In a world where most of the time pc builders are just building gaming pc, Building a productivity pc is really helpful to figure out how much power we actually need for productivity tasks. It is much different from gaming requirements and thus creates these confusions around picking up the parts. Really helpful Build. ✨

Absolutely, more Productivity + Gaming PC build videos like this would be amazing! As a fellow architecture designer, 3D modeler, and gamer, I've been researching parts to build my first custom PC. But most build guides out there are focused solely on gaming performance, so it's hard to know if those same specs would be ideal for my mixed-use case.
This video was super helpful and informative. I'm seriously considering following this exact parts list for my build! The only changes I might make are going with a different case that fits my personal style a bit more, and possibly swapping the RTX 4090 for a 4080 Super instead, just to bring the total cost down a little. Do you think all the other components you chose would still be compatible with a 4080 Super GPU?
Seriously, thanks so much for putting this guide together with us productivity power users in mind. More content like this would be incredibly valuable and much appreciated! You've got at least one new subscriber here. Keep up the awesome work!

If it's Hynix A die it's capable of more then just 7200mts depending on IMC and motherboard. You just need to know how to tweak voltages, timings, secondaries and tertiaries as well as know what you're doing when you stress test the memory. XMP and EXPO profiles are typically quite loose to ensure stability for the user. Leaves alot of performance on the table. That being said, I wouldn't run 7200mts sticks on a Ryzen platform. You need to ensure it runs in a 1:1 ratio and the fabric bottlenecks your bandwith anyways unless you overclock it. So there's really no point in going over 6000-6400. Raptor Lake and Refresh co. on the other hand will give you massive gains with faster memory. That's why the only boards I use with my 13900KS are the Apex and Tachyon because they are 2 dimm. With my 7800x3d the cheap b650 I have suffices. Running a kit of Lexar Ares a die @ 6000 c28 36 36 28 tREFI at 65535 and all other timings as low as possible. Fabric at 2133. -20 PBO undervolt. 1.20v SOC and 1.35 for the dimms. No matter how much you optimize the memory it caps at 64,000 mbps in Aida unless you increase the fabric. Getting 70,000mbps and 61.0ns on latency. No matter what I do I can't get it lower on that chip. With my Apex running at 7800mts cl34 @1.45v I get 49.9ns

My case of choice would be the Jonsbo V10. You can fit ATX power supplies up to 140mm long and graphics cards up to 330mm long, since the graphics card is installed behind the motherboard. You can also put a 240mm radiator on the top.

Intel uses less poer when idling and doing general tasks. That will save you more money in the long run, not using less wattage during heavy tasks.

Just one thing I would change, if this is for productivity, I would definitely go with the Ryzen 9 7950X, not the 3D.
The 3D V-cache won't help nothing on productivity or multitasking; on the contrary, 3D V-cache modules are very sensitive to temperature, so they run at a lower clock speeds by default and are much more susceptible to suffer thermal throttling, which does not easily happen in X versions, because of that the 7950X are faster on productivity tasks. Another thing is how the CPU allocates tasks to use the 3D V-cache; in a game, this is well optimized, and the game can make good use of it. However, in normal tasks or multitasking in Windows, it simply bugs out and doesn't know how to allocate tasks correctly on the memory to work properly and it is also very unstable with RAM profiles, if your DRAM isn't AMD EXPO profile, it'll definitely cause some stability issues, even worse that you are using it at 7200MHz probably with an Intel XMP profile.
I can't explain it exactly in a comment, but this video explains it better: ruclips.net/video/JZGiBOZkI5w/видео.html

Great video, I really appreciate your approach to videos and the PC construction hobby. My only complaint with the pc build hobby is the lack of 3.5 or 2.5 inch bays. With the massive size of game I've come to love hot swap bays. I'm getting to the point of treating ssd as game cartridges.
I even have one machine that has a hot swap m.2 on the back of the pc.

the panel issue with the meshrooms can be "solved" when using a plastic pry tool for removing the panels, near the pins. iFixIt sets have one f.e.

With the 7950X3D you have to disable half the cores in order to get max game performance. Then turn then back on when doing productivity workl.

I run the meshlicious with custom water, High recommend to do so in the meshroom, since it has a touch more room and you can run a dual rad set up with the 4090....

You said its for productivity purpose but the only thing that you test is gaming...
Maybe we can see other benchmark result for productivity workload like render, compiling, transfering files, ai inferencing etc
    Cool build tho

Why you need to benchmark productivity even? Idk since when productivity becomes a competition to even have a benchmark? His productivity and other people will be different.

@@jeremyg2236 i mean its kinda an estimated approach, its ok to benchmark with his workload, atleast it will give info to the viewer aboaut how this pc will perform, because of that you need to test the pc imo

Am I the only one that finds I weird, that the monitor cables need to be plugged in from the bottom of the case ? I know he’s probably using some sort of modification to make it easier but still weird ?
Still love the build. Insane content und nice ITX build, very inspiring.

Beautiful build, lots of stuff crammed in there tho. I personally would have gone with a MB that has rear connections so you could cable manage all the cables within the case.

@@devyn.johnston that's great, but have you actually tested it? what are the diffs in performance and temps? I'm assuming a system this powerful gets easily chocked in a glass panel itx case, even tho it looks like it has plenty of airflow

Not sure that AIO is going to last long in that config. Looks like the pump is the high spot in the loop. It might work now, but as liquid slowly evaporates from the loop, it's going to fail.

    • @kjungst
      @kjungst 3 месяца назад

As I remember, the movment of fluid catches some air bubles which will be collected in the highest point... Which is an AIO in this case. AiO should be reversed in vertical way.

Also, the 7800x3d generally out performs the 7900x3d for gaming specifically. For productivity I believe the 7900x3d is better for the most part but only marginally.
