You’re welcome thanks for coming along with me. Happy you enjoyed it.
Evening Tampa Jay from the UK you have done another great video Tampa Jay 👍 😊😅😂❤❤❤❤
I really miss the mall. I worked at one for 2 years and had a blast. Late 90’s they were hoppin! When mall would close Sbarro’s would give away their leftover pizzas for free!
Cool that you worked there too
Your welcome Tampa Jay 😊
Such great Florida memories, makes me miss when I used to go to the movies with my parents many years ago.
Now I just gotta go out and get me some McFries!
We had the same mall set up with Sears, you would drive up to top level to park. that is in Pompano Beach Florida back in the late 1970's.
He got started with the Red Sox
Sure did. Legend
Slither was James Gunn not Eli Roth (sorry for the correction)
Dang I totally meant James I get those two confused a ton
Thank you so much for saying those kind words at the end each time. I found you right after I got to fl to live with my brother last month and then he died and I was homeless with my cats. While in the hotel crying everyday you really gave me hope and a many smiles. ❤ I'll always be grateful. Still watching, still crying a little.,😢 still means alot!
I love McDonald's my self do you ever do anything in Charlotte
Remember when they had McDonald's ashtrays inside the restaurant?
I think they are going for $200 bucks on Ebay. Crazy.
Hi Tampa jay You tube channel Love my favorite one fan BIG 💖
Hello there thank you. Appreciate you.!!
Wait, Westshore’s about to be closed? I remember driving/riding by it whenever I’d go through Tampa to go to St. Petersburg (where I grew up.)
Oh my goodness, you just brought me down a memory lane! My parents and I moved from New Hampshire to Tampa in the summer of 1968. At first we lived with my step-sister and family on Paul Avenue, which is just off Gandy. I used to ride bikes with my niece and nephew to their school, Ballast Point Elementary. That summer I spent a lot of time at Ballast Point Park where they had a community center with summer kids activities. I started high school at King in the Temple Terrace area but we had not found a house yet in that area so we stayed with my sister for a while. I got to know the area around south Tampa well and the Britton Plaza sign became an iconic landmark that I was close to home. As for the WestShore Plaza Mall, it was THE place to shop. I got school clothes there every year. I think there was a Maas Brothers there then and maybe even Belk-Lindsey. My first cafeteria experience was there at a Picadilly. I can remember my mom telling me I had too much on my plate and my eyes were bigger than my stomach! Well, this New Hampshire girl had never seen anything like it! When I was a senior I got my prom dress at that mall at the 5-7-9 store (long gone!). I was a small and petite girl back then, am still small, but not petite! Thanks for sharing your memories and bringing back some of mine! Love ya!
I forgot to add that the area my sister lived on Paul Ave. Has changed dramatically. About 10 years ago I looked her address up and the house was really run down looking. Today I can see that it was torn down and completely rebuilt, as most of the house on that street have been, or are in the process of now. Wow!
Ballast Point is beautiful. Nice to see these local points of interest.
Loving all the historical references TJ. Im so glad i found you through ATW. ❤from UK
Westminster Colorado has a retro McDonald's on 104th Ave just off I 25.
Do you know that ex wife of Elvis Presley is coming to tampa bay comic convention in August
🍔🍟🥤🍦🤡
Tampa Jay I used to love going to malls. We had several in the metro Atlanta area all around Atlanta and I would go to most of them. I loved playing in the Gold Mine arcades. It's a shame at what technology is doing to stores and malls. I hate it! I said a long time ago that technology would be the ruin of this world. I see it happening everyday. Sad but true. Anyway bro I always enjoy watching you.
If it's getting knocked down I would ask for one of the Elvis Presley's I think it's a shame they are knocking it down .
Cool vlog Jay! Yes there are some interesting films out now. I hope you saw the Deadpool and Wolverine trailer.
Awesome video Jay. If you like action go see the new Godzilla movie. It was good.
Come to waffle stop inc in sarasota fl. I'll eat there with you. Elvis presley ate there. They have his booth marked off in the restaurant its really interesting
Mine says over 15 billion sold
You also forgot about graffiti nightclub it was a Cessna 125 also there was a place called soaps that was a bar and laundromat Kmart and Publix was called food world before it was Publix and in that plaza was food world also on gandy was food world that changed into Publix

Have you thought of getting rid of Bella?
Good afternoon Tampa Jay
Love me some Mickey Ds!

I started to aay flamingo before you said it and my wife started laughing when she heard you said it so thank you Tampa J for showing me around if we don't visit there but hope we do one day 🙏
I was stationed at MacDill AFB when "Cop and a Half" was filmed. The Warehouse was one of our hangouts. My wife was a Dental Assistant at and office just a couple blocks from "Dairy Joy". across from the German Delicatessen.
That’s so cool ! Small world
C'mon Jay, no mention of Wade Boggs playing for the Red Sox?
He played more years in Boston then the Yankees/Rays combined. And he was inducted into the Hall of Fame wearing a Red Sox hat.
Who? Lol haha
I honestly thought o did mention Red Sox whoops
TJ. Im sitting here watching your Vlog and listening to Roger and JP. Some pretty cool stuff around Tampa and history

Very good vid of my Tampa. thank you. I went to work for Standard Brands Inc. in 1964, it had been in the same bld'g since early 1950's. We moved out in late '60's and it became Warehouse Lounge. Onne of my distant ancestors sold Ballast Point for $50. Cheers, Jim
Mornin, afternoon Jay!!!
Awesome video thanks I enjoyed watching
Loved the devil horns photo. So late 90s lol great video.
Jannus landing was awesome, saw Ziggy Marley there in 89 and Hottie and the blowfish there in 94

a year or two ago they changed the old mcdonalds up in zephyrhills, same shape but different signs, glass and color
You forgot Moss Brothers used to have a restaurant on the 3rd floor the window is still there it overlooks 275. They also had a Walgreens and a Woolworths there the Woolworths had a kind of outdoor restaurant Old fashioned where you would sit inside the restaurant but it was open so you can watch people walk up and down the mall they had a Pharaoh's family restaurant which is amazing look it up they had Chick-fil-A next to Piccadilly cafeteria down the street from the Farrell's and Wonder bar German restaurant that was shaped like a big barrel to go on the entrance down from that was merry go round Dillard's the Pharaohs it was Barnes & Noble for a while don't know what it is now it was right next to Dillard's it was huge
Good Afternoon Tampa Jay..!!

11:45 What's with the cell towers dressed as trees about?? Is it functional? Visual regulations? Trendy practice? Birds demands?
Thanks, Jay for another great vid and info from your old stomping grounds. That was some cool info about McDonalds and the Elvis Lore :)
New subscriber and thumbs up for you! You're in my neighborhood today. Had no idea over JFK and South Dale Mabry McDonalds. I do remember what it looked like first build. I was a little thing and thought it fun to eat in our station wagon. I grew up in South Tampa and never left. Our home cost 64K in 1988. I thoroughly enjoyed this video of yours. Thank you TJ
4:50 damn that’s where the artist for Coppertail Brewing’s labels/art got sucker punched and got deleted, RIP.
Yes!! Let’s get Jay to 100K!! Keep sharing!!!
Great video, Jay. Had no idea about the J.F.K. visit. McDonald's has a fascinating history. For anyone who has not seen the 2016 film 'The Founder', it is the story of Ray Kroc played by Michael Keaton and how McDonald's came to be. Really good movie.
The 50th Anniversary Celebration at Florida's first McD's was a week-long celebration from March 8 through the 15th in 2008. So unhealthy but sooooo good. I try to avoid McDonalds as a result, but just this week, I had to try the new Chicken Mac. Basically they replace the mystery-meat patties with the McChicken patties. Since they have a bit of a spice to them, it wasn't too bad. Though I am a sucker for nuggets w/ hot mustard!!! Great video and dig the memories.
Casper does not own McDonal's anymore. They moved on to something else. I think it has been a year now. (South tampa born and raised here)
Thanks for the memories. Grew up in South Tampa on Davis Island. Growing up in the 60s my family and I spent a fair amount of time going to the McDonalds on Dale Mabry. We would eat our food on the cement benches and the cement/tile table. Britton Plaza was the place to be. Movies, JCPenney and of course Publix. When I was old enough the Tavern was a hang out. My sister used to live in a house across the street from Britton Plaza. Westshore Mall was also a hang out place. Maas Brothers and JCPenney was the anchor stores There was no food court but a Morrison's cafeteria. Also no movie theatre as there is today. I went to driving school on Kennedy. Across the street from the McDonalds (on Kennedy). Fun fact. The driving class got to watch Richard Nixon resign on TV. Keep up the good work. You are lucky there were no Rays or Lightning. The Bucs started playing my Senior year in High School (HP Plant). I can also assume since you were a musician that you spent money at Banks Music. I went to HS with Mitchell Banks and his father owned it. I still have my 1968 Ludwig set I purchased in 1971. Thanks again for memory road. I miss Tampa but most of my relatives still live on the Tampa area, so I go To Tampa when I can.
My Great Uncle was Fritz Casper. We moved to Fl in the late 80s and my Mom managed that store. I did not know this history. Thank you!
Ummm It is the time to get AMC Alist!!! That is our AMC as we live Westshore - Gandy by the bridge. We sit on our balcony and watch planes come in. Lol! My husband says it will take a long while to close all of those businesses. I hope so that's my theater and we are A List !!!! Civil War was awesome and that Nazi movie. Going to see Planet Of the Apes next.
Awesome video, thanks for showing us your neck of the woods.
Thank you for coming with me
Awesome video! My daughter goes to Radiant Church at that location. The church has 11 locations.
Yes Ballast Point park is the best! I used to take my lunch break there and sit on a bench swing. Now I can't go on my lunch break I work on Kennedy. No scenery😢
47:04 - I see a Macy*s. What was that anchor store built as, more than fifty years ago? In Tampa, I'm pretty sure it was not Burdine's.
the "BIG MAC" Is my go to...and their "COKE" is sooo sweet.
I remember when I was a kid McDonald’s put small pieces chopped onions on burgers , fries are best 🤗Again very informative video! Like seeing your town! Thank you 🦩
Have been to Westgate a few times in the 60’s, grew up in Dade City. Sorry to see it go😢
Have you been to sound exchange? There's 2, one in Tampa and the other in St Pete. A true hidden gem in the area
