The problem is a lot of things that are simply algorithms are being rebranded as AI. Especially if a sensor is involved. But talking heads and marketing people either don't know or don't care
Damn! you predict it well with security camera, voting count, and recent Xiaomi car and worst part is tech "nerd" keep defending it like revolutionary stuff despite is just cheap rebrand with excuse like "This is a new technology, eventually it will be better" while completely ignored the issue they created.
This trend unfortunately more damaging than make progress.
I miss when these events were about actual tech being revealed to enthusiasts rather than attracting investors with fancy words.

Long before time had a name, these were called algorithms.
AI robbed us from properly priced graphics cards...
Not just the pricing, they deliberately kept the VRAM chips for their "AI" cards. So it's a double whammy.
16GB should have been standard LAST gen and it's not even standard THIS gen. Both the 3070 and 3070Ti are perfectly capable cards but they are SEVERELY dragged down by the fact that they have just 8GB. You get a texture memory warning in the Cyperpunk 2077 "Phantom Liberty" update if you have an 8GB card.

Nah, they're not that expensive, maybe you think so because the inflation in your country has only rased now, but here in my country inflation has been consistently high and the prices are actually cheaper than the older models

@@zdspider6778 to be fair AMD already had 12GB+ cards from lower mid to high end segments for the last Gen but many laughed at them. Even tech journalists criticized the 'excessive amount of VRAM'.
Now these cards are perfectly fine and will be for 1-2 more years before raytraycing matured enough and will be 'mandatory' for a proper gaming rig.
The reason they say AI so much is because it's the next big thing that corporations are trying to profit off of, first being crypto. Expect higher gpu price as NVIDIA and AMD convince the consumer of the new normal

@@chillnspace777 I won't deny the dangers of this new technology. But it largelly depends on us, the general population, on how it will turn out. If we let the elite to exploit the AI to their own economical benefit, while discarding humanity, then we'll head to even more dystopian future. Bear it mind, if AI do replace most jobs, that would spell the doom for the captalist system, as jobless population doesn't buy much if at all. It would have to either regress back (techno feudalism?) or progress further (socialism).
In regards to fear mongering about 'evil super AI' going rogue, let's just leave that silly fantasy to the movies.

@@arjix8738also AI now works well with text. CHATGPT was really a big step because everyone was able to see why it is amazing. So everyone now is interested in AI because you can go to someone and say: hey, look at this text, it was generated by AI, or look at these MidJourney images.
