Check meter valve in bottom of carb. It is the screw that holds the carb bowl on, and sometimes the tiny holes in the bolt get clogged up. Clean out all holes on the meter valve screw, holes on left to right side, and hole down the middle, and reinstall. Can clean out with paper clip and carb cleaner. Also check air filter, if dirty just replace it. Old gas can cause problems too.
Clean carb just for general purposes, and check the coil. It's my understanding that when some coils start to fail, they'll work fine until they get hot, then not start until they cool off some. And be fine until it gets hot again.
Check everything, tighten the head bolts.. check the flywheel key! Including the gap in the magneto Could be a bad magneto or rusty flywheel or rusty magneto. Fuel lines … gas tank. Usually never fails on a 190cc B&S
I have a retiree that needs the extra income to survive and he drives an older pickup so it makes me feel good to help a guy out thats on a fixed income and he does a good job with my mowers and doesn’t charge me to pick it up ( try that with Lowes )… he gets a nice tip and is dependable….thats what makes America great!
Spray some carb cleaner in the carburetor too see if she fires back up, if she does you need too check the fuel system. My guess is a collapsed fuel line! It's hard too kill a Quantum engine.
Check for spark when it dies . If that's good and still not running spray carb cleaner in carb and try if that makes it run remove carb and clean remove gas tank and clean and replace fuel line
My opinion is the coil...I have worked on many of the 2005 to 2008 Briggs...seems I been having a run on coils...check the ohms if its over 5500 ohms just replace it...
That engine should only hold 20 oz. of oil .You have it way overfull with the whole qt.in there its gonna smoke like a chimeny I think it is a fuel issue maybe a blockage not letting the fuel run fast enough
I did only put about 20oz of oil, it wasn’t a full bottle I used it for another mower as well. I am possibly gonna get back on it this week and checking the fuel system and ignition system. Thank you for your input
The fact that it is sputtering to a stall makes me suspect the carburetor. You can drop the bowl on that engine. The bowl nut is your main jet. Clean that and see if there is any debris in the bowl that might be getting sucked up as you run it.
I would start with the easy items/basics. Fuel - Is the white/clear gasket still on the inside of the gas cap? If not, it will vac lock the tank. it's extremely rare to happen if that gasket is there and the cap isn't caked with dirt/grime. Is fuel flowing through the fuel line properly? Is fuel flowing through the needle/seat on the carburetor as expected? These are quick, simple tests that won't cost anything. Air/Fuel Mixture - Are there any cracks in the air intake pipe? You will want to remove it and clean it to be sure. Is the air intake pipe still secured to the block properly? The screws are known to back out. Are the bolts on the cylinder head all secure? They can loosen also. Auto-Choke - Since this engine doesn't have a primer, but an auto-choke, is it opening all the way? Again, easy and free test - they open fairly quickly on these engines. Ignition/Spark - With a new plug, it would seem this has been ruled out. New doesn't always mean good, but the symptom persisted the same so odds are against it. Puts it at the coil or the kill wire. I would start with the wire, bc it's quick and simple. Disconnect it from the coil and see if the same thing happens again. They can self-ground in a few ways (worn insulation, grease, etc). When I get a tricky one like this, I start simple, easy, and free/cheap. Curious to see how it shakes out!
I really appreciate the very detailed comment/help. I will definitely be looking into these possibilities in the coming days when I get back on the mower. I have some other videos in the works right now so I will be sure to record what comes next with this problem mower. I appreciate you watching and giving some feedback to help me out and hopefully someone else that may be in the same position
@@BKsgarage95 No problem! One step I didn't mention specifically, but you likely would check along the way....if the fuel flow is slow out of the fuel line, disconnect from the tank and see if it changes. That'll help narrow down fuel line or tank. There is a small filter inside the tank that you can't see. I spent almost an hour one time, bc I had a fuel line that collapsed. Gave similar symptoms, as it let fuel through really slowly.
I think you got a gas problem I would rebuild the carburetor or at least clean it out and are you cutting wet grass you do know that dolls the blade and plugs up the mower right
Thank you for your input, I will be getting back on this mower tonight and recording an update video, stay tuned. And yes I am aware of cutting wet grass it dulls the blade quicker as well as plugging up the deck

Is the gas cap vented? when you opened the gas cap it ran. Might be valves adjustment?
Gas cap was an after thought for me, go check out the latest video of the update on this mower if you haven’t seen it yet. Wasn’t a fuel issue
Coil could be bad. Valves may be coming out of adjustment, as the engine heats up.
Thank you, two things I was thinking of as well. I’m gonna try to get back on it shortly and hopefully get an update video on it

Thank you for your input, I’m getting back on this mower tonight to figure out what is wrong with it.

Clean the carb really well. If it doesn’t work, get a new carb.
@@noonereally5926 thank you for the recommendation, stay tuned for this weeks video on Wednesday for an update on the mower

Thank you, I will checks the ohms on the coil before I just buy a new one for it

It sounded like it was getting a spark.
🤔fuel issue maybe.
You'll have to go into the carburetor and clean out all the gunk, I think.
If you had a little table to set it on then working on it would be a lot less of a chore☝️
Uh-oh... I was only listening to the video, but now I see that there's something else going on after she warms up
After a couple stripes how's the oil level??? Maybe compression check? See about that magneto; I think you can get one for about 12 dollars

Please don't give up, I really wanna know why🙏
thanks for a good video
Thank you, I appreciate the support
Check the gas cap open and listen for a hissing sound if it does its a bad cap

clean the carb main jet is most likely clogged up
I will check into that, probably gonna get back on it this week if I have the time. Thank you
If the gas cap doesn't vent properly it will act this way. You could unthread the gas cap a couple of turns and see if that helps.
Thank you for the input, I will give that a try and see what happens
The coil is bad and cuts off when it gets hot
Thank you, I have considered that and will be looking into it
I seen vapor lock to when gets hot
Thank you, not something I thought of. Be sure to tune in on Wednesday for the update video

Sounds like a valve sticking after it heats up do a compression check on it.
Check the coil
That was the first thing I looked into, be sure to tune in for the next video on Wednesday for the update to the mower
Ignition coil
Thank you, I am going to look into that
Take ur head of the more an check the valves the four bolts in the front that's what u hearing when u crank it up
Air gap in coil.
Choke problem .....
Update video will be posted at 5pm est tonight, tune back in for what fixed it
Possible bad coil
