Hey Jerry, same here. Hurt mine at 18 years old (54) now. Had fusions and a cage around the spine. Had a spinal cord stimulation implant and live on opioid painkillers and stay in bed 70% of the time.
I’m sorry to hear of your situation Adrian. I hurt my back once when I was 21. It wasn’t as serious as yours though I couldn’t walk properly for a few days.

Regarding space, I feel your dilemma, I am completely blocked up with stuff, I've found the most amazing stuff the last few weeks which I'm really happy about however I don't turn it over quick enough and something has to give. Making hay while the sun shines is all good and well but we have to be able to store the hay 😉😆

Re lawnmowers, drove past a house a few days ago with a whole fleet of them, about 8 all neatly lined up 😂 Not for me but I'm sure someone would have grabbed them. I'm parked up in a shady spot, supposed to be doing my scrapping out, but watching you instead 😁

Quick space-saving tip with the push bikes; hold the front wheel between your knees and give the handlebars a 90 degrees twist . Doesn't always work especially with rusty ones but the bars won't keep catching on things when you're loading/unloading.
