Very lucky. It is such a famous performance. I get he impression people had forgotten how good they were and saw this, as Live Aid was broadcast everywhere, and reminded people they were a fantastic band.

A record producer was watching from a bar in NY and he said people in the bar were raising there hands and clapping, he thought at that time "this is their show now."
This is widely considered THE greatest concert in history, and Freddie Mercury is well known as the greatest front man in history. So watch the whole Live Aid set by Queen, it's the best of the best.
Watch the real Live Aid from Queen, then watch the scene from the biopic movie. Malek and the cinematography did an amazing job recreating this concert.

Queen's performance at the Live Aid concert is considered to be the BEST 20 MINUTES of Rock N Roll ever! Freddie fronted for a fantastic band. All members contributed to their collection of hits!
This is my favorite Queen song. It speaks to me & my childhood. All the days & nights I had in front of the radio. They were so informative on my upbringing.

This is the song that tells the story of my life...at night in bed I listened to the radio and there I met my love, Queen....Thanks to the group's drummer Roger Taylor for this wonderful song. Thanks Roger, it's my favorite song. Radio makes you laugh, cry, and even make you fly.
The impressive thing about this is that this was an event that featured more bands yet everyone in that stadium was hooked on Queen. Really wish I could travel time and see it live
This song is about the time when we went from radio being everything for music, to when music BLEW UP on video (MTV) for the first time. I was there (and then) when it happened. It was absolutely awesome. Imagine if EVERYTHING you ever knew about music was on the radio. and then all of a sudden, music BLEW UP on TV for the first time. Back then, MTV was sooooo awesome. It was ALL the original (brand new for us) videos for all these bands NONSTOP on the channel and the original VJs (video jockeys) like Martha Quinn, Adam Currey, JJ Jackson, Nina Blackwood, Mark (I forget his last name), etc... would come on the channel after a bunch of videos and explain to us all about these "new" bands and their songs, etc... It was ALL new and amazing for us at the time. Trust me, my entire generation was addicted to MTV... Kind of like when social media became a brand new thing and everyone took to it. Same thing, back then with MTV. Anyhow, back to my original point... I believe this song was Freddie consoling the radio saying "someone still loves you" (in the song) because radio was left in the DUST when video came out. Side note... The very FIRST song/music video on MTV was called "Video killed the radio star" by the group "The Buggles". As you can figure out by the title of the song, the radio stars were "killed" bc it was ALL about music videos now (not just the audio of the song). So the VISUAL aspect was now VERY important suddenly and the existing radio stars either jumped on board with this huge change, or they were history. That's my thesis paper on this song. Lol. Freddie was one of the greatest showmen to walk the stage. Also had probably the best voice in rock history. I don’t know how Brad can’t understand what Freddie was singing. Clear voice, great enunciation and projection…
I was already a huge Queen fan, but watching this performance live on tv solidified their greatness for me! It gives me the feel good chills every time seeing the crowd react to Freddy!
The thing about Freddie is he draws you in, he's adorable, very charismatic. A music critic once said Freddie was like a beautiful peacock strutting across the stage. Great reaction.
At one point they all were kinda dressed up on stage - then it just became his thing as his physical stage presence evolved. A shame because so often people neglect to notice the rest of the band because of it.
@@mnomadvfx I feel Freddie realized that the camera was always following him, he started moving to each band member. Freddie would go over to Brian, then Roger, and over to John. But you're right, Freddie was the one up front, he had to capture the audience, Freddie had a big weight on his shoulders really, but the band members knew he was the one all eyes were on and appreciated him.

YOU NEED TO REACT TO THE FULL SET OF THIS LIVE PERFORMANCE!!! IT WAS LIVE AID 1985 WHERE HE PERFORMED THIS ALONG WITH A FEW OTHER SONGS AND IT OFTEN IS CONSIDERED THE GREATEST LIVE ROCK PERFORMANCE OF ALL TIME!!!
I went to Live Aid it two weeks before my 16th birthday and is one of the greatest days of my life. I was meant to see Queen a year later but my wife (the girlfriend) had her bag snatched on the way to the gig and we never got to go.
I had the pleasure of seeing Queen twice in 1976 and 1977 at MSG and they were fantastic, Freddie R.I.P. was the finest frontman in Rock!! I have been going to see concerts since 1975 to the present time and both of these Queen shows were in my top ten concerts ever…
Queen brings me such happy memories because I always associate queen with hearing them through baseball stadium speakers as a kid with my dad. As I grew older I grew a appreciation for how big of a impact Freddy and Queen had on music in general absolute Legends even though people have watered down that word now but Freddy and Queen are Legends in music and pop culture history
There was a famous interview in Queens early days the journalist asked band members which instrument they played, when he asked Freddie he replied in his usual style with " the audience darling"
I was blessed to see Queen in concert back in the summer of 1980 at the Baltimore Civic Center. It is still one of "those" concerts that I will never forget.
Please the whole Live Aid set!!!! 🙌🙌 I would love you to look into some lyrics from Queen songs. Some of the songs are very deep and have strong lyrics. That’s why I love them, they made many great performances but also made in depth music. If you’ve reacted the whole Live Aid i really suggest One Vision live at Wembley or Who wants to live forever live at Budapest. Much bless darlings
This concert was July of 1985 - I was 15 and staying at my grandparents farm in upstate NY. It's hard to explain how huge this concert was, the entire world tuned in for the whole day. Listening to this on a little transistor radio with headphones in the middle of a field - and it was thrilling then, half a world away in the middle of a field on shitty radio. I can't imagine how it must've been to be there. It was history. Every time I see this I get chills.. every, damn, time. Glad you enjoyed this. ;)
Once you fall in love with Queen there’s no band that even remotely compares to them..they were simply the best, still are. Freddie you’re deeply missed ❤️
I hope you guys react to this whole concert at Live AId. It is considered the greatest 21 minutes in the history of rock and roll. Then Brad you can fully understand the power that Freddie Mercury had when he had an audience. A quote from Freddie, when asked "Freddie what is your favorite instrument to play?" he replied "The crowd, darling".
Yeah, you kind of have to see the full performance. I was not a Queen fan at the time, I was more into punk and industrial but when I saw this broadcast live I was converted and know have to concede that this is the greatest live performance EVER.
as a AC/DC and Van Halen fan, I have to say Freddie was the greatest front man in rock. Nothing then or today compares to his stage presence and hold on a audience
I heard this over a radio. It was playing in a high school hallway and everyone stopped to listen. I was VERY late to class that day and got detention. Totally worth it. :)
My goodness, Queen's entire Live Aid set was probably one of the best concerts ever performed. Im with Lex. How amazing it would be to be in the crowd at what is most definitely a magical experience.
I wasn't there for this but I saw this great band the year before, and in 1980 and 1982 when they were at the peak of their powers. It was a special experience to see them with Freddie commanding the stage.

Freddy’s always one of those artists that plugs directly into your soul when he makes the decision to do so!
So surprised you can't understand what he's singing. His pronunciation is immaculate from his boarding school upbringing. Always incredibly precise. You should watch the whole Live Aid set. And Lex is right THE MOST. No comparison. This is the first time this song was performed live and the audience knew what to do from the video and surprised Queen with their perfect participation :)
Lady Gaga got her name from this song.
One of the most iconic performances from one of the greatest front men to ever grace a stage
now you have seen a snippet of their LIVE AID set. watch the complete set it was possibly the best set of the concert.
What Freddie likes most when to perform is
When people sing with him, that's the most passionate thing Freddie is when it comes to consert
Live Aid. IMO, this was his greatest performance.
In my opinion, quite arguably the greatest live performance of any song ever!!!
Freddie is such an icon truly amazing and so talented.
That performance at live aid put queen into the stratosphere!
Glad you enjoyed this. ;)
Widely considered the BEST live set ever played!
Forget the lyrics for now, Brad. Just enjoy the performance. You can always read the lyrics later on line. You'll get it.
One of a kind.
RIP
And that audience there was not even Queen audience. Freddie just stole their hearts the second he showed up!
as a AC/DC and Van Halen fan, I have to say Freddie was the greatest front man in rock. Nothing then or today compares to his stage presence and hold on a audience
You guys always put a smile on my face! Thank you.
