Just love the way Nancy plays so rhythmically, it just oozes out from within her soul, and Anne still makes the hair on the back of my neck quiver when she hits those notes. Thank you Heart, you are still one of the greatest rock bands ever.
And at over sixty years old she can still hit every note like she did as a kid and her voice has gotten better with age. and her little sister can still do that high kick.
i know i'm late to the party - i saw heart around 2008, and they were hands down the best live band i've ever seen. i was blown away by the power of ann wilson's voice and nancy wilson's guitar riffs. on a hot summer night, i had goosebumps during their entire performance.
Saw Ann and Nancy in December 1978 and saw them again in September 2019. Love them both and the show was just like I remember them so many years ago. I cried when they sang Stairway to Heaven...my favorite song, sang by my favorite band!!
In late 70s I visited Ann's house a few times... new girl I met introduced me to her ! Once sat in her backyard around a fire pit with some neighbors and friends just singin' Beatle songs and such. That VOICE !!! She made my hair move.
@@pauldoerwang4879 Heart started as a Led Zep coverband. I saw them around the time they released their first single as the opening act for Nazareth, poor Nazareth. Heart was so new and powerful and different, it was the first time I saw a guitarist use a violin bow on a guitar. Around the same time German TV started the legendary program "Rockpalast" .
Ann Wilson and Pat Benatar were two of my favorites from back in the day. The music is still relevant. So many women in rock that were and are, I could go on and on. This was a great performance.
Early Heart is the best. Nancy is awesome and no one will ever sing like Ann again. Glad you're not completely classical. I learned singing in a cappella choir. I know exactly what you're talking about. Excellent teaching! Thanks!
Not much to react with here is there? Ann Wilson "Queen of Rock," doing what she does best... The song came out in what, '76. Still as relevant today, 40 plus years later. That's talent, and that's the untouchable Ann Wilson.
Really cool part about videos like this is seeing how so many younger people love what we were fortunate to have lived through. Especially the MTV generation.
Ron Bertka I dig this comment. I’m 23, grew up with Heart because of my mom pretty much since the womb. Just got to seem them play live last month for the first time, my mom’s only seem them 3 times. These women are true inspirations; I love for watching these oldies videos because this is where they began, this was their prime. @@moogledoodles I love that you have been able to see them live. Plus you get the benefit of bonding as an adult with her, which is so different than when you were younger
Ron Bertka Thank you for your kind words! And don’t get my mom wrong, her teaching me about Heart came along with many other bands that I love to this day. She calls me her lil rock n roll baby lol. Just brings sadness to my heart to know there’ll never be artists like this for my generation. The world loves to favor artificial technology over raw talent.
I saw them on this tour, for their album "Little Queen", at Convention Hall on the boardwalk in Asbury Park, NJ August 16th 1977. For their encore they did Zeppelins "Rock n Roll" and dedicated it to the King, as Elvis ahd passed away earlier that day. Amazing show!
Heart.. my high school crush band.. I dated a boy in HS who loved Heart.. we listened endlessly to Heart.. esp to Dog and Butterfly.. in his Camaro.. and the world was a good place. Nancy- Incredibly great rhythm guitarist, one of the best again, male or female. And a great singer in her own right. I suggest a video reacting to Deep Purple and Ian Gillan's phenomenal singing.
Ann and Nancy actually sound very much alike which is why the harmony is so good,, It’s just Ann has a much greater range in all directions..so Nancy compliments her..
Nancy Wilson was an average guitarist at best in the rock world. She was touted as being great because she was female. I appreciate all the work she has done and it has been spectacular. However, there are a plethora of "female guitarists," that possess far more skill, technique, and feel. It seems reasonable to stay away from comparing people one to another because, what one thinks is great, another thinks different.
However, she's not underrated. Any rock guitarist knows well her talent and style. And you can certainly remove the "female" part of that. She is one of the greatest rock guitarists. Period.
