Then she says, "I used to design suits for gods," implying that she had been doing this for a while. Edna is immortal. She's lived for thousands of years helping superheroes hide their identity.
This is cool but there's a better theory with more support that says Edna's power is future vision. She never looks back because it distracts from the now, she knew Jack-Jack had powers but she didn't know what they were so she covered the basics. As someone who LOVES children, I loved Edna because while she CLEARLY doesn't want babies, she plays the cool auntie very well. There are so many people who don't want children, and don't even want to come near them, and I've seen portrayals about them. I've always been curious about the cool aunt who doesn't want kids of her own but would spoil others' and in Edna I saw that. She's a queen and I love it.
Some people are just meant to be cool aunties/uncles. Like my cousin. She's got no interest in having kids herself, but she loves her sister's kids with all her heart.
