These are some of the best styled trucks GM has had in years. Yes, the front end is sort of complicated/busy, but this is now true with a lot of trucks. This one definitely looks aggressive, but it ties and binds into the overall design very well. If I hadn't already gotten a build date for a Maverick I've had on order, I'd have considered ordering one of these.
I was originally looking at a 22 Canyon until I saw the 23's. The interior alone has made me change my mind and go with the Z71. Can't wait to get one.
This is a really good review. Excellent teamwork and "back and forth" between you, gents. Very informative, authoritative, and free from obscurantist jargon. Well done!
@@TruckKinggreat video. I would have to say the best that gm has to offer and I would like to see a review video of is the gmc canyon at4 for 2023. You get the lift, interior heated and vented seats and sunroof all models include the highest output of the 2.7l engine. Great video
I would still like to have a light switch. Many times in fog or snow that the lights don’t come on automatically because the sensor thinks it’s light but you want to manually turn on the lights. Don’t want to be fiddling around with a menu to turn them on.
I’m glad you guys have an honest review of these trucks everyone else really did not talk about the negatives on them like you guys did. There is 2 different sets ups for the engines For the WT
This truck is so far ahead of Fords dated worldwide-carryover Ranger it’s not even close. This truck blows it out of the water. Props to GM & Nissan on coming out with great new midsize pickups!
For me the Colorado has gone from irrelevant to a midsize benchmark. Love that 2023 is “the year of the midsize pickup.” Looking forward to seeing how the new Colorado, new Ranger, and new Tacoma compare. In addition, the new for 2022 Frontier is a fine truck. For that matter, the Ridgeline will actually win many midsize truck tests (eliminating off-roading or max towing as variables). Very impressed with the Colorado. We plan on buying at the end of 2024. Looking forward to seeing how the midsize market plays out.
Before the truck was function over form now its form and function. The truck has always been relevant with lockers front and rear with the zr2.... Now the old Bison was amazing I cant wait to see the new Bison!!
@@samduran5180 as of today, I saw a video of a camouflaged ZR2 Bison. I am sure it will be something special. I don’t need something that off-road worthy, but enjoy looking! ;)
Thanks for the review. I have never been a GM guy, but that interior is a significant looking upgrade. Trucks "looks" much better, and fresher. Thanks Stephen, I was the guy at the airport Sunday morning.
Thanks for the review! I really like the styling inside and out of this truck, I think it's best looking of the bunch of midsizers including the ones to come the Tacoma (patent drawings) and Ranger. One concern was the smaller back seat, and was hoping to see yall get in it to compare for larger guys. I have adults in my back seat a couple of times a week so I am always interested in that.
I have a Colorado on order Z71. Ordered over the Trail Boss to get the heated seats, sun roof and up level interior. I thought that the Z71 had a lift kit above the work truck? What would the increased torque from the standard Z71 to the HO give me? My truck probably will never go off road. Thought your review was very interesting and gave a lot of pros and cons. I did have a 2017 ZR2 which I traded for 2020 Ram Larimie crew cab. Ram turned out to be great vehicle on the road but just too big. Looking forward to the Z71.
Regarding the styling, love it! Best looking mid-size truck on the market. I actually like all the trims, but I think the trail boss would probably be my pick if I was on any type of budget. I'm also really looking forward to seeing more on the GMC version, the last generation I liked the GMC styling better.
You can upgrade your Turbo Plus engine to the High Output (with just a tune) as an option, even if your truck is delivered as a Turbo Plus, because they have the same internals. And you can "check the block" on an order for a WT for the High Output, but for the base engine some of the internals are different and Chevy won't flash that ECU and give it a warranty. Although I'm more than sure the aftermarket already has figured out a way get a LOT out of it. They're built crazy strong
I think people are still figuring out the newer ECUs on these GM trucks. Remember seeing there wasnt much out there for the prior 2.7, 5.3 etc just due to tuners having a hard time unlocking the ECU.
@@ALMX5DP that makes sense. If it was a performance vehicles they'd have already done it. And for anybody reading this a little down the road it may be all sorted out but at the time of this post you're probably right.
@@JasonYergin totally I hope it’s figured out. Heard great things about the 2.7 and while I’m not a huge advocate for tuning these modern boosted engines to the limit it would still be cool to see people push them and improve performance. I think the aftermarket does influence OEM design and development in that way being kinda like guinea pigs so that manufacturers know where to focus their energy on for future iterations.
@@ALMX5DP that’s true too. If it was mine there’s no way I would do more than just a light tune on it. But every video I watched on these indicates they are built like diesels so hopefully that speaks to their longevity, only time will tell, but I hope they last a really long time.
I really wish GM would make an SUV version of this to go after the 4Runner. I don't have much use for a pickup, but I'd be in line to put my money down on an SUV version. The 4Rrunner is old as dirt and still sells over 100k a year, I don't get why GM wants to ignore that market.
@Brian-xi3kz the o6 trailblazer model is even better that the brand new blazers...gm dropped the ball on that. I grew up in a 4.3 93 blazer 4x4 and still love my midsized 4x4 suv from gm!
The 4runner sells because its a 4runner and has a cult following. There’s a reason everyone else left that space, no other vehicles like that sold well ya genius. The entire reason ppl want a 4runner is because its a proven design with minimal changes (old as dirt in your words). You basically want to change everything that makes a 4runner a 4runner and expect it to sell well. Good thing you don’t work for GM, you’d make them bankrupt again 🤡🤡
Would really like to see you guys have a discussion on these small and mid size trucks about reliability. Throw the entry level trucks in as well as the top models of the Maverick, Ranger, Colorado, Santa Cruz, and Tacoma and see where the dust settles.
You Make zero sense.. Guessing you are a Millennial due to the Fear in Voice.. " How do you talk about a 'Reliability" Before its even being sold. again, rather stupid.
Only reason I've ever touched the light knob was to turn the lights off then on to see if the lights were on. You're right about the exterior lines. So many lines. With the grill being so high, it makes the truck look tall and narrow with a high centre of gravity
The only problem I have with the light control is I never drive anywhere without at least having the running lights on. Not the daytime running lights, because I like having lights on the back of the vehicle on too. It would only mean I'd have to turn the lights fully on when I drive in the dark so it's not that bad.
Truck Mom❤️, we finally see the real boss of this crew!!!Truck Mom looked comfortable and happy, she’s turned out a pretty great bunch my opinion!!! THANKS TRUCK MOM!!! ❤️ Gods greatest gift to us all is that lady we call Mom!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the great review guys. The most disappointing aspect of this new truck is the lack of the longer 6 ft 2 inch bed. I do lawncare work on weekends with a 2010 Sierra. I've always liked the Canyon and was looking at it as a possible replacement but the lack of the longer bed takes it away as a consideration for work purposes.
A couple of days ago I saw a 2 dr regular cab 2 wheel drive Tacoma. I was like wow, you never see anything like that anymore. It would be kind of cool if someone made a regular cab short wheel base pickup that could compete with wrangler.
I like the overall look of the truck. The front end is a little too busy. I wish there was an option for LED headlights on the Trail Boss. Also, I wish there was a different color for the interior other than black. In the previous version you could get a gray and black interior.
It will be interesting to see the mileage difference between base engine and the higher output engines. I have watched all the new midsized GM reviews and feel like I would go with a regular cab GM full size for the extra room and capability for the same price.
Their was a leaked memo that showed the rating as 19/24 for the + and HO and 19/25 for the base engine. Personally, I don't want a full size even if the price is the same. Where I park at my house it is easier to park a mid-size. In general it is just easier to live with. If I have to make two trips to home depot once or twice to carry more stuff it is not a big deal.
If you look at 9:59 you'll see mileage on dash is 17.4MPG. Even if you give back a few MPG for it being driven hard and possibly idling a long time, that's not a great number. In another video with the Z71 I saw 14.5MPG with 250 miles on the trip odometer. So you're probably looking at terrible gas mileage with the work truck and Ford Raptor fuel economy with the high output 4 cylinder. But hey, it has good emissions so who cares how much fuel you burn?
Did you drive the HO turbo? Curious what that 430 lb/ft of torque feels like in a smaller/lighter truck. Terrible news on the twitchier/rougher ride though. The previous Colorado was best in class for ride and comfort.
Like the look, I can see where it looks busy so far but like anything else it grows on you. Hey I know that fella from Motoring! Good to see both of you guys!
Have a 2017 WT 4x4 6ft bed with the 2.5l and you talk about buzzing, lol. It gets the job done but its power is all in the higher rpm range. Gets phenomenal fuel mileage if you drive it sensible and keep your foot off the floor. Does really well off road with that G80 locker and good tires. I have been very happy with it.
Thank you for this awesome review! Helped me really lock down the trim I want to get. LOVED the 2023 Z71 Colorado when I test drove it. Definitely ordering myself one soon. For me the lift was tempting but at the end of the day its going to be my daily driver in hot ass Texas and a road tripper. So for my partner and I, having off road capability for parks and skiing etc is great, but swapping that 2in loft for the extra comfort and features is worth it to us. I want an air conditioned butt when I get off work 12hr at the plant and I want to just relax and not be in a stifling hot truck after working on boilers.
Ordered a Z71 in Jan, with a ton of options, but 18" wheels.. Was told it wont start being built until 3-27. hopefully no hang ups.... I thought the Z71 came with like a 1" lift?
Great video. Ok so help confirm for me. I love a mid size truck. It almost never snows here in NC. At most I will do some dirt rd driving. I will not be doing any major off rd. My thoughts are work truck with the computer upgrade for more power. I do have a small camper. I only drive like 5 miles to work all I need is a decent radio and cold ac. Please confirm that I can get the work truck with an upgrade on power.
I agree it looks great, but I'm concerned about the twitchiness and the noise. Been driving a Ranger Lariat Tremor and it's fairly quiet and I don't find it buzzy at all. It is laggy, though, but once it spools it just goes hard. I'm looking for a midsize with a bit more refinement as I'm not going off road as much as I planned. I'll test drive a Z71, but I don't have much hope.
I like my 2022 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 Bright Blue Metallic with a V6 3.6 Engine and 8 speed Transmission. Happy to own it and fun to drive and long trips are great.
But it still seems so narrow. Those guys elbows were almost touching. A small truck used to fit three Americans in the front bench seat. I understand Americans got bigger, but I think small trucks also got narrow
@@0my I think that's somewhat a function of how popular midsize trucks have gotten as purpose built off roaders and overlanding rigs where having a narrow body is a plus on the trail. I think most manufacturers have realized that's a big segment of the midsize market and people who want that more luxurious, big, wide, on-road comfort are going up to the half tons.
I saw Stephen’s non speaking cameo on Andre’s TFL Truck 🛻 comparison video earlier. I have wanted a mid size truck 🛻 for a very long time and was excited about the new Colorado and Canyon and I still am. I am just bummed that the pricing starts for the Z71 where the optioned out previous generation Z71 topped out at. Making an even more ridiculously expensive truck. More tech upgrades I know. I love the look, the interior and tech features in the Z71, but the price tag 🏷️ and off road capability for a guy with a limited budget who loves to hunt and fish 🎣, kayak and camp 🏕️ has me leaning toward the Trail Boss. I built one for around 42-43k USD vs 48k USD for the Z71. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and driving experiences. So glad to see these finally come out. 😎
I’ve got a big fishing kayak @ 12’ 7” and only want the truck for recreational purposes. The lack of 6’ bed options is killing me. Still focused on the Frontier SV.
so, when I purchase the 2023 or 2024 model in the next 3 or 5 years, what is going to be the round about price to fix/replace the all digital display if and when it goes out?
Speaking of cost savings. The sticker isn't needed foe towing. They don't list VIN specific towing because you get 1 of 3 ratings regardless of options. 3500, 6000, 7700.
@@youngblood23rb yes! a long neglected segment. I think they are basing the ignoring of the market on slow sales of the Sport-trac Adrenalin which last came out in 2008-2010 during the recession. That was a great looking truck.
Very good redo of these midsizers.but one option which would really sway me is a 6’ bed. The Frontier and Tacoma still offer them and that gives me a much easier time loading kayaks right into the bed without having to use an overhead rack. I see plenty of Tacomas especially driving around with the 6’ bed so there must be a decent market for it.
The lease on my 2020 Silverado LTZ 6.2L ends in 2 months, right around the time the Colorado ZR2 starts production. I also have a 2021 Blazer RS with a year left on the lease, so call that a "buffer vehicle". That being said, I've already submitted my order for a 2023 Colorado ZR2, loaded, Glacier Blue, but not going for the Desert Boss edition since it'll definitely come with dealer markups (and honestly, not a fan of the rear roll bar setup anyway. I can always add the Safari Bar after the fact). I was on the fence on the 2.7L, for sure, dropping from the 6.2L, but my wife has a 2020 Colorado ZR2 and it's plenty quick enough, so the same HP coupled with the 430 lb./ft torque (just shy of the 6.2L torque) should be plenty powerful. I'll just need to get used to not having that V8 sound and at least some turbo lag. The only other thing I'll miss from my current Silverado LTZ Z71 is the fact I have a HUD and the Colorado ZR2 doesn't, but the new GMC Canyon AT4X & Denali have it, but really, I'm not going to spend an additional $10,000 on the GMC just to get it. Chevy will probably add it to the 2024 model year for a $1k or $2k upgrade package, but the HUD in the Canyon is only 6 inches, vs the current full size truck HUD of 15 inches, so really comes down to preference of how bad you really want it. My opinion is that I don't need to spend that much money to avoid looking down a few inches, but obviously, to each their own. I really like your content, reviews and trust your information. I compare yours to several others in order to get the "full picture", but love your "real world" interpretation of your reviews; something other content providers I watch sometimes overlook. Keep up the great content!
The only thing I don't like about the auto lights is that nobody will have their lights on in the rain and fog. I see it now already all the time, people just assume that they're on. It's a minor gripe though as it appears you can still make a selection on the center screen.
On my 06 Dodge it has an option to turn the headlights on automatically whenever the wipers are on. I hope this is the case with this truck as well. It isn't a new concept.
I've never had that problem on my s10. As soon as the clouds get a little dark or it sprinkles, the lights are on. Might even be a little too sensitive. I wonder if the Colorado will be sensitive enough to make everyone not complain, what would be great is if you could adjust the threshold a bit.
My wife and I are the owners of a 2021 GMC Canyon Elevation 2WD crew cab with the 2.8L Duramax and for us, this new generation has missed the mark. Of course, we're not your typical buyers (how many other Canadians ordered a base model, diesel truck with 2WD?). We specifically ordered this truck based on my wife's experience as a GM Factory Technician and by 2021 the truck was entering its 10th model year so GM had sorted it out and the overall platform was solid and reliable (other than some major reliability issues with the 3.6L V6 and 8-speed automatic transmission). I'm sure objectively for most buyers this new truck is better in every measurable way and it hits the mark for what the majority of people are looking for in their trucks and because of that, GM will sell loads of them. For us, everything we love about our current truck is no longer available in this new package and we will not be trading in any time soon.
Been waiting for this review for months! Great job guys!! And you get to enjoy the Sunny South ! Sounds like overall, you weren't in love with the engines and driving experience, but appreciated the updates and the Features. I personally like the new styling . I also think the new interior looks better than the Nissan Frontier. But if I were to guess, I think the Frontiers engine and cabin sound deadening are better than the new GM twins. I guess we'll have to see what happens when you put a trailer on the back, throw it through the mud and the hydroline and see how it stacks up. Now we have to wait for the new Ranger and Tacoma. Can't wait for your next in-depth reviews
Technically two engines since the base engine carries a different RPO and is physically different. The Turbo Plus and HO are identical and it's just a tune which can be done at the dealer for $400 to go from 390lbft to 430
I prefer the Trail Boss. It will do anything I do. Most of my driving is on paved roads. Also not paying that much for a vehicle to take out in the woods tearing it up. Most of that stuff on the screen is just fluff that you won't actually use day to day. Just something to play with the first few days and nothing else.
Haven't heard the reason why they lengthened the wheelbase. I suspect it has something to do with crash tests. The last model was a little weak on offset crashes, so since they needed to beef up the frame anyway and moving the wheel forward helps prevent cab intrusion they made the change. They advertise it as better approach angle, but like you said it gives worse break-over and also you didn't mention, but the turning circle is probably bigger.
They probably had a lot of engineering based reasons but a longer wheelbase has better stability on road and towing, can smooth out the ride, and it increases the cabin space. Awesome truck. Good on GM/Chevy
How's the acceleration on the 310 HP/390 ftlb engine? You did an acceleration on the base, you should have done one on all of them. Great video as usual, I got to see these Trucks along with the Canyons @ the Chicago auto show and I'm very impressed with them! I think these are the best looking trucks on the market, defiantly makes the other midsize trucks look dated, can't wait to drive them 🙂
Could there be a truck queen or camping queen channel coming soon??? Lol! Im really liking the design of the new colorado, the only thing i dislike is the fact that theres only 1 engine with different power outputs. Does it really need more than 1 engine tho, no it doesnt. The trail boss power output is very nice though and even the step down with 390ft lbs is solid. Overall i think they did a great job on designing this to be an eye catcher and hopefully its a reliable powerplant. Check out tfl, they have a detailed video on the 2.7, and i do mean detailed with the engineer walking Andrey and us through everything
Towing sticker is on production vehicles today, so yes. My best guess is that there are so few configurations and different tow ratings on Colorado that they felt it unnecessary. But I think it's always helpful to provide more, clear info to customers.
I do occasional "truck stuff" with my truck, no long box no sale. I am gonna hang onto my '17 Canyon crew cab long box until the end of time 😆 "Turbo lag" was mentioned during the video. Modern turbos don't "lag". The reason there is a pause when the driver romps on the gas is tuning in the ECM to limit the onset of torque and emissions during big throttle inputs. Aftermarket tuning can bet rid of both, but modern ECMs are locked down and even if they aren't the EPA is watching. I have no doubt that without the OEM tuning limitations, the 2.7 is capable of legit stupidity in this truck. It is a pity that responsive capability will never see the light of day for most owners.
I like the styling but like the Canyon a little better. I really wish car companies and reviewers would stop describing everything with a drain plug as a possible cooler.
Interestingly, during the W/T driving section it showed that you were getting 17.9 mpg. That's terrible for a 4 cyl. For the price I'd go for a Silverado with the 3.0L diesel instead. I'm surprised that they're calling it a 2023 in Feb 2023. I would've expected 2024 for sure.
For a truck thats only being used for testing that sounds pretty good. Lots of full throttle and idling. Think of that as the bottom mpg. If it was a V8 tester it would probably be 10-12.
I saw the same thing and canceled my Trail Boss order this morning. In another video the Z71 showed 14.5MPG. That's worse fuel economy than you're going to see in a F-150 or even the Nissan Frontier. When I drove a Nissan Frontier Pro 4X at the dealer the odometer said 18MPG, with a lot of idling and test driving for sure. So this thing is going to be thirstier than the previous generation.
@@tomm1109 It has start-stop technology. Why would it be burning gas during idle? I think there's a reason why GM isn't talking about economy, mainly because it's going to backslide. This thing is 10" wider than the previous version and almost has the same drag profile as a full size truck. On top of that it's hundreds of pounds heavier than the previous version and some top level trims will be heavier than the base Silverado.
@@jhagen4850 all the videos I saw, when they reviewed the interior had the engine running even though it was in park. They probably turned off auto stop/start. The truck is rated at 19-20 city and 25 highway. But if you are that concerned about mileage I'd say get a car or a Maverick hybrid...if you can get one. My friend gets about 30+ in that
Big mistake getting rid of the light knob. I've got a 2017 Colorado. The auto light sensor does NOT perform well at dawn and dusk... and sometimes even cloudy days. I routinely have the truck think it's night time when it's plenty bright in the morning, which dims all the screens so you can't see them, so I have to manually turn off the lights. It's either that or play constant whack-a-mole with changing the interior light brightness. Now that the light control is on the center screen, itself, it'll be hard to even see the light button to turn off the lights when the automatic light sensor makes a mistake.
It looks great..best looking smaller truck by far...but it does look a little busy in flat black...it needs the color contrast to balance it out. Wish it came in an extended cab...dont like a crewcab in small pickup...may as well get a midsize SUV with a 5 foot bed
I had a 21 ranger lariat.. Wanted a. New truck all Edmonton dealers say there new Colorado/canyons were reserved already and would have to wait until the summer so I bought a frontier pro4x.. Great truck
Best looking in the segment now. Not busy at all in my opinion. IF I were to buy one, I'm sure the aftermarket is going to go nuts with performance mods.....
Not feeling great about the lack of a headlight knob. It should at least be one touch to turn the lights on when in fog, whiteout, or heavy rain when auto won't do it for you. Now I have to fumble with essentially a tablet on the dash to turn my tail lights on, but if I touch my phone, I could have my license suspended...
I really like this new trail boss but the only issues I've had with my 2019 leveled long bed Colorado 4x4 is the glitchy infotainment system so having so many controls moved to that infotainment system concerns me a bit.
Would you be able to mount a snow plow on the Colorado? Are these engines and transmission be capable of holding up to doing some plowing for yourself, not commercially?
Ranger only offers a 6 ft. Bed with the extended cab only toyota and nissan mid-sizers offer crew cab with 6 ft. Bed, GM & Ford listen to your customer needs
I understand having one engine, but I don't understand one configuration. Especially in the work truck. The access cab with the 6' bed is a great utility platform. Sad to see that go.
The only downside to no light manual light switch. If for some reason the screen goes out what do the headlights do. No light control is it legal to drive?
Really disappointed they didn't keep the diesel option going for it. Better fuel economy and good torque towing, was a nice option to have, but with rising diesel costs and maintenance, I suppose it was inevitable to get the axe. Kind of odd they did a new model year without a hybrid version, I would have suspected one in the works with chev practically making an EV out of most of their vehicles coming up. No 6' bed also a disappointment, actually made it an option worth looking into above others.
Really nice stying imo BUT it missed the mark not offering a 6ft bed and I'm not a fan of that 2.7 engine...IDK it's a blahhh for me but I think people will at least consider it now. BTW I have auto lights and I don't use it ever so yeah I want the headlight knob. Having everything in one spot might seem smart until something has a glitch (which we know happens).
The people that don't use the auto function on their headlights, or at least don't realize they don't have auto, are the ones you see driving at night without their headlights on....so fully automating the headlights is a good call.
Hey now I LIKE the outdated interior in my ‘22 ZR2 that I got large laser on your recommendation after being on a bronco badlands waitlist for a year. Hey a couple things to check in the new gen that are lacking in the 22: 1) the ‘22 headlights are dangerously bad, and the first upgrade usually recommended. How is night driving? 2) Being “Shrek shaped” the Colorado was the midsize I fit in best. Does the Colorado maintain it’s Shrek friendly nature? 3) The interior screen dimming is poor on the ‘22 so I am often adjusting it to see better at night. 4) the sports bar is dumb and the lights just illuminate the cab roof 5) the last gen ZR2 can be lifted to clear 35”s but it involves lots of cutting, regearing, and big bags of money. What’s it going to take on the 23? 6) are the shock supports still under the axels to drag on stuff? 7) have a shortie crawl in the lifted units, the grab bars are way up high and awkward in the 22 Thanks TK!
Well done!
Much appreciated!
TK > TFL for info and details. Good job
GM needs a higher trail boss, this one is comparable to a custom trail boss in the Silverado. LT trail boss?

I think the box needs to be 6 ft to be honest. 6 ft bed is a sweet spot
Per a video over at TFL, Andre stated the transmissions are not entirely the same but that has yet to be confirmed
I really wish GM would make an SUV version of this to go after the 4Runner. I don't have much use for a pickup, but I'd be in line to put my money down on an SUV version. The 4Rrunner is old as dirt and still sells over 100k a year, I don't get why GM wants to ignore that market.
A real blazer would be nice instead of a cross over.
👍
Agreed. They nailed the new designs.
I love the fact of FAMILY involved…
Americans need more of that. God bless you guys very informative.
love that measuring ''tape", half an inch accuracy, finally a measuring device that reflects accuracy of ontario construction standards
Way too early to know. Brand new truck, brand new engine.
Yep new engine with a turbo and cylinder deactivation and a 8 speed transmission that has been historically problematic.
It's not a new engine and transmission. It has been in the Silverado 1500 since 2019. The transmission had issues and was updated a few years ago.
Can't forget about the nissan frontier, which, so far, will be my next truck.
Truck king crew doing his thing 👍
Dude Just buy a full size truck..
Get the Frontier, I’ve got the crew cab with the six foot bed, and rides pretty nice.
@@jhagen4850 idling and driving hard off road you would need to give back more than a few mpg
I bet a 6 cylinder would get the same MPG because the 4 cylinder is working so hard.
Great review, thank you. And 👍🏻on the styling. Love the trail boss and the fact they put it on the w/t platform. Well done gentlemen.
Did you drive the HO turbo? Curious what that 430 lb/ft of torque feels like in a smaller/lighter truck. Terrible news on the twitchier/rougher ride though. The previous Colorado was best in class for ride and comfort.
Is this truck big enough for 4 guys over 6’? Seems like it might be a little tight and therefore why not just get a 1/2 ton?
Like the look, I can see where it looks busy so far but like anything else it grows on you. Hey I know that fella from Motoring! Good to see both of you guys!
Payload at 1455lb (is 660kg), how do you fit 4wd accessories, 4 people and camping gear in that?
Here in Oz, the similar pick-ups can carry 2200lb+...
What does the 4 cyl. do different for the money? Besides paying more and getting less. Or are we really getting more in the mid size
4 cylinder engines belong in economy cars not trucks that will top out at $70k CDN
I like the aggressive front end. The Ranger refresh when it hits NA in 2024 looks nice as well. Good time for midsize trucks.
I like it..prices for trucks though have gone insane
Ordered a Z71 in Jan, with a ton of options, but 18" wheels.. Was told it wont start being built until 3-27. hopefully no hang ups.... I thought the Z71 came with like a 1" lift?
You're Canadian so you've seen the Canadian Silverado ZR2 commercial where they state ZED R2.
Where's your Canadian pride?
If i could get 6ft bed and crew cab i would be sold.
BEST looking midsized pickup and it's not even close. Chevy hit this one out of the park.
What California trail was that? I live in Southern California so I’m curious.
The truck looks great, huge improvement. And the interior is so much better than anything else in the mid-sized truck selection
@@0myAn S10 could fit 3 men in the front bench? Bull.
Got a Lt with the turbo+ engine and it's really nice. Enjoying the crap out of this truck.
so, when I purchase the 2023 or 2024 model in the next 3 or 5 years, what is going to be the round about price to fix/replace the all digital display if and when it goes out?
Less. Because more models have them so there will be wider availability for both new and used.
Speaking of cost savings. The sticker isn't needed foe towing. They don't list VIN specific towing because you get 1 of 3 ratings regardless of options. 3500, 6000, 7700.
I like the look and in particular, the stance of the trucks. I think the one cab / one bed size might be a mistake.
How does it compare to the frontier
Here's a crazy idea: offer a 2wd version lowered by two inches and tuned like the Cadillac CT4-V but moreso. 350+ horsepower. SS Colorado.
That's extreme
My thoughts exactly enough with the offroad overload, bring back a street truck
@@youngblood23rb yes! a long neglected segment. I think they are basing the ignoring of the market on slow sales of the Sport-trac Adrenalin which last came out in 2008-2010 during the recession. That was a great looking truck.
I forgot to mention a modern day cyclone for gmc with a 3.6 turbo from the ct4-v blackwing
@@tomm1109 I am starting to see quite a few F150 Reg cab coyots popping up so I have hope lol
This is easy 80k in Canada for the loaded options
Lol, $80k CDN for a 4 cylinder
Love the styling. But love even more the Canyon.
Excellent video! Hello Truck Queen!! 😊👍🏼
I'm not sure the WT you were driving was the base engine. If there is an armrest then its the 310/390 engine.
I may have missed it in the video...but the differences on power output...is all just tuning and bolt ons or or is it also internal
Does anyone know when the driving impressions embargo is lifted on the 2023 GMC Canyons?
It would help high speed stability with the quicker steering ratio. Might increase leg room also.
I’m wondering if the towing sticker is something done for production vehicles? It will be interesting to see because it does come in handy some times
Towing sticker is on production vehicles today, so yes.
My best guess is that there are so few configurations and different tow ratings on Colorado that they felt it unnecessary. But I think it's always helpful to provide more, clear info to customers.
I didn’t see a drop off in towing numbers until you get to the ZR2, that’s only about 6k.
I do occasional "truck stuff" with my truck, no long box no sale. I am gonna hang onto my '17 Canyon crew cab long box until the end of time 😆
"Turbo lag" was mentioned during the video.
My friend gets about 30+ in that
Absolutely NOT too busy IMO. On the contrary, the aesthetics are aggressive…and I like!
Fun fact: GM parts is offering the H/O specs through a OBD program update for the mid 310hp engines.
They should adjust did what the GMC did with the Canyon. Make? Them all the same with the wide. Body and the JMC Canyon looks way better.
I think a mistake on the light knob. What happens if you’re entertainment center is glitching or it goes out?
@TruckKing. I don’t have telegram.
Only version I'm interested in is the WT trim. Don't want the gawdyness of the other trims.
HAPPY FRIDAY... ALWAYS LOVE THE ON ROAD REVIEWS 🙏 LOVE THE CHANNEL.... HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAY EVERYONE ✌️...
Chevy's electrics have always had issues.. hope they worked on it
As a gen z the technology on the base wt is awesome
Would you be able to mount a snow plow on the Colorado? Are these engines and transmission be capable of holding up to doing some plowing for yourself, not commercially?
Check the Chevy website, but my gut says no.
Took you a LONG time to introduce your Mom. Very nice though. Appreciated it! Hi Mom!!!!
No 6’ box is an absolute deal breaker for me!
Buy a the Ranger with the 6ft bed. It’s the better truck anyway.
I really dig the styling of the WT. Here’s hoping dealership markup’s won’t exist.
Initially I was liking the trail boss ,until I found out you can't get half the options of the higher level trims. Way to bare bones for my liking.
Im guessing mom is a fantastic cook!
Just ordered our 2023 Colorado Trailboss today! Will likely be 3-5 months before I actually see it.
Oh boy, I still use the headlight knob on my 2014 F150, old school I guess..
wanna see that black on the front changed to body color and and I think that would make it look much better. Already like it, but it could be better
The people that don't use the auto function on their headlights, or at least don't realize they don't have auto, are the ones you see driving at night without their headlights on....so fully automating the headlights is a good call.
I see you guys rubbing elbows is the interior same is the present Ranger!good video 👍🏽
Hey now I LIKE the outdated interior in my ‘22 ZR2 that I got large laser on your recommendation after being on a bronco badlands waitlist for a year.
Hey a couple things to check in the new gen that are lacking in the 22:
1) the ‘22 headlights are dangerously bad, and the first upgrade usually recommended. How is night driving?
2) Being “Shrek shaped” the Colorado was the midsize I fit in best. Does the Colorado maintain it’s Shrek friendly nature?
3) The interior screen dimming is poor on the ‘22 so I am often adjusting it to see better at night.
4) the sports bar is dumb and the lights just illuminate the cab roof
5) the last gen ZR2 can be lifted to clear 35”s but it involves lots of cutting, regearing, and big bags of money. What’s it going to take on the 23?
6) are the shock supports still under the axels to drag on stuff?
7) have a shortie crawl in the lifted units, the grab bars are way up high and awkward in the 22
Thanks TK!
Why is fuel mileage still not released on the new truck. Its supposed to be released shortly but still dont know what its going to get.
