They were around at the best time, instead of millions of views, Sold millions of cassette tapes, cds and vinyl, and had millions of views on TV since there was only 4 channels to watch.
I just remember how ahead of their time they were and I don't think the group were appreciated for what became a wave of what was then being called "Alternative". When "Stay" was on radio it was on the charts with Vanilla Ice and thought God help us...I hope the Music Historians give "Sister's" the credit due...👍💯❤️
Hmmm. When you look at them they really only wrote one classic hit and then delivered alot of more formulaic forgettable singles. The Bananarama connection didn't give them much alternative cred at the time - and they looked like posers. Consider Concrete Blonde and Siouxsie Sioux were already doing this exact thing - only better. All of that doesn't matter now, but back then it might have really prevented them from being more of a staple of the era.
I don't believe Shakespears Sister was considered alternative when bands like Faith No More and Mazzy Star did it much more obviously.
I Don't Care.......what the historians or these negativos say. They are in my history books as special and unique. Number of hits just tells how many ORDINARY people like you. But ordinary people can't handle the spectacularousity Of these Two Queens.
Stay was #1 in the UK for EIGHT Consecutive Weeks!
Because Stay and Turn the Radio On were their only good songs. As stated already all their other songs including this one were quite forgettable.

I wore out my cassette tape of Hormonally Yours driving to work and back in my first ever car ! It will always be one of my favourite albums. A true masterpiece.

Not just their songs, but their videos were great and exceptional, even back then. I liked them back then, but I failed to recognise how exceptional they were. Siobhan’s style - this isn’t a comment about her looks - is just great.

Then I was like they had another catchy tune too, and I remembered about as much of the lyrics for I don't care as you did. lol Yeah, it was a joy to rediscover them, nostalgic.
I've always known it but I was 12 in 1992 when it came out. As obsessed now as I was then.

I think I was in 12th grade when I first heard this song and I fell in love with it instantly.
When one of my classmates told me that the lady from Bananarama was one of the singers, I didn't believe him.
I'm not sure how we found out that he wasn't pulling my leg, but sure enough, he wasn't.

I always loved this SS album before I heard “Sacrs heart”(1989) this video flawlessly encompasses their What eve happened to baby Jane, feuds in 1992-1993 and has an integral and articulate atmosphere im very awe inspired by in every aspect
