LT Labs is doing battery testing. Both the Soundcore Liberty 2 &3 I got, based on LTT recommendations had battery lives 1-2 hours less than advertised.
I bought a pair of Soundcore V30i's-which are also open-ear earbuds-a couple weeks ago for around $45, and they've been extremely good for the price! I can definitely recommend buying this style of earbud at least, but if you wanna save a good bit of money over the Shokz, I'd suggest taking a look at the V30i's
I got a non-Air version for a while, super satisfied with it. I sweat easily so over-ear-type headphone is not suitable for me during summer, and I hate silicon tips that goes into ear canal, so this is along with their bone conduction type were suitable for me.
I own some openfit shokz (the ones before these) and they are fantastic, allows me to go to the gym+run without risking them falling out and I can hear traffic and the outside too, dont need to take them out if I need to speak to someone too. My ears get bothered by earbuds too so thats a bonus
I gotta say, my favorite wired headphones (going back a decade ago) were open air ones shaped very similarly to these. But I could never find wireless ones in that form factor. I'm actually quite interested in these, and they're priced well. Happy to have watched this.
Guys, you have such a big production nowadays, have you thought about making royalty free tracks that you would test in every video and just share those same tracks under the video where you test the sound on audio devices, so that we could do the same tests for ourselves using same tracks?
I love this idea for headphones. No matter the size or type of earbud I have never found one that fits my ear and didn't either hurt or slide out shortly after using it. My wife got me some weird "Lenovo x15 Pro" headphones that sit just like this and I freaking love them. Obviously the audio quality isn't amazing, but as someone who could never wear buds, I'll take ANYTHING at this point. We can go on walks and still talk while I have music playing, or I can go for a run and not have to worry about not hearing a car behind me. Don't know that I'd spend $120 for a pair, given the ones we found were like $20, but I hope to see more types and innovation in this space.
i don't like electronics now days (especially expensive items) when the battery dies, it's a disposable item and you throw it in the trash, especially when the electronics are still working :(
After about 5 years of absolutely abusing my old basic bone conduction Shokz they finally lost the ability to hold charge and I bought a pair of these on sale. They aren’t perfect but they’re great for listening to audiobooks and whatnot. He’s not lying, they are really light and I often forget they’re on. That being said, as others have mentioned you are SOL if you lose the case.
Half of the products on this channel are sponsored. This channel is literally just a "This product exist, here's information" channel, not a review. This has been the SOP since day one
Just got myself a pair and love them. I listen to a lot of audiobooks and podcasts and these sound great for that. I can still hear my kids but not so much that I can’t continue listening to I wear glasses and have no comfort issue. (I’m very picky about my ears. )
3:05 I say the same thing about the Galaxy Buds Live (the "Beans") which don't sound-isolate. Bought them specifically for this reason. (and I hate earbuds with the rubber tips)
I know this is sponsored but that frequency response graph doesn't lie there's literally no bass presence in these. Don't think these would be good for much beside podcasts
Knowing the other Shokz products these are likely gonna be pretty solid. I've got two pair of the connected versions of these that go behind the head. Though for the safety side you need to be careful to not turn up the audio so loud that you drown out all sounds. At that points it kinda defeats the purpose of not having in-ear headphones.
Def useful if you still like to hear your surroundings and don't like to be completely cancelled out for noise. If you want an actual earbud I think Airpods Pro 2 have the best Active Listening (terms of sounding close to normal w/o earbud). I have these Shokz and at 50% volume perfect sound, I can hear surroundings and music just fine. Snares could leak but honestly with ambient noises around no one should hear it unless its super quiet. Pushing 70% or using that treble boost does increase audio leakage, this is where you probably shouldn't go if the room you are in is super quiet.
I could do with some earphones that won't keep slipping out of my sweaty ears, but blocking out the terrible gym music is kind of a big part of what makes listening to my own music possible.
"Feels like I'm wearing nothing at all..." In such cases, you should make sure you are wearing pants. And underwear. Just to confirm that you are awake and not dreaming about wearing nothing at all.
Can confirm for their products being comfy for hours, my Aftershokz Aeropex (computer still says aftershokz and not shokz when I connect them), I can have them for hours but after just 3 years the battery only last 1 to 2 hours.
I have bought two pairs. I love them and have showed them to lots of friends/coworkers. Almost everyone loves them. The one thing is depending on how loud you like your music they can be a bit ticklish as they vibrate at higher volumes. They work great for noisy areas and if you still need to hear your environment.
Should add hair is a consideration. They need to rest against your head as much as possible to work. If you have a ton/unruly hair near your ears may be hard to get situated. Most people are ok though.
Save a $100 and get the Soundcore by Anker V30i instead. I bought mine earlier this year and use them daily at work. I absolutely love the open air sytle for the office. I can still hear what's going on around the room, yet still have my podcast or music on that doesn't disturb anyone near me. I also love the battery life (not sure on extended time, but I get a full 8-10hr work day on them) and the bluetooth range is great too. I can walk away about 30-40 yards away from my phone with them and not lose connectivity. I've found most of these are all based on similar technologies, so even though mine are a different brand, I bet the results are similar.
I used the openfit non air and i can adjust the eq more than the presets that you have on air. Got it to match closely to the aeropex since I used to use them for years but they have a flaw where the headband breaks after like 2 years of constant use
I'm a big fan of over the ear in this style. I use the ones that have the rubber plugs but I can pull them out to hear sold me and can jam uhm in if I want decent noise canceling. Kinda best of both worlds (the noise pass through is decent, and you can even just move the bud outside the ear canal) Great for podcasts and for general use. Prob bad for jogging and whipping my head side to side when allowing noise in they would for sure fall off.
I have the Bose quiet comfort 2 ear buds. These look like they solve alot of the issues I am having after owning mine for about a year and a half. If the case is not slippery then I am going for these next.
Hmmm I may pick these up. My ear holes are super tiny and I have never been able to wear ear buds comfortably. But I hate wearing over-ear style in the gym.
I've got a different pair of Shokz that fit the same way as these (OpenFit, like these they loop around your ear) and I love them. I hate the plug feeling of IEMs/normal earbuds, but I don't always want to wear over ear headphones. The Shokz are great, sound half decent, great battery life, I regularly forget I'm wearing them they're so comfy, and I love that I can wear them at work, at the gym, while walking my dog, and still keep an ear out for things around me.
The hook around the ear formfactor earbuds used to be more popular. My JBL Endurance II's have those earhooks. They're not the best audio, but decent and no stability or comfort issues.
Thanks for the video. Can we get an update on the Dual Noise-Canceling Mic pretty please? Would want to see if this a good option to use for work calls (both Teams and Phone).
I’ve tried these on in a Best Buy. Surprised me how good they were. I’d go for the non pros. From what I could tell they had higher IP ratings without worse sound.
I'm quite impressed after an admittedly short amount of time used but very comfortable so much so that I reached for them a couple times forgetting that I already had them on and the audio quality was also better than I expected. Obviously it does lose some of it because it's not sealed but I thought it would have been a more significant reduction in quality. The controls are a mixed bag, it's probably for the best that they are only hold or double tap to avoid accidental commands but buttons would be even better. Also any possible connectivity and battery issues won't be known until I've used them longterm. Initially though, I'm happy with the purchase.
Would have been good to include if both work independently; if it was mentioned I guess it went over my head. Also, do they support simultaneous connections?
Does anyone know how the volume on these compared to the Openrun Non Pro version? I have the non pro version and at max volume it is quite low listening to music/podcast
I much prefer these type of earphones. I have tried everything from airpods to cheaper chinese alternatives. None of them stayed in my ears if I so much as dared to open my mouth while moving with them in. Now I got some cheap ones like these, which hooks behind the ears. They never fall out. It's great.
open air is underrated. it is better than everything except bass. Comfort is all-day wearing vs in-ear or headphones. battery life much better than TWS. Can't easily lose these open airs. outdoor (even indoor use if you babysit take care children) use is topnotch because you can hear the environment clearly.
I considered buying these but I noticed something glaring. Those only have 7 hours of battery life per charge. But a single shift at my job can end up at 8 - 12 hours.
My buddy has a different version from that brand and really loves them. I want to buy a pair, we both walk outside for work all day and these are lifesavers. I think they're better than the Sony donuts
Did they fix/add easy auto connect to another device? ie. I have two of their products. Each of them has been paired with many of my devices but the most annoying thing about them is you need to disconnect with previous device before connecting with the next one (even if they're all already paired). You can't just initiate the connect from the next device. This is super annoying for a $200 product. My old earbuds from Samsung has easy connect and I can just connect with my laptop without having to go disconnect it first from my phone which could be in the next room or elsewhere in the house. If a $100 product can do this, they have no reason not to add this feature (if they haven't). Also, it's hard to hear someone talking to you if you have these open ear bone conduction headphones if you're listening to something. So it's not really "you can hear others". It's a mixed bag.
I bought the Shokz OpenFit earlier this year. They were on sale for $150. Since the OpenFit Air is only $120, I'm guessing it's a lower end version of what I have. I hope we see more of these open ear designs because I don't like earbuds in my ears. It's this or the big over ear headphones for me.
same, they get uncomfortable after a while. Also I would love to have IEMs, they just don't fit into my ear canal even with the smallest tip size. So I definitely wanna give these open air type ear buds a shot
You need to have a use case for them. They sound worse than headphones, or earbuds. But if you want something that won't fall off from your ears, something that allows you to still be aware of your surroundings (E.g. Riding a bicycle) they are awesome
The product I picked from HK in one of the store at Decathlon. 3 Months the product stopped working (Open Fit Air). It won't disconnect from the phone or Mac even after it's inside the charging box. The product is so bad that even though you manually disconnect its still goes and connect to the last known device. The battery drys off ... and left ear bud won't charge and right ear gets charged because some contact issue with magnetic. The product is failure ... and they sell at 60 // 70 or 80% discount. This company uses all 3rd grade chip and usb software made by some cheap company. Please avoid... and save your money.
I have the original OpenFit. Touch controls are horrible and will work poorly with a winter hat, in rain, etc. The over-the-ear type is also not great for glasses, sunglasses, etc. I swapped to the Bose Ultra Open, which - while more expensive - is just a much better product overall. Better sound, fit, design, comfort, controls.
The problem with all these products is that even if they’re really great quality and have better sound and noise cancelling, the software is going to suck due to Apple etc having a monopoly on their platform in terms of features
Why don't you ever cover type c earbuds? Their "battery" life is as long as your phone is charged, they are much cheaper, and you don't have to remember to recharge them.
PSA: If you loose or damage your charging case the earbuds are effectively bricked, they don't offer replacements. Apparently when asked about this they offered a 20% discount to buy a new set. Would not recommend

Half of the products on this channel are sponsored. This channel is literally just a "This product exist, here's information" channel, not a review. This has been the SOP since day one
this channel is for mostly sponsored products. For reviews there is the main channel or other channels
Do they work with very small speakers or vibrations?
Very small speakers
Small speakers ARE vibrations, bone conduction headphones are also basically just speakers in a different package
None of these type of earbuds do, but that's not what they're meant for
just get a butt plug with bluetooth sync and you'll have all the base you need
always enjoy headphones and earbuds reviews from James!
I like the bone conduction listening devices they make cause you can put ear plugs in and hear your content great while in a very loud environment
I used to have some Jabra that were on-ear with an extendable mic. Love those and can never find a similar design these days.
"Names" is kind of a funny nickname for a guy named James. From now on I will call you Names just like you asked :)
could you cover their bone conduction headphones. I would be more interested in that, because I'm working in a super noisy environment
Nothing at all... Nothing at all... Nothing at all 😂😂😂😂
Here for this comment
I used the openfit non air and i can adjust the eq more than the presets that you have on air. Got it to match closely to the aeropex since I used to use them for years but they have a flaw where the headband breaks after like 2 years of constant use
I'm a big fan of over the ear in this style. I use the ones that have the rubber plugs but I can pull them out to hear sold me and can jam uhm in if I want decent noise canceling. Kinda best of both worlds (the noise pass through is decent, and you can even just move the bud outside the ear canal)
Great for podcasts and for general use. Prob bad for jogging and whipping my head side to side when allowing noise in they would for sure fall off.
I have the Bose quiet comfort 2 ear buds. These look like they solve alot of the issues I am having after owning mine for about a year and a half. If the case is not slippery then I am going for these next.
The old man James reasoning is the reason I wear my shokz as often as I do.
Can you show how it looks paired with those Dyson face masks and a cat ears headband?
Thanks for the video. Can we get an update on the Dual Noise-Canceling Mic pretty please? Would want to see if this a good option to use for work calls (both Teams and Phone).
I think yall put the wrong link in the description. I don’t see the dji stuff in there
Just tried these today at Best Buy. Really consider getting them even before watching this. Best Buy also has an exclusive blue color.
These are surprisingly great
Also fantastic for people who's ear canal gets bothered from the earbuds, and doesn't want the huge annoying headphones.
What laptop is it? 6:56
If anybody doesn't get the reference at 2:06, I'm disappointed in you. Lol. I also 100% expected it from the title. Lol
I’ve tried these on in a Best Buy.
Surprised me how good they were. I’d go for the non pros. From what I could tell they had higher IP ratings without worse sound.
Thanks for the video!
Ordered these yesterday so this is a fun preview for what I'm about to get in mail.
It's great.
So you're saying that Ned Flanders would like these??
open air is underrated. it is better than everything except bass.
I think they're better than the Sony donuts
love the Simpsons reference! 2:06 😂
I have the old version and theyre great, however with phone calls battery only lasts 4-5 hours
That is an earphone. That kind of thing was the jam in the '90s
Very intriguing as a replacement for my Airpod Pro 2s but the lackluster touch and volume controls kinda put me off, unfortunately.
Huawei freebuds se 2, 50 bucks and have same sound quality as sirpods
Finally "airpods" that I might actually buy. I hate things inside my ears so this might be an alternative to larger on-ear headphones for me.
Someone spoonfeed me. What song was playing in the background?
"I love ignoring my kids as much as the next guy"
Thanks for providing tbe price!
I just hate airbud type of headphone. Having things in my ears isnt something I enjoy. These kind of over the ears headphones are the future, for me.
You can also checkout their openrun line. I have an older model and they are great for comfort
same, they get uncomfortable after a while. Also I would love to have IEMs, they just don't fit into my ear canal even with the smallest tip size.
So I definitely wanna give these open air type ear buds a shot
Been wondering if open earphones are any good
I prefer them
You need to have a use case for them. They sound worse than headphones, or earbuds. But if you want something that won't fall off from your ears, something that allows you to still be aware of your surroundings (E.g. Riding a bicycle) they are awesome
Hi 'Names' i just wanted to add that these ear audio playback devices are more sanitary rhe rhe popular others
One thing is that a lot of people use glasses or sunglasses, are they comfortable using them? , get Riley on the case!
I wonder how they compare to the sony linkbuds
Seems like a very sponsored video.
What made you think that, was it when he said it was a sponsored video?
ShokzCircuit!
do these still use bone conduction?
they don't use bone conduction, they don't sit anywhere close to your temple.
No word about audio quality?
So lacking, that shokz made you cut out that segment?
We call you names while others call you James.
I have shokz S810. There biggest design flaw is you cant change the ring tone volume... It is absolutely terrible.
weird, so these are open ear, but not bone conduction?
Bose Ultra Open earbuds have the exact same design, but with much, much better audio quality and noise cancelling.
Never thought i get recommended a video posted 1 minute ago lol
Can anyone compare the sound of these to the Powerbeats Pro?
The problem with all these products is that even if they’re really great quality and have better sound and noise cancelling, the software is going to suck due to Apple etc having a monopoly on their platform in terms of features
They have a great design. But open ears don't let you tune out the world.
" Feels like I'm wearing nothing at all..." Shokz OpenFit Condoms! Wear it, Forget it, and Regret it!
9:59 fin.
Why don't you ever cover type c earbuds? Their "battery" life is as long as your phone is charged, they are much cheaper, and you don't have to remember to recharge them.
Just take your regular sport earphones and remove the silcone ends... and you basically have this.
