I think it's important to share stuff online since schools are cutting out cursive writing at a young age and not caring as much about supporting art and music.
I don't do calligraphy, I've never watched a single video on it, I have no idea how this got recommended to me, all I know is that it was great. Also there was Tolkien so you know... even better.
I guess Rockin means something like washi tape or painter's tape - no trouble in pulling that off and sharpening first one then the other pencil, right 😉?
I also saw "Tolkien", and being both a Middle - Earth fan AND a calligrapher, clicked. Beautiful work! For a real Tolkien thrill, read Steve Stirling's alternate - future novels; you want the West Coast ones which begin with "Dies the Fire". If the world disintegrates, and you can re-found your part of it however you like..... one of the societies which arises wear a device which is a white tree, seven stars and a crown. I know it's weird to get a fervent recommendation to read a series of books from a stranger, but you really should. Your life will be the richer for it. Thanks again for the writing.
You need to emphasize that the 2 pencil points represent the width of a broad tip calligraphy pen, so just like when learning to use calligraphy pens and beginner italics, you MUST keep the writing tool consistently at 45 degrees. One way to practice or test this is to make the letter X. 45 deg. for the upstroke will produce the thinnest line and 45 deg for downstroke will produce widest line.
This a great video! Thank you! One thing I wanted to point out that kind of was a bit jarring to me... the word Uncial is pronounced unh-see-al. Just Google it and click on the sound of it. I would want to be corrected if I were making videos so hopefully you understand my good intentions. Thanks again for your videos!
The calligraphy was great! -- But -- the word is pronounced, "oon-see-all" or "yoon-see-all" or "un-see-all," because the C is before the I, uncial. Uncial and half-uncial are called that because they were a whole and a half inch, just about, in ancient times. (Uncial is related to inch and ounce.) -- -- It's ,minor, but it will help you be understood when you are talking to other calligraphers and alphabet historians.
Thank you. Yes, I accidentally pronounced it wrong and didn't figure that out until later. At least there's comments like this that can help correct the mistake!
Thank you for the comment! Keep it up with the calligraphy and be sure to try all kinds so you can also find new and unique ways to do different fonts!
Thank you! It was just a free track I downloaded from the RUclips Audio Library. I can't remember what it was called, but the audio library has a bunch of free .mp3 files anyone can download!
Hi Michael, I just came across your Awesome Tutorial, I'm lefthanded not sure how its going to come out but I have to try it. Thanks for sharing. New Subbie. Rosebud 🥀
As a leftie, it's best to create the shapes of each letter by pulling the pencils from right to left, instead of left to right as a right-handed person does. One of the most important rules of calligraphy is to always pull/drag the writing utensil and never push it against a surface. Hope this helps!
Great video! The MIDI music in the background will drive a person insane if wearing headphones (I started licking shoes after my listening), but I liked the content.
I think it's not un-i-cal, but uncial. Un-see-ul. And the angle for uncial is about 20 degrees. This is a good demonstration. (I think you are misunderstanding the whole angle thing.)
Mr. Damron, the font is Uncial, but you mispronounce it “you-ni-kal” , as if it were spelled u-n-i-c-a-l. Like nails on the chalkboard for me. 😳. It is pronounced something like “un-shal”.
Teacher: alright class, I’ve been getting really sloppy papers, I would like everyone to try their best to keep neat handwriting in this assignment. Me: *whips out a rubber band and an extra pencil* Classmates: what the fuck? This font: *shows up on paper* Classmates: *noses bleed*
Vraiment... Vraiment, moi j'apprécie beaucoup votre talent. Moi aussi je suis inspiré par le dessin. Et j'aimerais réaliser tant de choses,mais...je n'ai pas les moyens.
Going to try your technique as soon I find a rubber band. Looks unique and delightful !
So inspiring - definitely urges me more to practice more traditional styles. Amazing script. Thank you for the simple, easy to follow tutorial!
What a fun, easy and unique way to get really cool lettering.
Thankyou very much Sir you have just changed allot of people's lives. GOD BLESS YOU.
It was so cool to see this again. I haven't seen this since elementary school. Boy I just dateted myself lol. Glad it is being brought back.

Ha! RUclips and its mysterious algorithm; you never know what you'll get. I'm glad you enjoyed the video! And yes, Tolkien = Author Supreme.
I use tape. Less sliding. Once near the tip. Once closer to the middle/back.
Difficult to sharpen two pencils together

I am so pleased to know about your calligraphy tutorial. so much thanks for sharing. I liked it a lot.

Wonderful writing. Can I get these types of pencils online. Please give me the details. Merry Christmas and a Happy New year.
I'm sure you can. Just type in "white charcoal pencil" in a search bar on any seller of art supplies and they should come up.
@@Music_Art_Creativity Thanks Mike for your reply.
Teknik yang cukup sederhana tapinbisa menghasilkan tulisan tangan yang bagus dan rapi 👍
Pretty cool! Thank you very much 😀
I used to tie five pens together when I had lines to do as punishment in school - haha.
13Moondancer you must be related to the boy I went to school with who used the music staff liner on the chalkboard to write his sentences.
Yvonne Wallace you went to school with Nelson Muntz from Springfield elementary?

Hey, Great Job dude! I've learned so much from you. Thanks coach.will try it and reply to u.

And you also need to try to keep your letters the same size in comparison to each other.
That was not taught in this lesson, maybe the next...
3:13, I was thinking about how you’re waisting paper, not drawing on the back side. Then as if you’ve read my mind.
Though the same
Saaame
Great trick! Thanks a lot .

how is the name of the tipe of letter please? great video. thanks
The font is called Uncial. It was commonly used between 500-900 AD by Greek and Latin scribes.
Mr. Damron, the font is Uncial, but you mispronounce it “you-ni-kal” , as if it were spelled u-n-i-c-a-l. Like nails on the chalkboard for me. 😳. It is pronounced something like “un-shal”.

If you say this is good then you need to change your name. This is old English not calligraphy. I am a tattoo artist that specializes in script.

I used to do that as a kid..

Beautifully Art
You're smart..... Thank you!!!!!!!
Very interesting! 👌
What If use some tape instead of the rubber Band?
Tape would definitely do the trick as well!
I couldn't get the font name.. I heard something like a 'unicorn'. :/
The font is known as "uncial." It was a font commonly used between 300-700 A.D. by Greek and Latin scribes.
@@Music_Art_Creativity Thank you for the help :D

Great idea and tutorial. I think uncial is pronounced UN-see-al
You’re correct about the pronunciation! Thank you.
@@Music_Art_Creativity anytime!
Beautyfull job bro
What do you call this script?
It's called Uncial!
Can that be done without "music"?
Haha, of course it can! But maybe some Led Zeppelin would spice it up a bit. Perhaps "Ramble On"?
Michael K. Damron I really enjoyed the music choice! Not overpowering. Very soothing and great background music.
How can I do it smoothly show this in your next vedio please show your next vedio fast than you can
Porque me resulta difícil con la mano zurda?
Escritores da esquerda devem mover os lápis do lado direito para o lado esquerdo. Você quer sempre puxar os lápis, não empurrá-los.
Michael K. Damron muchas gracias👍👌
👍👍👍👍👍
Very nice
Awesome...
Wow 💜
Very nice...
Show how to do this left handed, because I'm a lefty
I'll try to work on my left-handed skills and give that video a shot!
