The day after Freddie died I was driving to first proper job in Bristol, SW England. They announced Freddie had died on the radio and played bohemian rhapsody and radio gaga back to back. I looked around at the traffic lights, and every one was singing along to the radio in time with a tear in their eye. Everyone. Radio had it's finest hour.......

@@BrotherChad It seems likely the Buggles' song inspired this to some extent, as it came out about 4 years before Roger Taylor wrote Radio Gaga and was also a big hit.
Roger Taylor was inspired to write this song by his son who was a toddler saying "radio caca" when he didn't like what he heard on the radio. Roger's common-law wife was French so their son spoke french. Caca means poo in french. If you listen carefully the first words of the chorus say "all we hear is radio caca". There is nothing wrong with crying it shows just how much you loved Freddie and the boys I'm a 70 year old man and I often cry when listening or watching great artists ❤❤
I remember the day Freddie died. The day prior, a press release confirmed his illness but no one was surprised, his fans knew. However, the next day came as a shock to me; I had taken the announcement that his health was failing but not that he was, quite literally, on his deathbed. The press was so cruel, what an evil, horrible way to earn a living. For me, Freddie's death amplified the pain the world had been going through for several years. He wasn't the first celebrated person to die of AIDS and he wasn't the last, but he and Queen were special in my life so Freddie's suffering touched me greatly. The turmoil of those years are difficult to put into words. Lives were slipping through our fingers and there was nothing to stop it; the afflicted were blamed for their own demise. Awful. RIP, dear Freddie and every other soul who suffered and died.
Like you saw in LiveAid the crowd responded to Freddie and the guys. So many performers can get large crowds to interact, but there was always something special about Freddie and Queen's relationship with their fans. Freddie didn't sing "to" the audience, he performed "for" them, and they knew it and gave back the same love multiplied by thousands.
I've just realised that I'm not the only person who cries listening to Freddie Mercury's voice. It really makes a hole in your heart and goes it through so sweetly, so sweetly
You can go down a huge rabbit hole of this song/live aid. Where it came in their career, MTV and “video killed the radio star”. It truly is a century of music and humanity coming to this moment. I’ve been obsessed for years with this 😂😂
Please don’t apologise for being emotional, Stacey. Freddie gave the world everything he had and he is missed by millions. I am a 56 year old surfer and I still cry when I see these images of him. He is keenly missed. Good on you for sharing your genuine feelings, Stacey. Few people are brave enough to cry in public.
Thanks for your reaction, Stacy. Truly heartbreaking is the Queen song "No one but you" by the rest of the band who wrote this song for Freddie. So emotional... but very tear-jerking.
The way i like to look at it is, Freddie gave it his all in his first appearance and his last. He was always giving us his best that he could whatever the situation.
One of my favorite Queen songs. The video uses footage from the epic and classic silent science fiction film “Metropolis”, directed by Fritz Lang. Lang had to create all of the visual effects from scratch since no one had done them before. He virtually wrote the book on how to do movie special effects.
Feel the emotion, sweet lady it goes way deep inside, i felt it, while watching queen live aid performance 1985 as a 14:yr teenager, then again while watching the end of the movie 🍿,just a few years ago, rest in peace Freddie Mercury....
Thank you for all your emotions and your tears. I'm a depressed man and I love to see that I'm not the only one crying over this song and so many other beautiful pieces of music.
We as queen fans to this day are all heart broken on the loss of Freddie. But the good thing is that people like yourself are Carrying on Freddie's memory to new generations and generations to come. Freddie is looking down from heaven with a big smile on his face R.I.P FREDDIE WE MISS YOU
Fun Fact: Lady Gaga favorite band is Queen and she created her name as a hommage to this song, as well as Queen. Also, this video is based upon the movie "Metropolis", a silent film from 1927. Every single movie that you've ever seen was inspired by this movie. It literally defined that approach to making movies throughout the 20th century. It's considered by many to be one the greatest films ever made. What is so timeless about that movie is, nearly more than 100 years later, it's only become more relevant.
Probably not the best timing in the world from Stacey saying "Wow magical and love it" as the video shows clips of Britain getting flattened during the blitz =(
I remember performing this song in front of around 100 people at a school concert. Everybody clapped to the "All we hear is **clap clap** Radio Ga Ga" part. It was incredible. Please let Queen's music forever be immortal. They are the greatest band in the history of music, in my opinion respectively.
Roger wrote this one. He often wrote songs about youth and nostalgia like "These are the days of our lives" or the hidden gem "drowse" in which he sings lead
This band was on another level of brilliant. His voice stage presence was tuely powerfull. This song does bring out emotions in people it does with me and this song never grows old.
The whole Highlander movie is worth watching just for the soundtrack by Queen. The album is "A Kind of Magic". It has "Who Wants to Live Forever", "One Year of Love", "I Want it All", "A Kind of Magic", "One Vision"... being a movie score it's somehow different from other works but it also showcases how versatile they were.
I want it all was much later but epic song....highlander is still easily one of the most creative films ever with the best cast. Deffo worth watching. Who wants to live forever is easily one of the best songs ever
@@ianjonas7380The album is A Kind of Magic, and while it's sort of the soundtrack of Highlander, not all songs are in the movie. One vision is actually track 1 of the album. But yeah it was used in Iron Eagle, and was not featured in Highlander.
Who wants to live forever is my favourite Queen song of all time so I'm really hoping that Stacey covers it with a reaction video although I'm not sure if she would be able to make it to the end of the song without losing it completely.😢
It will absolutely break your heart but you should listen to Queen's "The Show Must Go On." Freddie was pretty ill by the time they recorded it, but from what I've read despite being very sick he came into the studio and nailed it in one take and it is his absolute life statement. "Bohemian Rhapsody" may be Queen's masterpiece but "the show must go on" was Freddy's mission statement. It is an absolute tour de Force. And a somewhat related song by Rush "Nobody's Hero" the first verse of which is a reference to Freddy and which is a terrific song in it's own right.
This is my favorite Queen song. I love the bass and synth in the background and the reminiscent, melancholy-ish atmosphere. Again, Lady Gaga said she got her name from this song.
Thank you so much for all your reactions to QUEEN my favourite band since I was a Child . I'm from Chile , southamerica 🇨🇱 I loved your reactons to Pink Floyd too. 😊
You made me emotional, Queen was my life growing up, my hope , my emotions and my escape. .,but I have nothing but positive memories with queen ,..so much more than a band an entity of unity,…he will live forever.
Great inventive music video for it's time. There is still so much more Queen music yet to discover. I think you are in love with Freddie's crystalline voice. He is one of the greatest of all rock singers to me. But for a simple whimsical rock video, I'm surprised you were touched by it. ...Hormones maybe?🎶🙂Or just a total empath....Wait till you hear "Bijou" and "The Show Must Go On' ...👑🎼🎶
i miss Freddie and David (Bowie). feel lucky to have experienced what i did from them both before their passings. loved the emotion, felt like i wasnt alone. good vibes to everybody.
i think what makes this song so overwhelming is that there's an unspoken connotation of family, home. "someone still loves you" is not only a nostalgic look back at the times when radio was technically the state of the art for information and entertainment, and teenage years experience. it's also a reference to a radio being the center of a family gathering - with a special nod to the important role radio played for our parents and grandparents (in the 1980s) during war times.
It’s so much fun to watch you learning the many reasons WHY Queen’s LiveAid set is WIDELY considered the greatest set in rock history. Your tastes are spot-on. Keep on keeping on!
Even the very best music we have today is not anywhere close to on this level. It is insane the level of talent that we lost when did Freddie Mercury died. The brilliance of just the note choices and the simple but percectly arranged chords and how it's all orchestrated together is just so above and beyond genius level.
I knew you were going to be taken aback when you saw the hand clapping scene for the first time, then suddenly understood why the audience at Live Aid responded in that way.
the visuals are based on the old b&w movie "metropolis" the lyrics are freddy reminiscing fondly about the time before TV, when people would listen to the radio and get all their information and entertainment from it. the magic of radio was that you had to use your imagination and form the images from what you heard. at the same time, he is lamenting the fact that radio was losing its original sense of wonder, and became more controlled by corporate entities that commercialized and dumbed-down the music for wider audiences, making it more rote and less emotional. families don't crowd around a big radio in the living room anymore. it's a less-intimate experience now.
I literally grew up with the music of Queen, from Killer Queen till These Are The Days. I wasn't a very big fan in my youth but I always loved their song 'Save Me" , só beautiful, you should react to that one, it's from 1981. Anyways, you really know what you're missing when it's gone and that's with this great band and great singer and performer Freddy was. I'm 53 now but my I still can't keep my eyes dry when listening to some of their songs and especially now when you got emotional, wow, you got me there🥲
There is a nice story behind the making of the song. Roger Taylor was inspired to write it when his young heard a bad song on the radio and called it "radio ca ca". He worked on it in the studio as a solo song, and Freddie Mercury heard it and thought it would be a hit. Then the whole band got into it and there it is.
This song sounds so nostalgic! Of course, it was a part of my childhood so it literally is for me lol, but it also just sounds so soft and the fact that it's a reflection of the past while commenting on how times change makes it so good. Lovely reaction!
Plus Lady Gaga named herself from this song ! Good reaction. Also, it depicted World War 2, where the radio was so important, informing families of what was happening in the war.
My first concert back in 1977 was Queen in Madison Square Garden. I've always loved Queen the band is GREAT! Freddie's voice cuts right through the heart and ones you feel his voice you never can forget how beautiful it is. Cry hon we all did and still do now and then. Great reaction Stacey. Cheers.
You got more out of this song and the video than a majority of other reacts that have that watched Live Aid and the video. Queen has been a solid part of my life for as long as I can remember, and this is the Freddie I chose to remember. Yes we lost a major talent too soon but his legend and legacy will live forever!
I remember sitting alone in a flat in a unfamiliar city 15 years old, first year at what you call high school in the US, getting the message he had died. It was so sad. Put on the show must go on and struggling with midty eyes the rest og the evening. Realising i was never going to experience a Wembley concert which was my big dream, didnt make it any better. Fxxxng cancer.
Never a need to apologize, Freddie had a energy and passion about him that mortal man can not explain! I've watched Freddie thousands of times and I still get goose bumps and I can't hold back the bitter sweet tears. Us Queenies know all to well those feelings are about. A pure legend 🌈💙🫶👑🕊
This song meant a lot when it came out because at that time Radio was being taken by TV videos. We were so young and were listening to the radio every day and the song lyrics really hit us. This song was a big hit for us during high school time. Until today Radio is our best friend. Thank you Queen for all the good times.
For some reason I love how you are so emotional, and divine at the same time, and how you define your emotions. I was like that when I heard this song like 20 years ago when I was a kid. Now I`m 32. Queen is a wonderful band, maybe the best ever, for me the best ever. And there`s a lot for you to discover for Queen, a lot of songs. About the song , Roger wrote the song, his son was his inspiration. Lyrics are focused on Radio, how the radio was popular item in most houses, but now it`s not, but it will become popular again. But radio is just a metaphor. This song could be about everything, like the better times will come. So I view the song as an optimistic one. :)
Wow, Stacey. I'm so grateful that you share your emotional journey of discovery with us. You make me relive songs that I've known for 10, 20, 30, 40 years, as if I were hearing them for the first time. Thank you for your amazing channel!
We all have times we get emotional watching Freddie. He always seemed larger than life. Having grown up with Queen his death hit me hard, the world was a better place with him in it. 👑

I absolutely love all of your reactions to Queen and Freddie, you so sweet❤. You actually express exactly how I feel about Queen and Freddie. I think that you would really like ‘You Take My Breath Away’ live Hyde Park 1976. Also…. ‘Liar’ live at the Rainbow 1974….. just to start off with some of their earlier songs. Then you will have so, so much more Queen to experience….I will follow you all of the way. Thank you 💕
LOVED YOUR REACTION TO QUEEN, AND LOVED YOUR REACTION TO "LIVE AID" DID YOU KNOW THAT THERE IS EXTRA LITTLE EXTRA AT THE END, FREDDIE & BRIAN DO A EXTRA SONG "IS THIS THE WORLD WE CREATED" 😁
I saw them on The Works tour in 1985 in Sydney Australia, as usual Freddy had the ~14K crowd eating out of the palms of his hand. When they got to this song, the whole crowd knew what was expected and we delivered.
I agree with every word of yours. This is literally what I feel every time I see and hear Queen. So complicated, so sophisticated - and at the same time so clear and inspiring... 👏👏👏💓
STACEY, FYI… Just this week, Queen Official released a NEW official music video for one of their earlier songs: “WHEN THE NIGHT COMES DOWN” ….When you get into Freddie’s OPERATIC Barcelona album with Montserrat Caballé (nickname Montsey): That’s when you’re hit with what an extraordinary, wide-ranged, raw TALENT Freddie was… and how much was LOST …how much future music and creativity.😴
This is the first Queen song I ever hear when my mother bought their works album in1984 and is the opening song. Queen started my music journey, never looked back since, especially when learning to play drums by listening to Queens songs incessantly. Radio GaGa was so much fun to learn. Roger Taylor was my inspiration to pick up the sticks.
I saw Queen on stage 1982 in Göteborg, Sweden. Already knew everything about them, but was still totally blown away. Their musicality, diversity and presence!
It's so nice to see you grow as a human being by listening to those great songs. Simply beautiful. It's like reliving those experiences from our past, when we discovered them.
Your tears are so beautiful and so pure! When you thank Freddie I can almost see him laughing, smiling, and saying "You're welcome, darling!". It's hard to hold back emotion listening to that record. The arrangement is all about good music trying to survive. The bright piano, the bass sounding fretless (I think it's not, but it sounds like it), and the slide guitar, all cover up that all-electronic sound of the intro, which symbolizes the direction pop music was taking. Things were getting artificial and somehow it was not all about music anymore.
I can't help imagining how much Stacey will cry when she reacts to "Show must go on", knowing it was the last Queen's hit recorded by Freddie, who never had the chance to sing it live because, according to what some people said, by that time, he was very ill and weak, and that it meant exactly what its title says: he (Freddie) was leaving us, leaving this world, but...show must go on! And this is so true that we have nowadays Queen (Brian May and Roger Taylor - John Deacon "retired" when Freddie passed away) performing live with mr. Lambert on vocals. Of course, not even close a "new Freddie", but I think he's been doing a good job.
Not only has it always been my favorite queen song, but the lyrics in the chorus mean the most of any song in the world to m e. "You had your time, you had the power, You've yet to have your finest hour" (Although he is talking about Radio becoming obsolete, It feels very much towards struggling to get noticed for everything I have done, but I wont give up, my time will come)
Don’t let Stacey watch "These are the days of our lives" because we’re going to lose her in a sea of tears.
I had that tune played at my Dads Celebration Of Life ceremony, when he passed. So moving
Still breaks my heart watching that video. She'll be a complete mess by the ending of the video

Don't be sorry for "losing it". This emotionality is what connects us.
Hey girl always down for Queen. The show must go on is a must my friend. Freddie is the best front man ever ❤️ Great reaction and Peace out ✌️ ☮️ 🙏
Thanks for your reaction, Stacy. Truly heartbreaking is the Queen song "No one but you" by the rest of the band who wrote this song for Freddie. So emotional... but very tear-jerking.
True art makes people cry
But the good thing is that people like yourself are
Carrying on Freddie's memory
to new generations and generations to come. Freddie is looking down from heaven with a big smile on his face
R.I.P FREDDIE WE MISS YOU
Fun Fact: Lady Gaga favorite band is Queen and she created her name as a hommage to this song, as well as Queen.
Also, this video is based upon the movie "Metropolis", a silent film from 1927. Every single movie that you've ever seen was inspired by this movie. It literally defined that approach to making movies throughout the 20th century. It's considered by many to be one the greatest films ever made. What is so timeless about that movie is, nearly more than 100 years later, it's only become more relevant.
large parts of that movie were feared lost until an unknown copy was discovered in 2006. There is still about 5% of it missing.
Stacey you have so many kindred spirits in your enjoyment and appreciation of Freddie and Queen.
Roger wrote this one. He often wrote songs about youth and nostalgia like "These are the days of our lives" or the hidden gem "drowse" in which he sings lead
This is my favorite song by queen! It perfectly encapsulates the vibe of the 80s
So nice to see you feel that too!
The atmosphere of nostalgia gets me every time.
This band was on another level of brilliant. His voice stage presence was tuely powerfull. This song does bring out emotions in people it does with me and this song never grows old.
It's ok. I'm crying too.
Sometimes I do hear Queen on the radio when I'm busy with something and I stop, and the tears come. And I cant stop them.
We hooked up a 100watt stereo system (with 18" speakers) to our t.v. so that we could hear and see this song on MTV way back when.
I want my MTV!!!
Stacey, it's lovely you to see you so emotional over such a great singer. Freddie we miss you.. you brought such joy to so many people. R.I.P.
It was a tribute song to "over the air radio" when MTV was at it's height and video seemed to rule the musical world.
I really miss the 80s when I hear this song. It was such a musical journey during that era!!
One Vision is from the movie Iron Eagle
I definitely second this motion! One of my favourite queen songs.
When you cry I also cry...You have a big big heart!!! Thanks we have people like you in this planet.
This song was written by Roger Taylor the drummer when he heard his young child saying "radio ca ca"
i think what makes this song so overwhelming is that there's an unspoken connotation of family, home.
Thank you Stacey for your emotional honesty, we can see this song truly moves and touches your heartstrings
What a beautiful reaction Stacey..."Under Pressure" live at Wembley is a must..it's superb...🇬🇧
I knew you were going to be taken aback when you saw the hand clapping scene for the first time, then suddenly understood why the audience at Live Aid responded in that way.
the visuals are based on the old b&w movie "metropolis"
the lyrics are freddy reminiscing fondly about the time before TV, when people would listen to the radio and get all their information and entertainment from it.
the magic of radio was that you had to use your imagination and form the images from what you heard.
at the same time, he is lamenting the fact that radio was losing its original sense of wonder, and became more controlled by corporate entities that commercialized and dumbed-down the music for wider audiences, making it more rote and less emotional.
families don't crowd around a big radio in the living room anymore.
it's a less-intimate experience now.
I was going to say that! Memories of a tinny transistor radio searching for pop music..🇬🇧
Queen’s concert’s we’re definitely an experience. I saw them at age 17 in 1977 in Toronto at Maple leaf Gardens amazing!
I love that you have found all the good music fram the past. I can see it touches your heart and I love to see that.
This song meant a lot when it came out because at that time Radio was being taken by TV videos. We were so young and were listening to the radio every day and the song lyrics really hit us. This song was a big hit for us during high school time. Until today Radio is our best friend. Thank you Queen for all the good times.
You should watch his memorial concert, you will see how many artists loved Freddie and Queen. Get a box of tissues ready you will need them. ❤
Every crowd that Freddie performed this song in front of, knew exactly what to do during the chorus. Freddie will always be the G.O.A.T. ❤
We all have times we get emotional watching Freddie. He always seemed larger than life. Having grown up with Queen his death hit me hard, the world was a better place with him in it. 👑
I`m not crying 😢😢😢
this song is a warning to not let 'real music die' but unfortunately we have almost lost it all
We watch the shows, we watch the stars
On videos for hours and hours
We hardly need to use our ears
How music changes through the years
Let's hope you never leave, old friend
Like all good things on you we depend
So, stick around 'cause we might miss you
When we grow tired of all this visual
Dont say sorry because your reaction, tears. Freddie and the boys its want, emotion bring up. And after all these year their song still doing. Fantastic.
"Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened."
Nice reaction. You do know you are an empathic. I bet you get emotional for everything important to you, especially the happy times.
Stacey! Stacey!! Stacey!!!!! When you say Queen can do anything you are far more right than you know! When you dig deep into their catalogue you will find their capacity to surprise you is astounding!! Just wait . . . . . . .
I'd sit alone and watch your light
My only friend through teenage nights
And everything I had to know
I heard it on my radio
You gave them all those old-time stars
Through wars of worlds, invaded by Mars
You made 'em laugh, you made 'em cry
You made us feel like we could fly (Radio)
So don't become some background noise
A backdrop for the girls and boys
Who just don't know, or just don't care
And just complain when you're not there
[Pre-Chorus]
You had your time, you had the power
You've yet to have your finest hour
Radio (Radio)
[Chorus]
All we hear is radio ga ga
Radio goo goo

All we hear is radio ga ga

I love what you said: "my Queen era is today, the present day". That's definitely what everyone should be able to understand. Music is timeless. I suggest you to react to "Is this the world we created?" and "It's a hard life", both from "The Works" album. Thank you for your videos.
You're crying ,I 'm crying, we're all crying...thanks ,Stacey...love the reaction, you know how hard it is to type through tears...Todd from Ohio...❤❤❤
STACEY,
FYI… Just this week, Queen Official released a NEW official music video for one of their earlier songs:
“WHEN THE NIGHT COMES DOWN”
….When you get into Freddie’s OPERATIC Barcelona album with Montserrat Caballé (nickname Montsey):
That’s when you’re hit with what an extraordinary, wide-ranged, raw TALENT Freddie was… and how much was LOST …how much future music and creativity.😴
Nice going Stacey! Keep ut the good work! 👍 Everyone that has listened to Queen, will shed a tear when they hear Freddies voice!
Queen presented in Brazil (my country), and Freddy, and all Queen loved the reaction and appreciation of the Brazilian audience.
