She’s certainly the most versatile and there’s no one who is a better storyteller.
Yes and I enjoy listening to her. I won’t compare song writing skills because AJ hasn’t put forward many of her own songs yet (although the few she has written are very good). Her story telling is on another level in my opinion. She has turned songs by Adele, Rhianna, Lana Del Ray, even Elvis’s Suspicious Minds and made them so much more! Listen to her version of Wicked Minds or California Dreaming and you get more examples of her ability to bring out the meaning and emotions of the lyrics. She reminds me of Sinatra in that way and that’s the greatest compliment I can ever make. 😀 But the beauty of music is that no two songs or performances will be the same for everyone. I think music lovers are so very lucky for that.

Hi Valerie. Yes it's her Granny Meri. There's a sort of debate among us Angels about the meaning of the lyrics. Some say it's about her Grandpa, some a difficult relashionship. Some, including me, think she's addressing LOVE itself meant as an Entity, whishing It had a human form she could directly talk to. Some lyrics avail this option. The title:" Love don't let me go ". Try this:" LOVE don't abandon me ". I believe you've reacted to Angelina performing Valerie on the Santa Monica beach. Just a few months ago Heidi Klumm ( Angelina's golden buzzer mama, they're pals) invited Angelina to the GNTM ( Germany Next Top Model) where, among others, she did Valerie. The brilliance of the song is that it can apply to a break up situation or the loss of someone through death, which is where I believe she got her inspiration. Her grandmother's presence in the video supports this interpretation as it represents a moving forward with life following the passing of her husband.
I struggle with the idea you would want to erase the memory (trace) of someone you love and lost.
@@dojoswitzerI agree with you. I've lost most of my family and friends, and I wouldn't want to erase them. But I think this song can have lots of different interpretations. That's what makes art great. And Angelina is an amazing artist.
The lyrics make sense though as she is saying "Maybe I'm a fool to erase the trace of you". She is questioning and struggling with how she feels. Everyone deals with grief and loss in their own way, but everyone needs and craves love in their life. The physical aspects of the person my fade and you may feel like you need to let them go but the love and memories you shared is what you cling to.

Maybe she deliberately wrote the lyrics to be ambiguous so people would interpret it differently and cause some discussion. Or maybe I have no idea what I'm talking about. @@wippletits On a TikTok she asked the question 'Did you ever think of love being a person'. Quite frankly, if you take a longer look at the lyrics, it is pretty obvious :-) It is an unusual angle, so at first listen, people will think it is another love song and that is fine.

Angelina is not talking about a person she is talking about the essence of love as she said " if love had a face " and another example is when Angelina said "if she could look into loves eyes there wouldn't be no place love could hide " and " if love had a heart she would make it beat for her " and finally " if love had a soul it is where her home would be ". Angelina is not talking about the love of a person, but rather love in it's purest unadulterated essence and form, "LOVE ITSELF". (Real love)! I personally believe this is why it is referred to as a "visualizer" because you have to not only listen to the song but you also have to visualize the lyrics of the song.

Angelina has said " i believe love never dies". My feelimg is she knows her grandfathers lve is still with her but witjout physical signs-a hug etc.-it is hard to feel and easy to forget. Great to see you back.. My take on the lyrics is a bit different. To me Angelina is writing about a different type of love. Giving grandma Mery a ride implies that they
have a shared journey. One that Angelina introduced us to with "Million Miles", which Angelina wrote about Mery's departed husband and their shared love,
which will never leave her alone.

Auditorium seats fewer than 900, so she's starting small. Only two tickets were shown to be available on various sites. Prices for those ranged from $1400 to $1600 (face value of all tickets ranged from $49 to $1100). That could blow your travel budget. But we now know there is a demand for her in the US.

This song will be even more interesting as you delve into the lyrics. It starts off sounding very much like a break-up song, but it becomes something much more. I really wish you had a face; if only I could look you in the eye; If you had a heart; if you had a soul. The plea, "Love don't let me go" is not being sung to a person, but to Love itself. At least that's how it hits me.

Thank you Valerie for reacting to our Jazz Princess again. Classy, catchy, stylish and vintage. She is "Old Enough" to lift off now! Kate Bush was my favorite female artist in the past, "The Kick Inside" my first LP, she took a lot of inspirations from novels or movies (It´s in the trees, it´s coming). Nowadays for me Aurora falls into this creative category as a song-writer and story-teller. She is next to AJ my favorite artist and curiously enough they are both from Norway! Exciting times ahead, as Angelina´s EP is coming out in the next days, all songs with original lyrics, more classy sounds to enjoy! Will blow us out of the water! And I am very curious what you think about it!
Smaugyyy! I agree 100% about the Aurora/Kate Bush musical kinship! Aurora's voice is similar and she Really does have a Theatrical stage presence like Kate ! I think Kate was a better Dancer (or perhaps better trained?)
@@wayneraynal8487 They are both incredibly talented and creative song writers and singers. Voices have similarities especially as they are on the higher pitch side, and sharp /clear voices , but are unique nonetheless. I could never confuse them.
Concerning dancing. I wouldn´t say that one or the other is "better" at dancing, Kate had relatively late lessons in ballet (seen in Wuthering Heights) and interpretative dance (The Dreaming), especially Lindsay Kemp helped to turn a timid girl into an expressive dancer, iirc she only had some basic formal dance lessons as child.
Aurora's movements have a different, modern style. She had intentions to become a dancer (or doctor or physicist ) when she was a child. In some of her earlier videos her movements may appear awkward, but this is her inner emotional world turned outwards as she lives her songs. Imo she dances very gracious now.

For me this is an amazing song, in those pop-jazz that it's so personal to Angelina, transmit in full her style, her voice, her vibes, her elegance, her passion, and her first realty, the family. Her wonderful empathy and creativity (the wonderful lyrics... and her so loved granny!), I think that is the most important thing for her, she has to be herself and make the music she loves. Which other singers at the public launch of their first album for an international label, insert their grandmother in the video? Another lyric interpretation I've heard, which makes sense to me, is that this is still a tribute to her grandfather and the loss of not a romantic love, but a familial love. This ties into Mery being in the video with her. Love has no face nor a heart because all that is left is the feeling, the emotion. As much as one would like to pull back the one who is gone, it's just like trying to catch smoke.

It’s funny that you have defined jazz as a syncopated rhythm, which I never actually thought about before, but it is accurate and is why it’s such a free form and lends itself to soloing. The other thing that I realize now is that people think she has a Amy Winehouse sound, but that’s not true because she is much smoother because of the Ella Fitzgerald influence, what it is actually is a 60’s English sound which is reminiscent of “To Sir With Love and “James Bond” which makes Angelina and Amy Winehouse similar.
This isn’t about a break up, this is about love itself, which is why she describes the different aspects of love with parts of a body, “If Love Had a Face”, “If Love Had a Heart” and so on, which makes love a concept that is hard to capture and hard to hold onto, which is actually a very accelerated level of thought, again well beyond your years.

Why do I have to share your view of what the song is about, that’s the beauty of an opened ended concept, I can fill in the blank with what ever I want! But if you actually dive into the lyrics, it’s definitely about the conceptual ideals of love, “if love has a heart I would make it beat for me”, that is not at all about breakup, it’s about wanting, but you have the liberty to get what ever you want from it, that’s what makes it art, if it doesn’t inspire an emotional response it’s not art, if it doesn’t inspire a full spectrum of emotional responses it will never be considered great art!

I have concerts big concerts. My wife and I flew to Norway her her son when she was 1015 we love this little girl she’s a prodigy she knows what she wants and how she wants it. She said age of six she want to sing for the world and bring joy and peace and happiness. That’s what God put it on his part of fourth born the same Day, work many hours practice, and I listen to her music it’ll grandmother induced her to thank God for her grandmother listen to jazz at the age of 1 1/2 showed her how to work the computer a.m. Internet to listen to your favorite singer. Billie Holiday means the world or Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, Whitney Houston, people, Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone these are the people that she listen to and loved.
I wonder if AJ can explain all the things she does vocally in a way that would allow her to teach others ... sometimes people with extraordinary skill it is so innate that they can not articulate the method used. Someday she might be a great teacher as well as performer?

Great to see you again. I think you need to feed the audio directly into the recording. It sounds like it’s in a room and the sound is tinny and sound like through a tunnel.
I use OBS and I'm still trying to work with the latest version. I will tinker with it some more.

With all the gimmicks that are used in what is known as music today it is so refreshing to come across a being that does not need auto tune, lightshows, dancers, outrageous costumes, bands, or orchestras to cover their weaknesses because she has none. AJ can perform a Capella, or with one or two instruments to follow her lead and give you chills with each performance. I have always enjoyed all genres of music, and being 75, I have experienced the best the industry has to offer, from the early 50s, to 2023, but I have never been moved emotionally in the past anywhere close to what Angelina Jordan does from 7 to 17. When I heard Celine Dion perform in a tint in Québec when she was a child, I predicted she would be the next world superstar, and the rest is history. Celine did not sign a record contract until she was in her early 20s. David Foster, who made Celine a star flew to Norway after Angelina wone NGT and tried to sign her, but her family wanted to stay in control of her future. Angelina, at 13, appeared on AGT and getting worldwide recognition signed with the largest record company in the world at age 14, Republic Records. The story is that Monty Lipman, the CEO, and known as the Star Maker, personally signed her even without meeting AJ, he was shown a video of her performance. Grandma Mery is always close by. As usual, grandma Mery is close, and even appears in this video with AJ. Mery has been a major powerhouse behind AJ, and they would be lost without each other. One genius helping create another. Mery is world famous as both an artist, and for her poetry, she was also a child prodigy.
According to Angelina, all the music on her new album will be written by her, or one of the group just for her. Could it be Redone who co-wrote with Lady Gaga, or Lana Del Raye?
