    Thank you, I saw a video recently of a bunch of couples talking about their truck campers and how much they love them. It was at some truck camper jamboree or something. I recognized you immediately and your rig since I've watched so many of your videos. The exchange between you and your wife about your driving was priceless. You're a very generous person to share all these ideas and knowledge. Thank you

      We had an 28' travel trailer and then a 37' 5er and they both were limiting on access to campsites, gas stations and National Parks. We then right-sized to a truck camper and it was the best decision! Easy to maneuver, no extra tolls, no extra insurance, no inspections, no registration!!

    This is absolutely a great tool for anyone needing a perfect alignment of their camper. In some cases you do not need such precision, but in my case I do. I own an arctic fox 1140 and it needs to be perfect because there are two propane lines that run down the side of the camper, one on each side. When the camper is set it on the bed I can barely stick my finger between the propane line & bed. Needless to say not a whole lot of room for error which is why something like this is key for me!

    Love your channel and your creativity on making a better loading environment for these tight fit campers. I know you've got ideas in your mind and probably have already fixed it but have you ever thought of how a person could raise and lower these truck bed campers easier keeping them as level as possible throughout the entire movement up and down other than walking around it constantly while moving each leg little by little? My Lance 1172 seems to want to tear itself apart literally when one of the legs gets a little bit out of level with the rest.

  • @texdirtsurfer123
    @texdirtsurfer123 Год назад +2

    I bolted a Big Foot camper to the bottom of my truck bed. Lack of movement destroyed the camper. I think a camper should be allowed to move some, or not

    • @steevehudon8941
      @steevehudon8941 Год назад

      I agree with you, I am pretty sure the manufacturer would void the warranty if you put something like that. There no need for this the camper has no where to go. That will put some stress on the camper.

    Wonderful! Too bad you don't sell them all made. Silly question: why need the Rollers? It'd seem you could use the UHMW exclusively (just a bit longer/higher) and it'd slide in the same? Also, did you add a border of UHMW to the camper's bottom edge (so slides on slide and doesn't bang up the camper corner)? I'd love to see a similar device for bolt-on Flatbed campers (ie, similar UHMW gizmos that'd (temporarily) screw into the outside rails of the flatbed)... Whaddayathink? thanks!

    Charlie, How does this compare to the rail rollers you made several years ago. I made blocks similar to yours and noticed they really did a number on the bottom edge of the camper. We go off-road a lot and the camper is really moving around. Do you still use your backup camera system?

  • @Jackman8594

    Great build and design! I was going to make some but it seems that this system would be putting side stress on the jacks which could cause weakness where they are attached to the camper. Any thoughts on this?

    • @charlescoushaine
      @charlescoushaine  3 года назад +4

      If you watch the video closely, I state clearly that these rollers are only to center the last 1 to 1-1/2" so that small distance compared to the leg length is no problem at all.

    Nice job Charles, and an envy-inducing workshop! Is it necessary to cut the bed mat or could you just place the entire assembly on top of the bed mat?

    • @charlescoushaine
      @charlescoushaine  4 года назад

      You don't absolutely need to cut the bed mat however I thought that keeping the roller wood parts firmly planted on the sheet metal of the bed was the best secure location without any flexing that might take place if on the rubber mat.

    I am planning to get truck camper and I thought of some problems before I buy it.
    To centre it is one of the problem.
    No offence, but this thing is useless. The problem is:
    When you lower the camper when it's not aligned, it will landed onto the truck not aligned anyway.
    Once you installed this device, the camper will landed onto the truck ""CENTERED"" by TWISTING/BENDING the JACK.
    Although it's very limited length in the jack, still it will damage the jack since it needs very precise straightness.
    If you have installed a wheel for the jack, then it is fine, but after you installed the wheel, why you need this device?
    Good way of thinking anyway, but sorry, it will not work.

  • @skoffco
    @skoffco Год назад

    I think it’s easier to struggle putting the camper on your truck than it is building that centering device. At least for me lol.

    • @ata1421
