We'll not hear the beauty and power of this piece again - so grateful that Clara Haskil brought it to us. Absolutely magical performance! Kirtley Brown

    Charles Chaplin said
I met three genius persons all my life
    Sir.Winton Churchill,
    Albert Einstein,
    and Clara Haskil.
    I don't understand
    classical music because
    I am amateur.
but I understand her splendor by listening
    her play.

She was indeed a rare gem in classical music but it's her name associated with such questionable people as you listed that could be detrimental to her name. The first was a cruel drunkard statesman (let's bomb german women and children with phosphorous bombs that will never stop burning), or the most famous plagiarist in history who stole Henri Poincaré's theory of relativity (and first named so by Henri Poincaré).

Merveilleuse Clara Haskil !

Her Adagio part is better than Horowitz. Thanks for your father who kept and encouraged her talent !! How lovely she played !!

I've heard all the greats play Mozart, but none compares to Haskil. I wonder which piano she is playing on. It doesn't sound like a Steinway. Every note is fascinating.

Mozart himself would have cried listening. A gentle melody as a guide. And the violins triumph behind it.

Definitely, all a harsh, mechanical & cool version of this unspeakable Adagio....

A surprisingly masculine interpretation, but nevertheless delightful!
