Kronk isn't awkward at family reunions. He's the guy that can casually pull off going to _other_ people's family reunions and then get adopted.
Can't we all?
@@Pharaoh_Tutankhamen Not me. I've been disowned several times in one get together. The incident of epic awkwardness is not something that can be properly related here and nobody is entirely sure what happened anyway.
Suffice it to say that I still have no idea where the rope came from, nor why I happened to have a gas-powered post hole digger on hand. And grandpa never remembered why he was carrying a cordless drill around with a honey dipper in it that was loaded with BBQ sauce... Watching a toolshed dance the Charleston is a pretty uncomfortable sight to behold.

He’s a chef (as proven in the diner scene). Not liking a chef’s dish and saying so to their face is usually grounds for extreme violence (jk)! If anything, Kronk was holding himself back.

That's still hilarious to me how, despite seemingly being supposed to be that "villain's stupid sidekick", Kronk turned out to be [one of] the best characters in the whole movie, and it's even been proven with facts
@ibis03 It's like Ken in the Barbie movie, what was intended to be the butt of a joke became the best part of the entire movie.
I know this is a video about Kronk, but I really like the restaurant scene with Kuzko and Yzma. I feel like that’s one moment that sort of emphasizes the fact that she basically raised him, because although they have different tastes, that pickiness is definitely something he got from her.
Patrick Warburton has one of the greatest voices ever! “Oh yeah, it’s all coming together!”
True
Would love to hear a cartoon voiceover featuring Patrick Warburton and Brad Garrett from “Everybody Loves Raymond”
The voice reminded me of Serafinowicz. Now I know why: The both played the tick.
he was also in: skylanders as flynn who is iconic as well, and a series of unfortunate events where he uses more dark humor
His voice is one of a kind.
Kronk may be the ur-example of the himbo, but the guy only saw Pacha for a brief moment and managed to (after some time) piece together exactly what happened to Kuzco after he lost him in the crowd.
That 'aha moment' where he puts all that together proves that Kronk isn't stupid, he just processes things differently.
That is George of the Jungle neglect and I'll not have it in this house. 🤣
@@sylvirgiomanach1491 Oh, dang, that's true! I guess the two are kinda tied?

@@Austar7 a masterpiece, this movie 👌
One of the best things about this movie was the fact there was never a script. They just made the movie as they went. Which was why you got things like the "how did you get back here before us?" "Well you got me, by all accounts it doesn't make sense" the movie was mostly improv.
I don't believe that
@@steampunkguy2036 You might not believe it but it's true, the first and only draft of the movies script was made and given to archives 2 weeks after the movie was in theaters. Before then everything about the movie was pretty much just made up as they went. And even then that "script" was just randomly tossed together pages and records of the things that were in the finalized movie. This is actually a well known and famous thing in the movie industry.
@@-Offstar From what I saw the story was meant to be different and more serious (had gods of death and everything) but executives told them to change it and make it funny, so everything else from there was rushed and improv; worked out by a miracle.
Never thought about it before but now that you mention, it explains a Lot and the only thing that makes sense. You can tell they had a blast in its making
@@DuckieMcduck it wasn’t even that it was that the movie was failing in its current state and one of the directors took over the entire project basically saying “yeah this isn’t working, you need a movie, let me do my own thing and you’ll get a movie” and Disney were so desperate they just let him do it
Even Pacha's wife gives Kronk the nod of approval/ Adoption 3:09
That kitchen gag works so well because the animation is 2D and not 3D
What do you mean?
@@laurenludovico2301 the joke relies on neither Yzma or Kuzco knowing the other is on the other side of the door.
If the movie were animated in 3D, it wouldn’t work - they’d see each other.
Because it’s flat, your brain is more willing to go along with the idea that their world really does end as soon as anyone ventures toward the depths of the frame.
Similarly, if Pacha is 3-dimensional, it isn’t as funny that he hides by standing still - that works because he’s flat, and the wall is flat.
Both examples are visual gags that delight the mind - 3D isn’t as good at it.
I think because a 3D world has to have more rules than a 2D one. It’s not as given to absurdity.
@@UnleashthePhury I rewatched that scene with all of this insight and I understand! Thank you for explaining.
One of the reasons why I adore 2D animation
@@tototats16 sadly, they don't do movies like this anymore, and the new TV shows animation quality doesn't even reach the toes of this 2004 animation
Patrick Warburton and good writing are the keys to Kronk's success
Not bad, considering the movie didn't actually have a script until two weeks after its theatrical release.
@@thundercrash4775 What do you mean? I never heard of that story
@@marcusblackwell2372 It was an article I'd read a while back, had interviews with the production crew.
Basically, the production was a mess. It was originally going to be a Lion King style movie using Aztec mythology, but almost 2 years into production and it was nowhere, so a new director was brought it. The whole crew eventually decided on a different concept (what eventually be the movie), but they were told that the release date wasn't going to be changed. They literally had 6 months to scrape together a brand new movie from scratch.
End result: at the release, everything that was to be sent to the Disney Vault fit into two cardboard boxes. Two weeks later, an intern came to the director, saying that they couldn't find the script for the movie, and if he had it?
The director had to explain to him that there WAS no script, because the whole production was such a patchwork that scenes were animated and voiced almost as they were being storyboarded. So the director had to write up the script, slapped his name on it, and gave it to the intern, two weeks after the movie was released.
Basically, this movie REALLY shouldn't have been as good as it was.
