I am sorry, and sad they did not KEEP Reign on. I HOPE Netflixs brings season 4 on, and I am dreaming about a season 5, maybe it was just my imagination that they left out so much of Mary's story, and she really didn't die. Ya think?
The reason they left so much out was because the producers and everyone else didn't know the show was being cancelled, so they had to put everything together in a short period of time.
Such an incredible show with such immensely talented actors and well written characters... shame the finale was a trashy, incoherent, rushed pile of shite. They paid NO respects to any of the other characters other than Mary.. appalling. I'm both suffering from Reign withdrawals and fuming at another poor ending to another amazing show.
Yeah, at times season 4 was frustrating, but I think with the short amount of time they had, they did well writing it and making it flow. The cancellation was such short notice. The show is one of the best, for sure, but Elizabeth fucked everything up as soon as she came on screen. I would've paid to see her fall in the end, too. You have to realize that this is always will be Mary's story, so of course the show was more fixated on her in the end, and for the most part, she was alone, so who else *was* there to focus on?

She had to return to Scotland because the moment Francis died, she was no longer the Queen of France. She would've been targeted and even assassinated had she remained in French Court. Besides, her people in Scotland needed her as unstable as it was, or they too would've turned against her and her entire country would be her enemy.
You know it’s based on history? Maybe they don’t always keep to it but they kinda have to keep true to SOME facts. And Scotland is the best country on earth honey

Mary did die. The show was based on Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots. She was beheaded around the age of 40.
Mary died so Mary and Francis could be together in the end like always
