  • After buying my first Astra from Northwich Arnold Clark the car broke down after 12 hours. went back to the dealer for repair and got it back a day later only for it to breakdown again with the same fault. another day for repair. All went well till the following Saturday when driving back from Birmingham it broke down again but this time I noticed water spaying out from the passengers foot well when I use the rear washer jet. I was told this fault was repaired twice. After much pain and upset the dealer offered me the car I have now but had to pay more. We came to the same deal as before. Very happy with that on the promise I would get the software update.

Don't worry! I recently had a clockspring installed. Two days later the airbag light was blinking. I took it back to my local Toyota Dealership who installed it, and waited two hours while they checked it out and told me the diagnosis had found another fault (the front sensor unit). That was about £600 to buy and install, but the part had to come from Japan. After two months of waiting I got a small local garage to give me a second opinion. They ran a diagnosis and said the only code coming up was for the clockspring. Because I had had a new one fitted they cleared the history and all was well-no more airbag light blinking and it goes out as it should. Where did the sensor bit come from? It makes you wonder.

Having recently paid Arnold Clark Peugeot--Mazda in Kirkcaldy the sum of £7813 for a second hand
Citroen C3 Cactus I was not amused to find a very grubby engine compartment, dusty and quite a lot of leaves, as for the boot it contained several nice sticky mints, some pieces of chocolate, a 5/16 bolt several old B and Q receipts to name a few. While still under Warranty the car was booked in to replace a passenger windscreen wiper, blade, replace (or probably glue) the rubber drivers side door sill,
and most important of all to fix a severe steering fault ,ie pulling strongly to the right, it was eventually booked in and 6 hours later I collected it ,a new wiper blade, no seal and it needs a complete steering rack costing ,wait for it, £2320 plus fitting ,it could be repaired if I would give them half the cost of the bill. My answer was money back which I eventually got, less of course 20P per mile for every mile I had driven since purchase. Nice people to deal with. The other thing that really
puzzles me is ,How did they ever get a full Mot, I know my own local garage and test station would have failed it immediately.. Arnold Clark STEER CLEAR. never again. disgusted.

I'm well aware of Arnold Clark Northwich, they lie through their teeth. I do all interim services on a car myself but pay for a service every year to get the service stamps as the vehicle is on personal lease hire. I chose Arnold Clark as they are an authorised service centre for the leasing company. They said they had done and charged for, a full service including, oil and filters etc, less than a week later the oil level warning light came on, I checked and the oil was black and heavily used, after only 240 miles of driving? Suspicious, I checked the air filter and found it was the same Halfords one that I had fitted when I serviced the car 6 months prior.

Arnold Clark Aberdeen sold me a car that was delivered to me in January, they taxed it ( somehow) but forgot to put an MOT on it! Also the forgot to register it as it came from N. I. But the best was this there was a rattle front nearside I took it to Arnold Clark Elgin. To be fair they found the rattle a bracket had broken on the headlight and someone had pushed a piece of wood in to hold it, they then said the engineer has done a temporary repair, he has pushed the wood in further. Don’t think I’ll be taking my car for a service or mot.

If you are any good as a mechanic at a main dealer now, you will leave because they will not give you enough time to do the job properly. Because its all about profit and the customer comes last. I worked for 30 years at main dealers and have watched them go steadily down hill. More and more pressure to do things faster and cut corners. They never want to do any warranty or recall work, because the manufactures don`t pay the full hourly rate. That`s why I left the main dealers and now work for a small family firm. They let me do the job properly and not cut corners, so I can sleep well at night.

Audi in Warrington are exactly the same. An absolute disgrace. We had a terrible experience and caught them out telling blatant lies . They had our car for 7 hrs for a service, didn’t do it. Snd then wanted us to leave because “ they had other customers to see”
