A gathering of songwriters, instrumentalists, and musicians in Sioux Falls, South Dakota who have spent their lives creating hand-constructed music that allows you forget all of the things that drag you down throughout the day.
Hometown Glow is bluesy, soulful, handmade, original music from the heart of the Midwest. Soaring vocals, creative chord progressions, blistering piano, choppy funk guitar, technical showstopping drums, and a whole lot of energy, Hometown Glow is first and foremost: a live band. Olsen says that other live bands in the area while growing up inspired Hometown Glow to create what they now have, "We grew up watching great musicians in Sioux Falls: Spooncat, Janitor Bob, Band from Earth, Nodes of Ranvier, Greenhouse, Snakebeard Jackson, Solution...all of which were incredibly creative and had a huge influence on us," Olsen smiles as he says, "watching them perform, we always felt somewhat second rate. When those bands were on fire the room felt airtight; sounds would pass right through you and blast around the room...that is the feeling we are aiming to recreate in our music...I feel us getting closer to that every day."
That idea, and their individual abilities, are creating a sound that is gaining momentum, Mike Dresch, lead engineer at Cathouse Studios in Sioux Falls, South Dakota says of the group, "I had the pleasure of recording Hometown Glow this past week here at Cathouse Studios. There were no drum samples and no Autotune used. This is real musicians playing real instruments, real well. Oh yeah, the songs are great too!"
