a million years ago i walked up to lou before a sebadoh show and told him he had written the soundtrack of my life. the look of disappointment and mild disgust on his face as he turned and walked away has stuck with me for almost 20 years. cool video.
My Dinosaur/Sebadoh fandom peaked way back when opportunities to hear 'underground' musicians speak were rare. It's cool to belatedly see such a thing, especially talking about other people's music. The idiosyncratic personal/regional history picks were fascinating. It's also time I dug out that Folk Implosion record!
2:54- I haven't heard the song in a million years and it was always one of my favorites but I never knew who the band or the name of the song was. Thanks Lou!!
I went to Amoeba records in LA when we were on holiday there - and bought a T-shirt and a couple of 7inches. That was 10years ago, I understand it is not there anymore?
Lou joined in at our 40 people chalet party jam at ATP festival a few weeks ago.. and rocked. Had Har Mar there too. Lou played a bass, took off one string, went under the table and rocked out for a few hours :) top marks.
Holy what? YOU are Lou Barlow? I pretty much worshiped you when I was young at college. Well, to be fair, you and a shitton of other musicians. I assumed, for no particular reason that you were dead. Legit "Smash Your Head on the Punk Rock" was the best thing ever.
He probably heard Blotto on WCCH from Holyoke (maybe WSKB in Westfield) because when I was at the radio station we had a couple of DJ s who played it to death... the Elevators... hah... everyone in Western Mass was given a complimentary copy when they ordered a Fribble at Friendlys
I’ve been looking for white noise- an electric storm for like two decades now. But it’s hard to find. Probably because I work, make music, and lay on floor.

Wow.. Why would he do that?
@@tangoamiyumi8932 after the dino jr breakup he was known to be bitter, j mascis and murph were also the same way but they grew and changed
Not my experience with Lou at all.
@@stevegilmore2093 well, no, of course not, I was specifically describing my experience.
@@ogami1972 He was extremely nice and friendly when I saw Dinosaur Jr couple months ago.
Sebadoh is still such an underrated, amazing band. Bubble and Scrape, Bakesale, Harmacy, all great albums.
I agree 100%. I've been jamming those three over and over the past two weeks
III is Fantastic as well
I agree I think Harmacy is great too. I wish Lou would give it more credit.
III is my favourite
I think Sebadoh III is still pretty good
Buying his own record was the hilarious moment for sure.

Somebody giving BLOTTO their due!

I have that Folk Implosion album on vinyl and I got it at that very Amoeba. Lucky me.
Thank you, Lou. God bless.
Lou Barlow is awesome. Sebadoh is such a great band.
This just validates that me and Lou are soulmates.
god i miss the old folk implosion, and so impressed he chose a record of Evergreen, one of my favorite completely unknown bands.
I checked out that Evergreen record , am now hooked on it
Dougs World your comments really old but yeah......it really slaps.
remember listening to evergreen when i was a kid. a great louisville band.
lou chose a ty segall record, fuck yes
Peter Schilling is who sings Major Tom. I accidentally bought that first Folk Implosion record while i was looking for The Fall, dont ask.
lou barlow never disappoints me ♥. but sebadoh > folk implosion
Kids! check out that Folk Implosion cd very awesome . Loved it, great songs the feel and sound is magic. good good stuff.
Listen to Folk Implosion on the Kids soundtrack, skip Kids though. Woof.
Lou is great. He showed me the chords to Magnet's Coil after a show in Detroit, Bakesale tour. (while he was packing up his own gear)
Lou Barlow !! A great musician I literally consumed the Sebadoh records
Ah delighted to see Lou bigging up UMO’s first album! Respect!
2:54- I haven't heard the song in a million years and it was always one of my favorites but I never knew who the band or the name of the song was. Thanks Lou!!
the song name is shut up asbestos
Blotto is from my area. They’re from Albany NY. I played a couple gigs with the keyboardist with my dad’s band. Really nice guy.
The first song played in the video is License To Confuse by Sebadoh

Blotto, what a great pick!!!
ive been waiting for this ! thanks !
It's Bankrupt! by the band Phoenix.
The first UMO album is a master piece.
Blotto's "I wanna be a lifeguard" got a lot of play on very early MTV
I went to Amoeba records in LA when we were on holiday there - and bought a T-shirt and a couple of 7inches. That was 10years ago, I understand it is not there anymore?
Major Tom 'völlig losgelöst'?? OMG, I was 11 at the time. Memories of sports class in primary school! :D
Bubble and Scrape is one of the greatest break up, lost love records ever.
Soul and Fire

Happily Divided
Louuuuuu! That UMO record is excellent
The second artist he picked is something to check out for sure :D
For some reason, his Ty Segall and Unknown Mortal Orchestra picks really excited me.
The coincidence that I was actually listening to Unknown Mortal Orchestra right when he mentioned it.
Awesome, thanks!
my second favorite musician named Lou
Lou💕💕💕💕💕Barlow 💕💕💕💕
He choose pretty "softy music" considering he plays in of one of the loudest bands in the world!
Sebadoh,great live!
Lou joined in at our 40 people chalet party jam at ATP festival a few weeks ago.. and rocked. Had Har Mar there too. Lou played a bass, took off one string, went under the table and rocked out for a few hours :)
top marks.

Now we just need Murph to do a WIMB? segment.
Really happy he got the ty singles.
Dude, that means Lou is too cool for school! Another reason for why Lou didn't go to college.
Blotto also did a tune called "Metal Head" from that record. They were a MTV fave in the beginning.
Cool!
Update: the folk implosion is active again as of 2021!
Bakesale is one of my favorite albums of all time
The Folk Implosion album is a belter
Classic
He probably heard Blotto on WCCH from Holyoke (maybe WSKB in Westfield) because when I was at the radio station we had a couple of DJ s who played it to death... the Elevators... hah... everyone in Western Mass was given a complimentary copy when they ordered a Fribble at Friendlys
Lou Barlow seems like a really nice bloke.
I've met him a few times over the years....and he is.
Lou was at and played some songs at my brother's wedding
I’ve been looking for white noise- an electric storm for like two decades now. But it’s hard to find. Probably because I work, make music, and lay on floor.
Very cool person

Should’ve got Nevermind
Whip City pride worldwide
Ok nice, NOW WE NEED JAKEROCK AKA JASON LOEWENSTEIN ON THIS SHOW!
"Pick out the most obscure shit you can and put it in your bag."
"I've never heard of it, so it must be obscure."
Gosh, I am German and I hate Major Tom
not bad but still terrible
