Could you just engrave on the bottom of the trap with a dremmel and not need a tag? Thats my plan, just dremel in your hunter id number on the bottom plate
It varies state to state. Out this way, you need a bunch of personal information provided. Or you can get a number issued by the SGC, which is separate from your hunter/trapper ID number. I think people, at least myself, tend to stay away from engraving directly on the trap for the simple fact of transferring the trap(s) at some point. You can only grind and engrave so many times. If you take care of them they last decades, even centuries. I have some that were made in the 30s, used into the 80s, and I got my hands on them about 7years ago. They all operate great.
@@ratedredneck96 selling, passing down, lending out. I should have worded that differently. Made it sound like they needed registered. Lol. My state mandates that traps must be checked BY THE OWNER in a given number of hours. I've known guys that went out and switched tags for old timers when they were injured or sick and couldn't do it themselves. With permission, of course. Just to keep their lines going and fur coming in.
