- BB-8 has a new friend. Meet D-O, the coolest Star Wars toy droid going on sale for Triple Force Friday on Oct. 4. The interactive, app-controlled droid is a self-balancing wheel packed with animations. It also comes with a few games and reacts to motion and loud noises. And it plays fetch with its own toy ball. This Hasbro toy is exclusively at Target for $150.

It seems like a random droid from Star Wars, but it’s not. This new and improved DIO droid has sayings like, “Goodbye Jojo.” He impresses everyone. He might die a few times but he always comes Babcock, until he doesn’t. This DIO droid is perfect for kids, and weebs. Every one will love it when they hear, “BUT IT WAS ME, DIO!” Everyone will love it

I feel like these “app/smart controlled” toys are outdated. It seems really tedious to have to control something manually with your phone/tablet. Haven’t we made a lot of progress in sensor technology where it could roam itself around, or even include voice control? It is nearly 2020.. Maybe they just wanted to keep production costs down and just sell the “oh that’s cute” factor..
