One of my most special projects, an Omaha beach diorama. Since I was a child I wanted to build a project like this. Today I show how I made this project from start to finish. This time there will be no Scale model vehicle but 5 figures instead!
In this video I will show you how I prepared, designed and build the entire project. I will focus on the main details and how I painted every part until I got this final result.

BEST D-DAY DIORAMA I’VE SEEN , honestly !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s like you’re right there taking COVER !!!!!!!!!!!
VERY NICE JOB 👍
I’ll watch this again !!!!!!!!!!
CHRIS from OHIO 🇺🇸
Hello Chris!
Really motivating words. Glad you like the diorama composition, hope you find it helpful too.
💪🏻
Bravo! Great authenticity with the web gear/assault vests!
Thanks! It was the hardest part of all of it. Once I knew figure uniforms were not 100% accurate, I had no other choice.
Trying to sculpting these parts was challenging, but I think I had good results.
Great job, not just the model work but all the information
Thanks for your comment
Really glad you like the video 🙌🏻
great homage for those who gave their lives so we could life in freedom again. Brilliant work.
Glad you like the result 💪🏻
Thanks for commenting
It looks absolutely beautiful 🫡👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻💪🏻
Super thanks!
Really glad you like the diorama 🙌🏻
Great vid again! I would like to see more figure painting, i avoid them now. 🤭
Thanks!
Hahaha, figure painting is always tricky. Yes, I´m thinking about some ideas for figure related videos where I can show how I paint my figures
Hi buddy, your diorama is amazing. I just subscribed. the hole set up is just awesome, and you have done a brilliant job on the figures. Least we forget. Cheers, Gary UK 🇬🇧
Hi Gary, thanks for your support. I really appreciate your comment. This kind of scenes without vehicles are a little bit harder to design but in the end it turned out really well.
Outsanding work. Congratulations. I like it a lot. Best Regards.
Thanks for your support!
I really appreciate your comment
Beautifully painted figure heads! I for one would like to see you do video on how you painted the heads.
Thanks for your comment. Nice, that's an interesting video topic and to be honest face painting has been in my mind for too long. Maybe it's time to begin working...
Would love to see more figure painting step by steps
Actually, I'm thinking about to uploading a video fully focused on figures. Any preferences (face, uniforms,...)?
De militairen zijn schitterend!! Mooi werk!!
They turned out really good although these are 20 years old figures.
Thanks!
Brutal, Carlos!!!
Me alegra que te guste, Pachu!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Great video thanks for making it. I would like to see some step by step figure painting showing what paints and what mixes you used if you have the time . Your figures look very fantastic. Thanks for sharing.
Which one do you find more interesting?Uniforms or face painting?
Really glad you like the figures.
Both would be good if that's possible.
Very nice work!
Super thanks! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Wow Excellent work and detail work and a great scene
Thanks for your comment.
Really glad you like the building and painting result
Watching the commemoration now. Great timing ❤
Thanks!
I finally got the both projects, diorama and the video, on time for the anniversary
Excellent diorama
Super thanks! 🙌🏼🙌🏼💪🏻
Nice work
Thanks! Glad you like it! 💪🏻💪🏻
Appreciate all your tips on painting the figures, this will be a great guide when I get brave enough to try some.
Well, never it's too soon to make a project like this.
Lot of thanks for your comment
Those figures are amazing! Wonderful work!
Thanks! Hornet heads definitely improved the look of the figures.
Cheers
Very good work. I'm working on a d- day diorama now. It's been a challenge. You helped me out alot. Thanks
Thanks for your comment 🙌🏼. Really happy if this video helps you.
great eyes for details mate ! master class work ! bravo jy
Thanks, being a figure scene, I tried to give all my best to paint very expressive faces
Great work my friend. ¡Muy Bien!
The figure painting is top notch on this and i hope we never forget this amazing show of courage and bravery.
Lest we forget
Thanks for your comment.I had to make a greater push to the figures, cause the are the only characters there. Also painting 5 very similar figures it's not my cup of tea. But all in all I'm happy with the result.
About historic side, it's hard to believe this kind of facts took place, even not so long ago.
Adding the scratch detail really pays off, great work,👍
Thanks, that kind of details took more time than I expected. But in the end it's totally worth it.
Excellent paintwork on the figures. Very detailed and realistic. And then all well arranged in a great diorama scene.
A wonderful masterpiece and sure to be an eye-catcher at any exhibition. Great work, Carlos.
Best wishes, Joachim
Thanks, Joachim.
Creating a simplified scene with limited scenography elements allowed me to focuse better in the painting, using a very similar palette too. Also I tried to create a realistic scene, away from the movie appearances we all are used to.
The creating of a realistic scene was very successful executed. A representation that certainly stands out from the crowd. I wish you a nice weekend and further a good time. Greetings, Joachim
Excellent figure building🎉
Thanks! They needed a big effort for building and converting but I think the result is worth the price
Increíble ❤
Gracias. Me alegro que te guste
Work of Art. Figures are amazing...
Super thanks! It took some time to build a correct d day figure, but the result was really good
the skin painting skill is superb ! hope to see a video in the future on how to tackle it step by step. Thank you
I'm considering about to make a figure related video soon. What do you like more, uniforms or face painting?
@@notjustpanzer I think painting face is always challenging for hobbyist. So I will go with face 😁 thank you
@@notjustpanzer Both..
@@charlescollins5721 ooh that´s ambitious by the way! Let´s what I´m able to record during these weeks 🤔
Superb diorama, nice tribute...Many details to enjoy such as the footprints, congrats!
That's it! You really got all the small details
Thanks for your comment
That is a fantastic job. Patience is key to great work that I don't have myself. The last time I painted any figures was the base colour and then a wash which doesn't always work. I do have trouble painting faces and flesh tones. I use a wash again of light rust for shadows on faces. Again it doesn't work right. Great job on that diarama scene.👍🇭🇲🦘🐨✌️
Thanks for your comment!
In the past I tried the some of the techniques you say. But figures need to be painted with different techniques than scale models. Acrylic painting has to be excuted with more patience but results are really good.
@@notjustpanzer Agreed. Thanks for the paint lesson and I forgot to mention the individual work and result of each soldier is well executed. Nice work.👍🇭🇲🦘🐨✌️
very nice my friend !!!
Thanks for your comment!
As usual, it took more time than I had anticipated, but managed to complete it at all.
Cheers
@@notjustpanzer
the result is excellent!!! the figures are awesome

Brilliant progress 👍👍

Sabía que te iba a gustar. Muchas gracias por tu comentario
Everything is perfect 👍👍
Thanks! Really glad you like it 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Wow, looks really good.
Thanks! I needed more time that initially expected, but in the end I'm happy with the result.
@@notjustpanzer It’s also cool that you placed the log ramp facing in the right direction, especially when you consider that almost everyone uses the film Saving Private Ryan as source of information when studying D-Day which places the log ramps facing in the wrong direction.
Hahah, yes your are right.
I used capa's photos as one of my main sources for inspiration. So in that way there is no chance for that kind of mistakes.
Amazing job you did with the figures 👍
Thanks for your comment!
Really glad you like the painting result
@@notjustpanzer The diorama/base is also very nice done by the way. I like the setup of it.
GOOD JOB !!!! ❤👏👍
Super thanks! 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Bravo Sir!!!!
Thanks! 💪🏻💪🏻
MAXI LEVEL
🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
The second dragon figures are not a set for the "Omaha beach" and similar amphibian assault as the another box, that figures are created with the Pointe du Hoc assault to localize and destroy the 155mm canyons on a sea cliff a few hours before the D day operation. That is probably the reason of the more static poses.
And of course, amazing job with these sets, love the details and the overall work on the diorama.
Yes you're right. The fit better in a scene looking upwards. I bought them because I wanted to include some other figures to increase variation (also two of these rangers wear the assault vest, so they fit correctly for a 1st/29th infantrymen as well). But the main reason why I didn't use them it's due to their sculpting, in my opinion their level of detail is lower, 29th figures come more detailed. Also there is a noticeable size difference, ranger figures are taller.
@@notjustpanzer that's right, the dragon kit (are pre gen2) gen2 is a new sculpt details and variation of the old dragon models references. The gen2 on that reference only include a new sprue with new heads and weapons. The 29th figures are better on detail so far. It's a very detailed job you did here.
Superb 👍
Super thanks @CWModelling. I really appreciate your comment

Ahí, de los primeros comentarios, como Dios manda. Muchas gracias
Champions League 🏆🥇
Super thanks! 🙌🏼🙌🏼💪🏻
What colour Jaket parson?
Jacket color comes from a mix of russian uniform (Vallejo model color) and kakhi (game color). Every figure has a slightly different shade, but those are the main colours I used.
@@notjustpanzer
Perfecto
Yo mesclo russian vallejo + kakai vallejo thank you
Punta Arenas ,Chile.
Sie d aus wie in Der Soldat James Ryan.
Hahaha, obviously saving private Ryan movie is a good inspiring source.
Thanks for your comment
Admirable dioroma, unfortunately these brave young men fought for fallen valor, the world is worse off now than it was then. Their sacrifice was in vain
Thanks for your comment!
Really appreciated
Your comment was in vain. What a knob.
I hardly think defeating Nazism was in vain… nice diorama
YOU MADE THE AMERICAN SIDE, I WOULD MADE THE GERMAN SIDE
That's another idea as well.
This time I found the beach sand and obstacles environment a more attractive option.
