  • Marloe Watch Company have been around since 2015 and have a reputation for excellence and attention to detail. They are a small British Microbrand.
    Thus far I had thought their watches might be too large as their catalogue is full of watches above the 40mm mark.
    In the Spring I did notice that they had brought out a new range and upon investigating, found that the size on the Marloe Tay was somewhat smaller than their other watches.
    I contacted Marloe, based in Scotland at the beginning of June 2023 for a review piece which was duly sent... It was so good I bought my own Marloe Tay Sail.
    This then is a review and a look into by buying decision!
    I am not affiliated to Marloe Watch Company in any way and the watch shown was bought at full retail. Though I do thank Marloe for sending out a review piece initially...Thanks Oliver :)

    Lovely review John, nice little watch with some big presence. I have a hand wind Marloe Coniston, and a Myota 9015 powered Marloe Morar dive watch, both lovely quality. Believe Gordon from Marloe is working on the second version of the.Morar, which should be very interesting. Keep up the excellent reviews, always with a personal touch, and the legendary “cupboard of doom” 😀

    A tad small for me, but looking at the generally large watches on sale today, this is a great size for the guys with smaller wrist. I prefer the dive style watch, but having said that, this a little beauty. Well done Marloe.

    Definitely a classy wee number ,not sure if they made it bigger whether it'd loose some of its charm but at 37-38 would be interesting plus I think they've priced it about right for what you get ... Looks pimp on the chosen leather as well Sir.

      Hi buddy. Have never had that watch but probably standard. Always handy to have these small watch kits handy. It would probably be a 1mm which I believe has a red ring around the top of it or a 1.3mm which has a grey ring around the top of it.
      Best to get a wee kit for future use. Hope this helps :)

    I saw a deal on their Haskell Global when they were close to selling out so I decided to give Marloe a go. Very pleased overall but I found the lume a let down on a GADA, which with its sandblasted case and 100m WR this watch is. Mine is Swiss Made with a hand wind Sellita which is keeping excellent time. I don't know if Marloe go the extra mile with regulation or if I got a good one. I'd recommend the brand but if you like Seiko diver strength lume you may be disappointed. They do offer 30 day as new returns though which is good.

    • @johnswatchjoint
      @johnswatchjoint  Год назад +1

      Thanks for sharing. They may have improved the Lume as this one as you can see is a torch and keeps up with my Seestern S430 which is my current Lume champ! Like what they are doing and this piece is also very well regulated but I usually wear them for extended periods to get a real read on accuracy.

    That really is a gorgeous watch, I absolutely love it. But it is only 35mm dia. and that's smaller than any watch I've ever owned except my Tissot from 1970! I'd hate to have to send it back because it looks too small - if that's even an option from here in Germany. My 39mm Addiedive is the smallest I own and it looks small on my 7" wrist. I'm really agonising - buy it or sadly just decide to pass. Decisions, decisions! ............. Sod it! I've just gone and ordered one!!!

    • @johnswatchjoint
      @johnswatchjoint  3 месяца назад

      You will love it. Honestly...it's also my smallest watch and it took getting used to but I wear it whenever I can. A gorgeous watch with a clean look that will also take a beating. They call it the Little Tank. ...and it's from Scotland!

    • @rogerfairhurst8705

      @@johnswatchjoint My 'Tay' arrived this afternoon and I really love it - but: it IS small, smaller than any watch I've bought over the last 40 years, and that's quite a few. The second problem is the leather strap. It looks very classy but it is very stiff, to such an extent that the watch rides up in the air under the crown, the far side remaining firmly in contact with the wrist. I also bought a Berny Milanese strap which allows the watch to sit flat on the wrist perfectly so the leather strap probably needs wearing-in. As you will gather, I've started wearing the watch so a return is no longer possible but I'm hopeful that the size will prove less of an issue as I get used to it's size on the wrist. On balance, I do not regret my purchase one iota, and it really is a beautiful watch. Just the size and leather strap weigh on the negative side though I expect the strap will improve quite substantially with wear. Your video made me aware of Marloe watches and the Tay, so i have you to thank for relieving my wallet of €370 and replacing it with a watch I'm going to love wearing.

    • @johnswatchjoint
      @johnswatchjoint  3 месяца назад

      The leather strap will take a few days. Use your fingers to manipulate it. Once it fits that's it. It will be very comfortable. ...and once you wear 35mm for a while you won't want to go back to dinner plates in the wrist ;)

    Great Watch and not a bad bracelet but most of the steel straps are poor in my opinion, if they can up the quality in that area then they simply will not go wrong.

    Mate what happened to you? I completely missed that...🤔 Man it's a beautiful corner of the world you live in. As for the watch, it's beautiful. I think it has the perfect size, albeit a bit overpowered by the bund strap. But it's exactly the kind of watch I would like to see with a brushed case rather than with a polished one.

    • @johnswatchjoint
      @johnswatchjoint  Год назад +1

      Hi Alex. The bund is a cheap 70's throwback but I will get a bespoke one made for it. I do like to wear certain watches on a bund occasionally but not all the time. Just reminds me of the old Timex I used to wear...nostalgia is a powerful thing!
