The answer to this is to enforce the law : -
1. The Offences Against the Person Act 1861 Sect 20 defines "wounding" as "causing a breach in the continuity of the surface of the skin". 2. We should enforce our animal welfare legislation. This requires that farmed animals must be kept to certain minimum standards (not high enough in my opinion) and that all animals to be slaughtered must be stunned first or rendered unconscious by gassing. If the legislation was enforced, and now that we are out of the EU we can control what comes into this Country OF OURS, we can ensure that the products of kosher and halal slaughter are not available in this Country. Norway (1929), Sweden (1937), Germany (1933), all Nazi occupied territories (1939), Slovenija (2012), Denmark (2014), 2 of the 3 regions of Belgium (2018/2019) HAVE BANNED RELIGIOUS SLAUGHTER but are unable to stop imports because they are still trapped in the E.U. or, in the case of Norway, because of the thing known as "The Single Market".Two cantons of Switzerland banned religious slaughter in 1867 and it has been illegal in the whole of Switzerland since 1st January 1894. In 2018, Switzerland banned the import of any animal product where the animal had not been kept or slaughtered in accordance with Swiss law but it does not appear to be enforced properly. Poland banned it in 2013 but the law was overturned a year later in the courts (a disgrace). What is also a disgrace is that following the Second World War, certain forces in New York forced the American Government to force the German provisional government to reverse the law in Germany. Above all, we are talking about ANIMAL WELFARE here.

I emigrated to Canada in 1993 and I had to satisfy the Canadian government's full list of requirements. I had to complete a full criminal background check, a full medical examination and above all, I had to prove that I could support myself for the first five years if I was unemployed. The whole process took almost two years and it was expensive. If I had been denied entry into Canada, I would not have then just rocked up at Toronto Airport. The people who are entering the UK illegally are queue jumpers who simply would never be allowed in under any circumstances if they applied through the proper process. These people are not desperate refugees, they are people who care nothing about laws and decency.
Same thing - landed christmas eve '96 at Pearson, Toronto Intl. I cashed in my South African Provident fund, sold the house and all those 3rd world rands amounted to sweet fhk all in Canadian dollars -- 6 months health Ontario insurance, insane car insurance for newly arrived immigrants, etc etc. Refused a credit card for a year because I had no North American credit history, -- I could go on and on. But I worked so bloody hard to get ahead. This skipping the queue is totally unacceptable.

(As they presented themselves.) It was informative to learn that they DO grade migrants by all the usual metrics of age, health, education, profession, language, ease of integration etc. The highly sought after A-Grade migrants - like yourself - arrive in their host country with thirty odd years of working life, and tax payments, still to come.

If it is legal to enter the UK by any means and then claim asylum, then the "smugglers" are doing nothing wrong. They should be applauded.
If it is illegal to enter the UK without proper documentation, then they are all breaking the law, smugglers included, so deport them all.

I get so tired of these people who seem to think the UK should have open borders! Yet those same people are the main ones complaining about broken Britain.
