He said "only on *the* edge", with the edge device in question being your machine. You aren't safe.

Stop the Linux bullshit. A lot of games and software don't run on Linux.
Saying its local doesn't mean shit. The only reason they would ever do this is if they can mine data from it. Which most likely will be the case. They can not only tell how long someone is on something, how often they scroll and so on. It's esentially what social media does but now it will be literally everything you ever do on your PC.
it's crazy Satya thinks the user would want or value something like this. something like Facebook Memories montage of your browser history. Microsoft tried to do the same with Xbox Kinect, where it would monitor your biometrics and collect that data, but they tried to sell it as beneficial to the user.
And it's even not 100% local, Microsoft's server still wants to know what you've asked your AI chip to do first before allowing you to use it.
Exactly never trust these fuckers or the government
@@SP95 Exactly. They'll have something where it will have to check in with a server or something like that...and i'm sure some info is gonna get sucked up..
I don't trust this claim at all. Unless they require a RTX 4080 for this feature, it has to run somehow. And Microsoft doesn't have a magic LLM that could achieve this just by running on a CPU.
fuck no, how do I turn that shit off
Format C drive, install Linux. There will be no 'off' option for this feature in Windows. There might be a button, but rest assured it will do nothing other than try convincing you the spyware has been turned off.

Linux lookin real secure rn
Linux has always been significantly more secure then windows. Security through obfuscation is a joke, open source has been proven to have a factor of ten less bugs and security flaws then proprietary software
also, linux gives complete control to the user, not to the programs.
but in windows you don't have access to kernel but literally EVERY program you install can easily access your kernel and install malware/spy on you/steal your data/mine on your computer without you even noticing.
@aaaaaa-hh8cq when I first switched to Linux I was taken aback at just how well structured the permissions system is. If I want to I can allow or restrict any program I want to be able to have read and/or write permissions to a single directory. Just also even the fact that most distros set up a separate admin root account on install, something meant to be a standard admin and security procedure for a PC but requires a bunch of extra setup on Windows (especially with forcing user accounts to be tied to a microsft account). Also there's much less tedium in having a separate admin account and needing to switch to it thanks to sudo

honestly linux is better at most things, but lacks in these areas:
1: installing software is sooo much easier on linux *ONLY IF* it's available on your distro's package manager. if it's not available, you're going to have to do a lot more work.
2: gaming on linux is easy with steam and proton, but pirating games is hard
This is going to end well.

Linux distros I personally recommend to Windows users: Linux Mint, Pop OS, Zorin OS.
Been on Nobara with KDE since January and it's solid. Yes the app support is not good as on Windows and there are occasionally some bugs. But when I compare it to what it was like 4 years ago. It's night and day difference especially for occasional gamers I can say Linux is usable and getting better every day. It didn't used to be like that. And if more users switch to Linux the better support from developers there will be. Yes it sucks to be "early adopter" but it's worth it. BTW still using Windows on VM, I need Office for some work stuff. Been trying alternatives but many documents are broken.
