Thanks for this respectful push back - I think it’s very important. I feel strongly that a small vocal minority of the trans movement are over stepping boundaries in a sort of cultural coup and I can only see it going badly. Men should NOT be allowed to invade women’s spaces simply by dressing like them and using the correct words. Nor should they be allowed to compete alongside biological women in sports.

Can someone pls define "woman" for me? Ppl say a woman is "anyone who identifies as a woman" but nobody actually explains what if means to identify as a woman. I am a woman because of my female biology, I don't have any internal sense of gender identity. I don't understand how a definition of "woman" can exist outside of biology?
And this is the crux of the matter. It's an incoherent ideology. Under trans ideology, basically anyone can just decide they're a woman, or not. There is no single unifying factor between all women. A feminine, makeup-loving, submissive man can be a woman, as can the most masculine, butch lesbian. One identifies as a woman because he likes things society has associated with women, and the role society has pinned onto us, and/or would prefer to have a female body, whereas the other is a woman by virtue of her biology. Our female biology and age is what unites all of us women (I mention age just because if we're younger, we're girls, not women yet). It doesn't matter whether we conform to gender roles or not, how feminine or masculine we are, we are women regardless, and in a patriarchal world that punishes us and exploits us for being female, it's no laughing matter when people start screwing around with the definitions of words, and obliterating rights we've fought hard for.

I have no problem with people undergoing surgery/hormone treatment and I will gladly use someone's preferred name and pronouns. I support trans rights 100% but not if they come at the expense of women's rights (as evidenced by lily madigan!)
I think a lot of people feel as you do. I used to feel more that way myself, but more recently have come to think it's harmful to use preferred pronouns, to refer to trans males as women, etc. I used to believe they were just another kind of woman, but that relegates the term woman to being a social role, and I think that in order to achieve women's liberation, we need to get rid of any concept of "woman as a social role", "man as a social role". The real progressive view is to let all men and women be themselves, to not expect men to be masculine or women to be feminine. I think in that kind of world, people would find their dysphoria easier to deal with, and those who felt they still needed surgery or hormones would still be free to do that.
Man = started out with a willy, Woman = started out with a fanny. Anything else is down to surgery, & if I lose my limbs in an explosion I don't become a snake.
The whole idea of "gender" as something distinct from biological sex is just bogus. The word shouldn't even be applied to human beings. It is a word which really only has meaning in the context of language. It always used to be used just as a grammatical term until quite recently, but it has been appropriated and redefined so that it can be used as the pretext for building a whole pseudo-science and bogus academic discipline.

Can someone pls define "woman" for me? Ppl say a woman is "anyone who identifies as a woman" but nobody actually explains what if means to identify as a woman. I am a woman because of my female biology, I don't have any internal sense of gender identity. I don't understand how a definition of "woman" can exist outside of biology?
And this is the crux of the matter. It's an incoherent ideology. Under trans ideology, basically anyone can just decide they're a woman, or not. There is no single unifying factor between all women. A feminine, makeup-loving, submissive man can be a woman, as can the most masculine, butch lesbian. One identifies as a woman because he likes things society has associated with women, and the role society has pinned onto us, and/or would prefer to have a female body, whereas the other is a woman by virtue of her biology.
Our female biology and age is what unites all of us women (I mention age just because if we're younger, we're girls, not women yet). It doesn't matter whether we conform to gender roles or not, how feminine or masculine we are, we are women regardless, and in a patriarchal world that punishes us and exploits us for being female, it's no laughing matter when people start screwing around with the definitions of words, and obliterating rights we've fought hard for.
Back Space thank you for your reply. I want to support trans people because I can't begin to imagine how horrible it must feel to suffer from sex dysphoria. I have no problem with people undergoing surgery/hormone treatment and I will gladly use someone's preferred name and pronouns. I support trans rights 100% but not if they come at the expense of women's rights (as evidenced by lily madigan!)
I think a lot of people feel as you do. I used to feel more that way myself, but more recently have come to think it's harmful to use preferred pronouns, to refer to trans males as women, etc. I used to believe they were just another kind of woman, but that relegates the term woman to being a social role, and I think that in order to achieve women's liberation, we need to get rid of any concept of "woman as a social role", "man as a social role". The real progressive view is to let all men and women be themselves, to not expect men to be masculine or women to be feminine. I think in that kind of world, people would find their dysphoria easier to deal with, and those who felt they still needed surgery or hormones would still be free to do that.
Man = started out with a willy, Woman = started out with a fanny. Anything else is down to surgery, & if I lose my limbs in an explosion I don't become a snake.
The whole idea of "gender" as something distinct from biological sex is just bogus. The word shouldn't even be applied to human beings. It is a word which really only has meaning in the context of language. It always used to be used just as a grammatical term until quite recently, but it has been appropriated and redefined so that it can be used as the pretext for building a whole pseudo-science and bogus academic discipline.

You wouldnt go outside saying to people youre a black man when youre a white woman especially in a normal conversation- how would it be brought about? Black people are not a gender. What is advocated is that people use pronouns direct in the way how people appear use they/them or just use some basic courtesy and ask. In any conversation there is a point when you will have to use pronouns. People sometimes are born with different brain structure or hormonal imbalance etc. The only difference when youre black is the amount of melanin in your skin and also the culture but its unrelated to yr example
