As a kid growing up in the 50s and 60s I was lucky enough to see double headers whenever Penn played Princeton at the Palestra. There was always another Big 5 school playing in the second game. My dad, a Princeton tiger, would drive us from Princeton down to Philly. It was always a great twinbill. Although we despised Penn it was always exciting to see games played at the Palestra.
I was born in 1960 and started following basketball in the late sixties. I grew up in South Jersey, close to Philadelphia, and got all the Big Five games on television. For some reason, and I’m not sure why, I chose Penn as my favorite team. They were so damn good in those days. My father took me to my first game at the Palestra in 1973, against Princeton. Penn lost. It was their first conference loss at home in about five years. For some reason, I’ve never hated Princeton even though I always root against them. In fact, I always root for the Ivy League winner in the NCAA tournament k even though they rarely go very far.
When I was in college (not a Penn student), I covered a Penn basketball game at the Palestra on a Friday night, wrote my story, finished around midnight, was last person in the gym at that point and walked to the middle of the court. It was a very cool personal moment knowing the history of it and growing up loving Philly college hoops
I’m a current Villanova student who did the exact same thing earlier this year! To be able to look around and just see the history around me… man what an experience. Who did you write for?
I saw a Villanova game in the 1980s televised from The Palestra, and it seemed like the fans were so close to the court that John Pinone was boxing them out.
You really should do a video on the Atlantic 10 basketball arenas, home to some of the oldest venues in college basketball. Fordham has the oldest on campus basketball arena in the country, and St Joseph’s isn’t far behind either.
The Conference is unique in most sports given they are Known for their academics so to me that's why it's so neat how they came bout putting their stadiums and arenas together!
The Lavietes Pavilion was just a field house back in the day. I toured it as a kid at the Harvard summer basketball camp in the late 70s. Basketball back then was at the Malkin Center which is now used for volleyball. Looking for a building with character? That’s the one. Lavietes back then had no stands. It was basically four walls, that skylight roof and a dirt floor. They had a baseball diamond set up so to allow for infield practice.
I really hope you do the WAC-ASUN schools of the FCS. Last year was their first season and it’s technically a combination conference for an automatic playoff bid.
I loved watching games from the top level behind the basket at Lee Amphitheater. It was such a unique perspective to watch a game. You need to be in the front row though, otherwise your view is obstructed and you can't see the basket.
The ECAC even moreso. Ingalls, Baker, and Lynah are all on my bucket list and I'd love to hear what he has to say about Appleton's wooden seated interior

Since Cam Smith has breathed life back into the Aussie Golf scene, how about you do your favourite 10 golf courses? Not the other Cameron Smith of NRL fame.
Also no athletic scholarships allowed here. So they're all still regular college students at the end of the day. They just happen to be too good to be stuck playing intramurals.
Can you cover North American or European Beyblade stadiums?
Aren’t beyblade stadiums the plastic trays that you spin the beyblades on, or are there professional beyblades esports?
Do quidditch stadiums better 😂🤣
Than he can do all the short tracks in the untied states.

I’ve been wanting you to review NASCAR Stadiums for weeks now. Can you do it World Wide Stadiums?
It is amongst the many half finished scripts that are still in the works. I will try to get it finished soon.
I love the Palestra, it is a must go to for all College Basketball fans
Levien Gym is, in fact, underground. It's in the student gym, and you can look into it from upper levels in there which is neat.

You should check some College hockey venues if you haven't already. Some are very unique and some have history
Oh yeah! Yale, Hobey Baker at Princeton, and also Michigan and Vermont have to be my favorites.
Been waiting for this one!
Princeton out here playing in a marshmallow

Just curious...can we get looks at all American Hockey League arenas, AND your best College Hockey arenas in the near future?
I really hope you do the WAC-ASUN schools of the FCS. Last year was their first season and it’s technically a combination conference for an automatic playoff bid.

I would hate my life if these were the arenas I had to watch a college game in lol
Can you please do the MAAC basketball stadiums?
The puertorican basketball league has a couple nice gym that would be a nice video!
