@blush_response as an owner of Peak, Hydra, Modwave, and OpSix, which of those 2 Korg modules best pairs with the Hydra and Peak for dark & industrial sounds? I use an MPC for multisamples, Digitakt for sequencing/sample based sound mangling, and I hate using the computer for sound design... I am thinking the OpSix better suits the use-case, but I'd like to hear from your experience
.. as is Oscillator Sink with his beautiful lo-fi 'future memories' patches... The thing is tremendously versatile... but agree it is good to hear it being used in the context of 4 to the wall techno..!
The really mind-blowing part of these Effect Operators is that they're *per-voice* and able to be modulated using the Mod Matrix. I love the modWave, but it puts the 01/W Waveshaper on the Pre FX bus, so you're basically crushing a mix bus (which has it's place), this however is so nice to have it per voice
Hey! So this are the best sounds I have heared the last days, when I was watching nearly every review with the opsix by people relating to electronic music. With a zen delay after this thing you will shredd everything!! I want to try this so hard. Thanks man,.. Nice sounds.
Hadn't shown any interest in this new Korg trio (with the exception of the Modwave) but once again Blush Response sells it in seconds. Never seen such a performable fm synth
OMG!!!! As a DX7 FM fan I've been waiting for this for over 30 years. The power and versatility of FM. In a more compact unit. With a more user friendly interface. Effects and a sequencer. I'm getting this. Look out for the DEMOS in 2023. The 40th anniversary of the DX7. I'm going to take FM to the next level.
You're quickly becoming one of the best youtube reviewers. Simply because you’re a uniquely modern musician not interested in reliving the past or buying a synth because “it sounds like Vangelis” etc. You’re getting the real sounds, and putting it in an immediate context where it’s musically relevant and useful. Love that. Oh and the ducking mic gives vibe man, like the first days listening to pirate radio. Never stop doing that! :-) Personally I find more ‘soul’ in some dissonance and complexity of sound and thats where other reviewers are lacking, they seem content with simpler sounds. You’re filling a niche thats been waiting for you. Looking forward to seeing more
interesting take on a channel "blush response" ;) Good video for pushing the demo the "the other edge", but too much random knob twisting to actually explore or derive some "how".
Only four and a half minutes in I had to stop this to see if I could use the knobs and sliders on my Oasys (Also Korg, also has FM) to edit sounds easily. And the answer is yes!! Thank you so much for making me look again at a section of that beast I had previously neglected.
Right? He said the only thing further than the opsix would be using the samples for fm, to fm each other. Then he mentioned a couple Yamaha synths that do that, and said that's it for hardware. And I was thinking "I know there's an obvious one he's missing" but I couldn't remember until I saw your comment. Then I had to laugh. I must've had a brain fart. It seems like opsix can get hellacious noises without resorting to that, but it's a little weird Korg left sample-on-sample violence out of opsix. Maybe the processor couldn't handle it? Maybe they didn't think our ears would sign the consent form? Oasys has nothing like modwave. Oasys' wave sequencing is much different from Wavestate's sample and parameter Tetris. It could be a little harder for you to justify opsix. Unless you have like 20 or 30 keyboards... if that's the case, what's one more? You could use the Oasys as a MIDI controller and have even more sliders...
Also, how many times did blush response say he wished there were more fx slots? With Oasys or Kronos or Nautilus, you get way way more. You can chain a whole bunch of individual fx, you get master fx, total fx. I think Korg updated some of the fx for the newer synths tho.
To anyone wondering what I'm talking about... with Oasys, Kronos or Nautilus there's an opsix inside of it, called mod7. Not exactly the same, but if you already had one of those, I think it's close enough.
Love the videos and this sold me on the opsix. Ordered one. Have you though a out getting a Behringer RD-9. Killer 909 sounds plus some more modern features that you might like as well. Only $349.
only magic to the 909 is the external instrument and total accent knob, but that was with regard to animating stuff like the dx100. but as long as you could map velocity to some parameter, any synth works. external instrument is responsible for jackin house circa 88 chicago. think trax records. also swing turns the external instrument into a beast by changing note lengths depending on which step the note falls on. its just quick and easy.
Thanks! Unfortunately the camera went slightly out of focus and I didn’t notice as I was busy with the Opsix, and this take turned out so good that I didn’t want to do another
@@blush_response Yeah for sure It's one of the best reviews I have ever seen, It is always inspiring seeing you talk about machines. Idk the editing process but maybe you can make like a zoom screen of the synth screen you know? like in future vids or smth
Hey Joey! What headphones are you using and how are you recording the sound output? Thanks so much for your music and amazing demos, interviews, and reviews. Keep it up ;)
i got like several minutes in and bought one, while theyre $330. worst case scenario i cant picture it reselling for any less if i get bored of it, but that randomize feature kinda sells me - a random starting point of inspiration to modulate and design it further, imo.
What I nearly hate about this synth is they’ve made it compatible to the DX7 to an extent that the preset loaders are asking in nearly every video about it. Korg should have trolled them by making it a 5 OP , 7 OP Synth. (or a 9 OP for drawbar functionality :-) My unanswered question is : which of the Opsix waveforms represent or can replicate the w1 to w8 waveforms of the 4 OP FM-synths ( I’m only just above the ankles deep into FM. I want to go knee deep, hip deep and then swimming in FM )
@@neonblack211 the hardware doesn't load DX7 patches. but the capability of loading DX7 patches was added in a fairly recent update. in the process some properties are dropped of modified, i guess. The DX7 doesn't have filters to my knowledge.

Honestly you’re like the only person on the Tube right now who is truly revealing what this synth is about. Great stuff
Seriously. So many demos are showing us how to make yet another digital piano. Thanks, I'm not aiming to start a Genesis tribute band.
Kinda crazy. I didn't realize how amazing the opsix was until I saw blush response use it. Now I want one. But plugin will do I guess

Finally a good fucking demo of this thing. I don’t give a fuck about marimbas and electric pianos. Finally some nasty shit. What FM was made for.
This is probably the best demo on RUclips of the craziness you can get out of this synth. It's given me some inspiration, thanks!
Totally awesome! DX7 digital sound as an indispensable ingredient in EBM. Sounds like F242 around 1987 :)
Korg should know about this vídeo. Is the best op6 performance i've ever seen
You must sell soundbanks!!!! EBM & Industrial, please! Great video!
I do, on my Bandcamp, and Patreon :)
Unbelievably good, this rips, thank you
Love the Opsix! Got one and will keep it forever
Gotta have one of these
You understand the demonic chaos that lurks inside the machine.
A Juno it is not...wonderful. 💣

Holy fuck, way to go make FM fun to jam with, Korg.
Dear god the industrial noises are incredible
That was so sick!! So glad you demoed it for us.
This review made me buy this synth! 😝
completely nuts! Very good sounds 👍
I couldn't figure out how to smash the like button so I touched it lightly.
It's not velocity sensitive.
@rlm4471 i knew about the aftertouch, but dang.
Great stuff man. Fantastic sounds and possibilities on display. Your enthusiasm and passion is infectious ;)
