After you went inside, right after the Legos that you remember, and I do too, those cars were called Stompers. They were popular during the late 70s and a little bit of the early 80s. The models that were bought in store were battery powered, had lights, and I think they may have had two speed gearboxes too. There were a couple other companies that made Stomper like trucks, but unless it said Schaper on the package, it wasn't a Stomper and it wasn't acceptable. They were straight line trucks, so no steering, and no radio control. My brother and I each had a few of them. Sold separately, you could also get some kind of off-road course with peaks, valleys, logs and other stuff to race them on, but a lot of us also used our school text books and other things when the actual Stompers courses got boring. I don't remember for sure, but I think each of them coming with two sets of tires. One set was hard rubber and the other set was a not too soft, but just the right density foam. I'd say they were roughly on the order of the foam block that you might find some new Casio watches wrapped around. The McD's Happy Meal toy Stompers that were on display where you were, those were kid powered, and the bodies and tires were removable so they could freely be interchanged back and forth with the AA battery powered versions.

From San Bernardino, live in Las Vegas now! Started to go down-hill rapidly in mid-1990's and has never recovered. The food establishment that now owns the museum is "Juan Pollo's" chicken restaurant (Better than "El Pollo Loco") A "diamond in the rough" for food in that city. Worth visiting and picking up 3 whole chickens for price of two if they still do that order; located on 5th street I believe. Another "diamond'' food establishment is ''Rosa Maria's" Mexican walk-up on Sierra Way. Probably top 25 burrito(Garbage) in the United States...yes, that good! Another real bright spot for San Bernardino is its location; Mountains (Lake Arrowhead, Big Bear) close by; LA and the best beaches within 60 miles; San Diego 100 miles and Palm springs and desert about 60 miles; Vegas 200 miles.
I grew up in Los Angeles, Union, Western, Normandy, Vermont area... My mother rarely took us out to eat. Being an immigrant and raised by a single mom, life was hard. We were very poor...I didn't visit. McDonald's till I was in my mid 20's. Thank you for sharing Lamont. I love their breakfast now, but their quality of coffee has significantly decreased. ❤
I remember those hamburger igloo tunnel things! I remember hiding in them, when I was playing in the play area at my childhood McDonald's. I even remember what they smelled like inside, lol. Because of all the sweaty kids that crawled through them, and of course being at McDonald's, they always smelled like fries and feet inside, LMAO! I remember the hamburger jail, too. The character's name was Officer Bigmac, IIRC. And that Hamburgler bust you passed just outside of the entrance would've been part of a swingset-his (missing) outstretched arms would have held the swings. I remember the Fry Kids rocker/bouncer ride-on thingie, too. Yes, I remember the styrofoam. I remember having a birthday party at McDonald's once, as a little kid, and one of the games was to see who could stack the most styrofoam burger boxes. (It's harder than it sounds, especially considering styrofoam holds a static charge, lol.) I remember when smoking was allowed in places like McDonald's. And yes, I would DEFINTELY agree that McDonald's toys have gone down in quality. WAY down. Like everything else, to be as cheap as possible, so the bigwigs squeeze out every penny of profit they can. Gotta buy that third yacht, you know. 🙄 Anyway, thanks for the trip down memory lane, Lamont. AWESOME video! PS-I want that Mystery Machine, lol!!
That whole area is bad. But it’s getting better because all the other counties got too expensive and if you have to live in California and you can’t afford it, you go there. Ask me how I know. I left 20 years ago. Western San Bernardino county is as good as it gets and it’s not bad. It’s actually pretty nice.
Grew up in Berdoo in the 60's and 70's. Mom would take us to McDonalds right there on E st. across from San Bernardino High. Mom would buy a bag full of those hambugers and some fries. The toys didn't come along till like the 80's. In high school I would eat lunch at the Mcdonalds on 40th st, the E st shop was too far to drive.
I was born in California and lived at one time in North Hollywood and my grandparents lived in Panorama City…they bought their home brand new there….now that was YEARS ago I’m 63 lol and moved to Hollywood FL when I was 10…..would never live in LA area again 😂
I helped looking for a missing child and we Found her Safe and Sound i feel sad for the single moms for there family situation i hope to be a Dad some day
Wow, you have guts. I live in the L.A. area and the only time I "experience" San Bernardino is when I drive through it (very quickly) to go to the mountains. I didn't even know until a few years ago that San Bernardino has an international airport. That area is such a mess. I'm sure back when the McDonald brothers opened their restaurant it was a bit nicer, but time has really taken a toll on the SB area.
This is what tolerance and diversity does wherever it is. There is no other outcome possible. Words will never defeat evil. Cowardice is not the answer.
I remember working my first job at McDonalds as a teenager in Covina. Late 1970’s 😳 Pick up the outside trash, pick up the trash on the asphalt. Later I got to take orders but it was on paper & you had to do your own “math”. No real calculators. It was then the happy meals came out in little pre-formed boxes we had to assemble in advance. Glad I learned I didn’t want to make it a career 🤣
The Looney Tunes characters were used by Albert Okura who was the founder of the local restaurant chain Juan Pollo and the owner of the museum. He passed away a couple years ago. They were placed atop of the Juan Pollo vehicles in parades and driven in the city.

Some of you are too young to remember what the old style McDonalds fries used to taste like before they went to a “more healthy” oil
I do and don't tell me I don't
@@ChristinaBonvillian-ni2ji well, then, I’m not speaking to you. What is wrong with some of you?
KFC changed their recipe too awhile ago. I highly recommend Cane's, their chicken is surprisingly very good.
@@Galidorquest I tried Raising Canes in Vegas last year. It is really good for sure
Or the pies Apple and cherry deep fried 🤤😋
I grew up in Los Angeles, Union, Western, Normandy, Vermont area... My mother rarely took us out to eat. Being an immigrant and raised by a single mom, life was hard. We were very poor...I didn't visit. McDonald's till I was in my mid 20's. Thank you for sharing Lamont. I love their breakfast now, but their quality of coffee has significantly decreased. ❤
Once a nice working class area
You need that VAN!!!!!!!!!!!
I miss the Hamburger jail haha. But even cooler if you drove around telling your stories in the Scooby Doo Van :P
That whole area is bad. But it’s getting better because all the other counties got too expensive and if you have to live in California and you can’t afford it, you go there. Ask me how I know. I left 20 years ago. Western San Bernardino county is as good as it gets and it’s not bad. It’s actually pretty nice.
@ Lamont the Styrofoam boxes, kept the food a lot warmer than what they have it in now
Our country has turned into a 3d world country
Exactly what the elite wants
Grew up in Berdoo in the 60's and 70's. Mom would take us to McDonalds right there on E st. across from San Bernardino High. Mom would buy a bag full of those hambugers and some fries. The toys didn't come along till like the 80's. In high school I would eat lunch at the Mcdonalds on 40th st, the E st shop was too far to drive.
The boxes were from the 70's Lamont
Thank you for sharing your video Becareful young man I use to love me some Mic Ds back in the day Have a Fantastic day 👍🙏🙏

I was born in California and lived at one time in North Hollywood and my grandparents lived in Panorama City…they bought their home brand new there….now that was YEARS ago I’m 63 lol and moved to Hollywood FL when I was 10…..would never live in LA area again 😂
Awesome job Lamont " I enjoyed this legend. Nice memories.😊
I helped looking for a missing child and we Found her Safe and Sound i feel sad for the single moms for there family situation i hope to be a Dad some day
Would've been a nice neighborhood before affirmative action.
Yea, used to be Norton Air Force Base.
This is what tolerance and diversity does wherever it is. There is no other outcome possible. Words will never defeat evil. Cowardice is not the answer.
Awesome job brother love all your videos. Are you gonna stay at another motel 6 loll 😂
That's only the museum the original was around the corner and the only thing left is a piece of concrete that i think is there.
I still live down the street from the original and don't believe that guy who is narrating this ok he's full of shit ok check it out for yourself.
Museum with McDonald's relics in it The address is 1398 North E Street at West 14th Street in San Bernardino.
My fav McDonald's Happy Meal toy is the burgers and fries that converted to robots! Was just thinking of them the other day and telling the kids about them . Those were the days.
San Bernardino was nice back in the day, until all the Jose's & Tyrone's were allowed to live there...THEY ruin everything, wherever they go.
that's a bummer man..I live in San Bernardino and I missed the opportunity to meet you. but welcome !
